Wasteland: I Awakened A Plant System
Chapter 291: The Orb From The Epic Zombie
When this zombie dodged the arrows and looked at Vikram again, the weapon in his hand had already changed.
It was the tungsten steel great hammer.
Vikram single-handedly wielded the hammer, which was a bit disproportionate to his size, and swung it.
This weapon and the zombie in front of him were both of Epic-level quality; if this strike connected, it would definitely cause immense damage to the opponent.
It was even possible to trigger the hammer’s special one-hit kill ability.
However, things are never as beautiful and smooth as imagined.
As his great hammer was about to hit the opponent, Vikram actually saw a glint in the opponent’s eyes.
Facing the formidable great hammer, it had no intention of clashing head-on.
Instead, it skillfully dodged the blow.
Vikram was about to follow up with subsequent attacks when he found that the opponent was actually retreating repeatedly.
"What the hell is going on?"
Dealing with brainless zombies on a daily basis had made him accustomed to just getting the job done in combat.
Now, suddenly seeing such a bizarrely moving zombie, Vikram was very surprised.
But the opponent’s next move shocked him.
"Roar—"
"!!!"
Hearing such a loud roar, not only did Vikram’s pupils contract, but everyone present looked terrified.
"Holy crap, it can’t win so it’s calling for backup?"
As soon as this terrifying sound began, Vikram immediately realized that this was the Lord Zombie activating a special ability.
Sure enough, as soon as the roar ended, the zombies outside the wall responded in unison.
"Hiss—"
Ordinary zombies, due to their rotten vocal cords, could only make such sounds.
Vikram had almost grown accustomed to this sound.
But this time was completely different.
One must know that there were hundreds, even thousands, of zombies outside; if they were all lured into his territory, although they couldn’t bot do any major damage, but maybe his few of the people will die.
Realizing that he couldn’t delay any longer, Vikram gritted his teeth, and he became angry at the Epic-level Zombie.
Then, the muscles in his calves slightly engorged, and in the blink of an eye, his figure had vanished from its original spot.
When everyone’s vision refocused, Vikram had already appeared in front of the massive zombie.
As a look of surprise flashed in its eyes, Vikram’s giant hammer rose from the ground and swung in a semicircle through the air.
Then, using inertia and gravity, a single hammer blow went straight for the zombie’s head.
The Epic-level Zombie’s speed was extremely agile, but only in comparison to ordinary Survivors.
In front of Vikram, it was like a child, the Zombie had no way to dodge this sudden attack.
It could only raise a street lamp pole to block above its head.
"Clang!" Metal weapons collided, creating a harsh, grating sound.
The result was obvious: Vikram’s weapon was Epic-level. The moment the two weapons connected, the street lamp pole in the opponent’s hand immediately broke into two pieces.
This wasn’t all; the reason Vikram had to leap to attack, besides the zombie being too tall and requiring him to jump, was primarily to use gravity and his amplified strength to deliver a fatal blow.
So when the opponent’s iron pole broke, his weapon did not stop.
With immense force, it went straight for the skull of this cunning zombie... "Bang!" A loud explosion attracted everyone’s attention.
As foul-smelling blood sprayed from the top of the zombie’s head, the zombie that had caused him so much trouble finally fell into a pool of blood.
There was no time to deal with the corpse in front of him, so Vikram directly put it into his backpack.
In the short time he had been fighting, a large number of zombies had already flooded inside the wall, due to the gate being opened.
Aside from a few ordinary zombies that were lucky enough to be squeezed in by the horde, most were Mutated Zombies.
Just as he had put away the Epic-level Zombie’s corpse, a zombie had already run up behind Vikram to ambush him.
But till now Phanty has arrived.
And then, there was nothing left to guess, the massacre of Zombies begins.
Ron and four others with him, and the other forty members of territory have also arrived.
"Brother Vikram, you dealt with that big guy so quickly? Amazing!"
Vikram didn’t know how many times Ron had looked at him with an admiring gaze.
"Mm." He replied faintly, about to join the battle.
Unexpectedly, he was stopped by Ron and the others.
"Brother Vikram, you don’t need to come; just watch from the side."
"We couldn’t help you with that big guy, but we can handle these small fries."
"Otherwise, wouldn’t the crystals we used have been for nothing?"
"That’s right, Vikram Boss, we’re not freeloaders. We can handle this here; you just wait on the side for good news. We definitely won’t disappoint you."
Draco said, his hands moving continuously, spearing through the horde of corpses, killing many Mutated Zombies in a few thrusts.
Vikram nodded slightly at the words and stepped back.
Although the others didn’t have the presence of mind to speak, they were also vigorously dealing with the surging zombies.
He glanced over the few of them.
Name: Wang Songqing, Strength: 46, Speed: 47, Stamina: 47, Reaction: 46
Name: Ron, Strength: 51, Speed: 50, Stamina: 51, Reaction: 49
Name: Draco, Strength: 49, Speed: 51, Stamina: 49, Reaction: 50
Name: Percy, Strength: 47, Speed: 46, Stamina: 44, Reaction: 46
Name: Ginny, Strength: 38, Speed: 40, Stamina: 39, Reaction: 40
Every member had made qualitative leaps.
After the Epic-level Zombie died, and Phanty arrived the activity of the zombies noticeably decreased.
Although the zombies inside the wall had not yet been fully dealt with, Phanty was dealing with the zombies outside of the wall.
Only a few scattered Mutated Zombies were left alive, which were also going to be killed down soon.
Vikram stood by, watching the few people fighting together, and couldn’t help but nod in satisfaction.
He feels the recruitment of these members is worth it.
When the last invading Mutated Zombie fell, this sudden crisis finally ended.
Seeing that, Vikram didn’t even glance at the bodies and cheered his territory members. "You guys have shown good spirits today, all the zombies which have fallen inside the walls, these all are rewarded to you."
Hearing this the members of his territory started cheering with happiness, "Long Live Vikram Boss, Praise to you Vikram Boss."
"Woohoo!"
"Thank you, Boss!"
"Alright, first collect the crystals from the Zombies on the ground. And use it."
After receiving Vikram’s instructions, the few of them immediately got busy again.
Vikram goes to relieve his tension through his wives, while thinking about the Epic Zombie appearance, and its terrifying reaction on others’ shelters.
After relieving his tension on his wives, which were lying nude on the bed.
Vikram thought for a moment and then took out the Epic-level Zombie’s corpse from his bag.
As the corpse, over two meters tall, appeared, a hint of anticipation flashed in Vikram’s eyes.
The supply box was indeed gone, but there were still crystals inside the Zombie’s body that could be used.
Speaking of which, the Epic-level creatures Vikram had encountered before had all appeared inside ruins.
In both cases, the boss creatures’ bodies had dissipated immediately after death.
That meant this was the first time he had obtained the corpse of an Epic-level creature intact, "I wonder what I can dig out of it."
Using ordinary tools to dissect an Epic-level creature would be extremely troublesome.
Fortunately, there was someone beside him whose ability was perfectly suited for this task.
Vikram glanced toward Luna.
Luna immediately understood what he wanted.
She got out of the bed, and knelt down a little, and since she was still naked, causing her good figure to appear in front of Vikram, especially her beautiful bum. Although he already relieved himself just a moment ago, he again started feeling the need, still he controlled it for a moment.
Luna stepped forward and raised one hand toward the enormous corpse of the Epic Zombie.
A faint crimson glow appeared around her fingertips.
The next moment, the zombie’s body began to tremble.
Vikram narrowed his eyes, and it looked like the corpse was responding to Luna’s will.
The flesh slowly parted, muscles shifted aside, blood vessels moved away from the center as though an invisible force was guiding them.
It was a bizarre sight.
Rather than tearing the body apart, Luna seemed to be manipulating every drop of blood and every strand of flesh inside it.
The corpse gradually opened a pathway from within.
Like a flower blooming.
Like countless layers of flesh respectfully making way for something hidden deep inside.
Several seconds later, a faint glow appeared.
Vikram’s eyes immediately brightened.
Something was buried within the zombie’s chest.
The surrounding flesh continued moving aside until a blood-red orb slowly emerged from the center of the corpse.
The orb wasn’t pulled out violently. Instead, it seemed to rise naturally from within the body.
The blood and flesh continuously shifted away from it, carefully creating a passage.
Not a single drop of blood spilled onto the ground.
Everything remained under Luna’s absolute control.
Finally the orb floated completely free from the zombie’s body.
Hovering silently in the air.
Its surface glowed with a dark crimson light while traces of black mist circulated inside like living shadows.
The pressure radiating from it was far greater than anything Vikram had obtained before.
Even without the System’s identification, he could tell one thing immediately.
This was definitely the most valuable item he had ever extracted from a zombie. Except for the Shadow Core from the Legendary Zombie.
Luna gently moved her hand. The crimson orb slowly floated toward Vikram.
At the same time, the Epic Zombie’s corpse rapidly lost its vitality.
Its flesh withered. Its blood dried. Its entire body began collapsing inward as if all of its essence had been concentrated into that single orb.
Vikram reached out and caught it.
"This...?"
"Vikram, this doesn’t look like a crystal, does it?"
Anjali noticed that the sphere in Vikram’s hand was quite different from a crystal and said with surprise.
"Hm." Vikram nodded, agreeing with the other’s words, crystals were shaped like polygonal prisms, and although they also emitted light internally, whether they were ordinary crystals or Mutated Zombie crystals, their interiors were transparent.
However, the object in Vikram’s hand was not only the wrong shape, but its interior was also filled with solid purple light.
Vikram’s gaze was fixed on the object in his hand, a strange look flashing in his eyes.
Just then.
"Hmm?"
Vikram had a feeling that a faint, almost imperceptible gaze had secretly glanced at him.
No.
Rather than saying the gaze was on him, it was more on the small ball in Vikram’s hand.
"Is this thing very valuable?" Knowing Vikram, she knew he must have noticed something to show that expression just now.
"Hmm, something like that." Vikram nodded.
"See for yourself." Saying that, he directly threw the purple sphere in his hand to Divya.
"Ah!" Divya, who had just received the treasure and placed it in her backpack, immediately cried out in surprise.
"What’s wrong? Why are you screaming?" Sophia asked her.
Divya, while still shocked, asked them, "Didn’t you feel a little familiar?"
Anjali paused, then raised an eyebrow and continued, "Yes, it looks so familiar. It’s like the crimson orb we used before."
Only after she mentioned it did Divya notice, a look of realization flashing in her eyes.
"It really is!" She gazed at the purple sphere in her hand.
Aside from the color, even its weight was similar to the previous crimson orb.
"Pfft! That’s not the point."
"I want you to look at the orb’s function," Divya immediately reacted, pouting.
It was then that she placed the orb into her backpack to examine it.
They didn’t have the convenient system scanning ability that Vikram had; they could only place items into their backpack to view the Survival Platform’s simple analysis.
