"Slice up your palms, we donât have all day. Donât work, we didnât bring you here to kill you. It would be pointless killing you when the entirety of Grealor isnât watching. When we come for you, you will know.
"You will definitely know and weâll make sure of it," Lord Sadako said with a smile as if that was supposed to make the situation any less tense than it already was. It was crazy how shit had gotten like this so damn fast.
However, the universe wasnât exactly the kindest and they havenât come this far just to rattle the two. It was a waste of time for them and they wanted to get this shit over and done with.
Meanwhile, Tamiko was staring at his uncle not understanding what this was all about. The mad King was never one to act rationally, yet he wasnât the kind to be impulsive either.
He always did what he wanted and whenever, but at the same time, he always did what was beneficial. And right now, Tamiko refused to believe that his father had brought the wolves, oh there he was just because of formalities.
It didnât make sense and it got Tamiko wondering what was next with all of this, something that to give, something was happening and they were not coming clean to him just yet. It was unsettling, but at the same time it was vomiting, in the weirdest of ways.
"What now?" Danny asked once their palms were sliced and all their blood was in one bowl. It was all so fast a while Gabe was scared of what would happen to him, he couldnât tell what the King would be doing.
This was too simple for a man as dangerous as Zaffuto Hinata. Then damn cutting of palms was something he could have seen to it in Grealor even. They didnât have to come this far for something so trivial.
Oh, but the fear was creeping in bit by bit and Gabe was feeling crippled.
"Just watch the king," Sanjiro spoke for the first time.
Alpha Ashton lifted his head and stared at the man... Sanjiro.
For some reason, it was like he was seeing someone different, someone that he hadnât recognized in his life. He was looking like the man was the bane of his existence when in reality they did not know much of each other.
The king had cast the dice, and they had played right into the chaos.
The king was kind and calm but Sanjiroâs calm was deafening. He looked like he wanted to be everywhere but here and when he talked to Gabe, Alpha Ashton wasnât sure if he needed to be worried.
Maybe there was more to this, there had to be because there was just no way that shit would be this unhinged. So many things could go wrong and it wasnât like the fates of the people of Kawai were the kindest of them all.
The separation that was happening was too simple and Ashton was slowly earning, and with the familiar face that he hadnât accepted, Ashton was in the same exposition as his son, what if this was a trap?
But then again, since when had Zaffuto Hinata ever had a normal conversation with anyone if it didnât involve his chaotic deeds? Who would save who from who and why? When even?
"Holy shit," Gabe let out when he felt the bonds break. They were just a little harsher than he had expected, and Tamikoâs break hurt the moat. Perhaps it was because he loved the man or maybe it was because the King had made sure of it like that.
Maybe it was because Gabe was still in love with the man he would never have and denial was the one thing that was creeping up at him. At the same time, it wasnât that hard to tell that Gabe had long been in love with Tamiko even before the mate bonds.
This was not the kind of love and it seems like it was the greatest punishment to his father by the fates. Anyone could assume that King Zaffuto had a hand in this, but this time the mad King was ancient.
In matters of love, even the mightiest of kings didnât have a chase yet to watch helplessly. And that was something that Zaffuto had long learned when he met Liana.
His Liana was the most unexpected match for him and he wasnât sure what he could have done, and years later, he was still holding onto the love he felt for his Erasthai.
It was the only thing that was keeping the mad King in place and with their son alive and well, Zaffuto would make sure that no one ruined that aspect of his greatest love.
"Itâs exciting isnât it... to be on the side of things that might not make sense but at the same time the side that could doom you no... by the way, since weâre not here for war Iâve been curious about something... why did you choose to bully my son?
"I wonât kill you today. That just I can promise and I wonât hurt you too," King Zaffuto asked politely and Danny stared at Gabe.
He knew this was a trick question and that whatever he said today would be used against him in the future then again, it wasnât like that was supposed to be as hard since their fates were linked either way.
The king was still going to come faster and whether or not he hurt Tamiko, whether he lived for Tamiko or for himself. The king would come for him. He would see to it that their lives never stayed the same.
It wasnât that hard to think of because of the rage that was sweeping through the entire room despite the smiles on the kingâs face. He was creepy and he knew it, but Zaffuto Hinata didnât care one bit about that.
The only thing that mattered at home was to make sure that the son he had cherished was okay and comfortable. Of course, there were still questions written on Tamikoâs face about what the fuck was happening, but the life wasnât easy.
It wasnât supposed to be that simple for them no matter how many things that they had to deal with along the way.
No one would ever be able to truly understand, but even then, did Gabe have an answer for the mad King or was he about to fumble his words through the worst of the worst stations in the realm?
Kawai was not the best of places for his conversion, but at the same time, it wasnât one that could be heard in Grealor. And worse, the land that was cleaned and that stood between the treaty of Kawai for the realm.
It was something that Gabe knew about, but what answer was he supposed to prove to the mad King this time thought? What the fuck was he meant to say to the man who held so much power and had their fates in their hands?
Since when has the King tried to make shit make sense of anyone?
This was madness, and there wasnât even ping it be the easiest way out of this unless We figured that he already had everything to lose and he couldnât lose more than he had already lost. But was there a quantity to what was coming and what they would lose?
Was this the fact that they had to sit tight and embrace them?
"I didnât realize we were being sentimental, Your Majesty. You have severed the bonds between Grealor and the outcast and the beta. Perhaps it was best we call it a day, no?" Gabe said, trying his very best not to sound scared of the King.
However, in a real sense, he was shaking. His confidence seemed at par with the kingâs pride, but then that was the only thing that could save his life right now. It was the only thing that could ever make sense to the man who was out for him and that which was his.
"Of course, but you must answer me this, Ashton," King Zaffuto stated calmly.
Gabe stared at his father, worry written all over his face. He knew that this was not the best of things for his father. When Ashton had left Grealor, he had intended to make the life of the King and his sonâs harder than possible.
It was something that Gabe had thought to be crazy and seeing how Kosta wasnât here there could only be two options for it and it wasnât as pleasant. First, it was probably because Kosta had brought them to this point.
Kosta was not here and it was probably because he had gotten hurt or he had hurt someone and the king needed him to leave. Or maybe it was because his father had been caught.
Frankly, the latter seemed to make a lot more sense because he wasnât a thing that Gabe could link his father and Kosta to. Additionally, the fact that Sanjiro was here made Gabe wonder what in the hell they were bound to experience this time.
Suffering at the hands of the most psychotic of butchers wasnât how he had hoped his evening would go, but then he had to try and make it make sense. Perhaps it was the one time he would take to get all the answers about his father and the damn Furfantes.
Or maybe Ciel was right and they didnât have to think too much about their rage and what it was bound to manifest into. Surely there had to be better shit out there for them, right?
"You have your son. And his new Lycan Lord. There is nothing you and I have for each other at the moment, Zaffuto," Alpha Ashton stated casually.
