Time Travel: The Heroine Has Arrived!
Chapter 1769: The Unlucky Adventurer vs. The Troublesome Female Supporting Character (Part 8)
The group started walking across the vast, desolate outskirts.
Gu Shengyin had actually never understood why in a place like this there would be a castle that so obviously looked like something from the Western Middle Ages.
But that was just how the world script was set up; nobody else thought there was anything strange about it at all, so Gu Shengyin could only suppress her doubts.
The sun in the west was getting closer and closer to the horizon.
Gu Shengyin checked the time: five thirty in the afternoon.
They had already been walking for half an hour; by her estimate, in another half hour they would reach that Ghost Castle.
Six o’clock in the afternoon was exactly when it would get dark.
Gu Shengyin let out a sigh. Even the timing was set up this eerily—if nothing happened, it’d practically be an insult to the plot!
Qin Chingching started complaining: "So heavy, I’m exhausted, why do I have to carry so much stuff..."
Gu Shengyin glanced at her. Qin Chingching’s pink backpack was stuffed to the brim, all of it food that Gu Shengyin had watched her cram in herself.
She was also using one hand to prop up an iron rod, trudging along with endless sighs.
Gu Shengyin couldn’t help saying, "If you really can’t keep going, you can stay here and wait for us."
She meant it. Honestly, letting Qin Chingching tag along to Ghost Castle and stir up trouble was worse than just leaving her here from the start.
Although Gu Shengyin knew that in the original storyline most of those things were probably just plot devices, when it came to a girl like Qin Chingching, she still couldn’t feel any fondness.
Hearing this, Qin Chingching’s eyes widened. "No way! I’ve already come this far! Think about how much effort I’ve put in, walking such a long way, wasting my rare vacation to come all the way to this godforsaken place—how could I give up!"
She glared at Gu Shengyin, cheeks puffed with anger, always feeling like this woman was targeting her.
Gu Shengyin gave a faint smile. "Since you already know you won’t give up, then what are you complaining about? Complaining doesn’t get you anything except wearing down your will and making you even more tired."
Qin Chingching rolled her eyes. "I just like complaining, what’s it to you?"
Zhang Chao, who was in the team, saw this and hurriedly tried to smooth things over with a few kind words; that white-collar woman also spoke to them in a gentle tone.
Ever since Gu Shengyin had shown that little display of skill earlier, she had vaguely become the de facto leader among them. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
This group was out on an adventure; naturally they didn’t want to offend someone who actually had real abilities.
As for Qin Chingching, she was the youngest here, so they were all willing to indulge her a bit.
In the end, Gu Shengyin and Qin Chingching didn’t end up arguing.
Of course, even if the others hadn’t stepped in, Gu Shengyin wouldn’t have clashed with Qin Chingching.
After all, she had no intention of wasting too much energy on Qin Chingching.
The group continued on.
Soon, they saw their destination for this trip.
Far in the distance, against the backdrop of the gray sky, an ancient castle in shades of black and ashen white appeared before their eyes.
Even though they were still some distance away, the sense of age and decay still seemed to rush right at them.
The novelist took one look and said with longing, "This is perfect material!"
The reporter couldn’t help but raise his camera and carefully snap a few photos.
Qin Chingching suddenly muttered, "Look at the sky above that castle—doesn’t it look kind of black?"
Everyone looked over when they heard that, and it really did.
Above the spires of the castle that rose into the air, the sky really did seem to be a different blackish-gray from the surroundings.
It gave off an aura of ill omen.
