Urban All-Round Master
Chapter 1766 - 1800: Shuobude’s Night Raid on the Hai Family Mansion
That night... everyone at the South Heavenly Gate fell into city-wide alert. But Shuobude, with a cigarette in his mouth, drove to the Hai Family residence.
Inside the Hai Family residence, under the sole management of Hai Zhilan, the foundations of the Hai Family had been greatly consumed in just a few days. Inside a villa suite within the Hai Family residence, Hai Zhilan leaned back on a soft leather sofa surrounded by eight stunningly beautiful model women.
These women dressed provocatively; some were even completely nude just to earn a smile from Hai Zhilan.
His life was decadent and luxurious. With explosive music playing in the suite, Hai Zhilan laughed heartily, "Ladies, when I control greater power in the future, whatever you want, I will repay you tenfold. Just please me, and whatever you ask, I will provide!"
Hai Zhilan held a bottle of whiskey, drinking until his eyes were intoxicated.
"Hai brother, in life we are yours, in death your spirits. No matter what becomes of you, we’ll share joy and hardship with you. Just don’t abandon us, don’t despise us,"
Nearby, seductive voices lingered, casting glances filled with allure, their fragrant figures enticing.
"Damned! The South Heavenly Gate is now under threat, and that dog still has the leisure to play with women here. Useless trash!"
Outside the suite window, Shuobude slapped his own bald head in anger.
"Knock knock knock..."
At that moment, someone lightly knocked on the suite’s door.
Hai Zhilan waved to dismiss the women, stood up and had someone open the door. A tall Elder approached Hai Zhilan, Ling Li’s gaze subtly scanned around, then he leaned over to whisper in Hai Zhilan’s ear.
Hai Zhilan’s expression turned sombre and cold, dismissing all the women from the suite.
"What is this guy up to?" Shuobude constantly watched from outside, guessing.
Soon afterward, after the Elder entered the suite, he quickly retreated, leaving Shuobude puzzled.
In the vacant suite, only Hai Zhilan remained. Alone, he puffed on a cigar as he poured two glasses of whiskey. He picked up a glass, squinting as he raised it to his nose for a sniff, then raised his gaze to the window.
Smiling broadly, he said, "Now that you’re here, why not show yourself? Why so reserved?"
Hai Zhilan’s words were clearly directed at Shuobude.
Shuobude’s brow furrowed, realizing he was exposed. He didn’t hesitate and climbed through the window, landing in the suite.
"Oh! So it’s Big Brother Shuobude! What brings you here so late at night for a visit? Come, since you’re here, have a drink."
Hai Zhilan was all politeness, personally lighting a cigar for Shuobude and handing him a prepared glass of whiskey.
Shuobude rolled his eyes at this courteous display.
"Hai Zhilan, right?" Taking the whiskey, his chubby face resembling Maitreya Buddha remained smiling.
"Indeed. May I ask what brings Brother Shuobude here to the Hai Family residence at such an hour?" Hai Zhilan sipped his whiskey, smiling.
"Haha, it’s nothing much, really. Just thought I’d come by and see for myself. Really, no big deal." Shuobude chuckled. Then, in order to relax Hai Zhilan’s vigilance, he scanned the suite with his round eyes.
"Oh! The Hai Family Head’s conditions are quite impressive: women in your arms, whiskey in your glass, living in such a spacious suite, really enviable."
"Hehe, if Brother Shuobude is willing, everything here is naturally available to you." Hai Zhilan smiled wryly, "If it weren’t for Brother Lin’s backing, I wouldn’t be in this position."
"Since you’re aware, shouldn’t people learn to be content? All this didn’t come easily. To put it another way, everything you have now is won by the lives of countless brothers. This, you should understand clearly."
Shuobude turned his glowing eyes upon him.
"Uh..."
Hai Zhilan froze, but soon relaxed, smiling, "Brother Shuobude, you’re exaggerating a bit. While it indeed cost lives, without my efforts, none of this would be possible, right?"
"So you’re saying all this is the result of your hard work, then?" Hai Zhilan’s words irked Shuobude.
His face slightly changed.
"No, no, no. Brother Shuobude, you misunderstand. That’s not what I meant. But if Brother Shuobude is willing, sharing all this with you is no problem." Hai Zhilan began to put forth his genuine bait.
"Share with me? I did nothing; how can I take from the ’efforts’ you’ve achieved?" The monk laughed loudly, "What’s mine is ultimately mine; what’s not mine, even if I play all tricks, will be out of reach. Besides, people must be contented. With such good days before us, yet discontent, harboring ambitions beyond reach is self-destructive. Against absolute power and might, any ant will be heartlessly crushed!"
Shuobude’s words made Hai Zhilan’s face change several times. He understood the implication thoroughly.
"Hai Zhilan, I’m older than you and as a brother, I offer this advice: ’Do not blame the onion for bringing tears, why harshly peel its layers?’
"Brother Shuobude, what do you mean?" Hai Zhilan’s face instantly dropped, his gaze fierce.
"You know exactly what I’m saying. Right or wrong, I don’t want any trouble. Now, the South Heavenly Gate is besieged. Brother Lin is your benefactor, isn’t he?"
"Yes, yes. Brother Shuobude’s words are taken to heart by me. But I have one unresolved matter. I wonder if you could help me with it?" At this moment, Hai Zhilan squinted his eyes, stepping cautiously toward Shuobude.
"Oh? Kid, what unresolved matter requires me to help resolve it?" Shuobude became alert. Then, as Hai Zhilan approached, he suddenly drew a short blade from behind, viciously stabbing toward Shuobude’s abdomen.
"Crack!"
With a crisp sound, Hai Zhilan screamed, as Shuobude seized his wrist instantly.
"Kid, such petty trickery, and you dare misbehave before me? Aren’t you embarrassed to show off a blade before Guan Yu?" Shuobude squinted his eyes.
Hai Zhilan cried out incessantly, "It hurts, it hurts!"
"Brother Shuobude, let go, let go! I was wrong! I admit I was wrong."
"Wrong. You’re always wrong. But mistakes come with a price!"
Shuobude tightened his grip, kicking Hai Zhilan flying across the room, then strode toward him.
"Swish!"
At that instant, Hai Zhilan’s fierce eyes shone brightly, pulling powder from his pocket and tossing it at Shuobude. It was protective powder he carried with him. Though cheap, it was effective.
"Help! Help! Someone!"
The powder obscured Shuobude’s sight, allowing Hai Zhilan to kick open the suite door and flee.
