This Giant Dragon is So Powerful!
Chapter 221 - 40: Envoy from the Emerald Forest (2)
"Shouldn’t we reconsider...that might be an elderly Black Dragon. Although its precise strength is unclear, it may not be weaker than you, Grand Elder. If Feng heads there and encounters danger..." an Elf Elder hesitated.
Before the Grand Elder could respond, Feng spoke confidently,
"Thank you for your concern, Elder Suomu, but I’ve observed that the Black Dragon Lord isn’t like those other evil Black Dragons... Moreover, I’ll carry a Teleportation Artifact. If I encounter danger, I’ll escape immediately. With my strength, running away shouldn’t be a problem."
Upon hearing this, all the Elf Elders nodded, finding it plausible.
Feng is the most promising talent among the young generation of the Emerald Forest. While an ordinary Forest Elf struggles to reach Advanced level at one hundred and ten years, and requires another one or two hundred years to reach Master Level, Feng has achieved Level 16 at only 120 years old, and he’s concurrently cultivating two professions; his secondary profession, the Forest Shooter, has reached Level 15, while his primary profession is the Wind Speaker, the most challenging to cultivate in the Emerald Forest.
His strength exceeds that of many elders present.
It’s notable that none of the Elf Elders present are below 300 years of age, with the Grand Elder and a few others being over a thousand.
The average lifespan of a Forest Elf is eight hundred years, with breakthroughs in Master Level extending their lifespan by several hundred years. The Grand Elder and the eldest Elf Elders are nearing the age where they may pass on at any time.
Emerald Forest places much emphasis on the alliance with Black Wing Nest.
Feng departed from Emerald Forest alone on the same day, heading towards the territory of Black Wing Nest.
Upon reaching the border of Black Wing Nest, Feng felt something and subdued his aura, becoming invisible, hiding atop the trees.
Soon, a patrol passed below.
Ten fully armed Goblin Warriors, each leading a two-meter-long black Wolf Dog Beast, apparently on patrol.
The Wind Speaker profession makes Feng highly sensitive to aura; even without spells, he can precisely perceive the strength range of creatures weaker than him.
"Goblin Warriors are Level 5, Level 6. Wolf Dog Beasts are Level 3-4." Feng silently observed.
A monster squad of this strength could easily be handled by a regular adult Elf Warrior, let alone him.
However, what made Feng feel gravely concerned was,
A few years ago, patrol squads at Black Wing Nest’s border consisted of one Intermediate Monster Warrior leading nine Low-level Monster Warriors.
Back then, they didn’t keep Wolf Dog Beasts with keen senses.
How many years has it been? Such drastic changes.
Feng didn’t believe Black Wing Nest strengthened their patrols to guard against Emerald Forest. Sending such elite warriors, even by Human Kingdom standards, to conduct tedious patrol duties seemed unlikely.
"The power growth of Black Wing Nest is too rapid." Feng felt a bit uneasy.
After the Goblin patrol left, Feng continued his stealthy exploration into Black Wing Nest’s territory.
His mission as an envoy might entail openly notifying those Monster Warriors, allowing them to escort him to Black Wing Nest, but Feng wanted to see the most authentic circumstances of Black Wing Nest firsthand. If escorted by Monster Warriors, he might not perceive the reality.
Although he intended for Emerald Forest to ally with Black Wing Nest, it depended on Black Wing Nest being Neutral Faction or Chaotic Neutral.
If Black Wing Nest was evil, Feng would refuse the alliance.
As he ventured further into Black Wing Nest, Feng’s inner feelings were unsettled.
Along the path, he encountered over ten monster squads, all configured like the initial squad.
And what did this indicate?
It indicated that Mid-Level Monsters were commonplace in Black Wing Nest, with patrol squads numbering at least over one hundred Intermediate Monster Warriors heading in just one direction.
An adult Forest Elf Warrior could easily handle one patrol squad, but faced with ten squads, even Advanced Elf Warriors would only have to flee.
As he pondered, Feng finally reached the core territory of Black Wing Nest—Monster City.
Gazing at the hundred-zhan-tall city walls, Feng, maintaining his stealth in body and aura, was somewhat surprised but not astonished, as the structures in Emerald Forest were built atop enormous trees hundreds of meters high. In grandeur and majesty, they didn’t lose out to Monster City. And in beauty, Emerald Forest surpassed it by far.
Emerald Forest’s city has been constructed over a millennium. Through the diligent efforts of the Forest Elves, calling it meticulously crafted is apt; you could find intricate carvings on any structure within Emerald Forest.
Near the city gates were Second Ring Spells inscribed with Eyes of Reconnaissance.
Feng noticed but wasn’t concerned, deftly slipping inside Monster City.
The Eye of Reconnaissance couldn’t distinguish Feng, who was stealthy.
This exemplifies the terror of the Wind Speaker profession, which combines Magic and Martial Dual Cultivation, countering most ordinary Casters.
Walking along the vast black stone paths exceeding one hundred meters, observing shops lining both sides, and the various monsters and humans entering and exiting... Feng felt a flicker of awe.
Emerald Forest is grand, majestic, and beautiful, yet always quiet, reflecting its sparse population. How lively can a city of a few thousand be?
However, this didn’t cause Feng’s awe, as he had traveled the human world for several years as an adult, experiencing much.
What astonished Feng was that different races of monsters and humans could coexist peacefully together.
Could you imagine a Giant Demon pitifully haggling with a Goblin Warrior over a roast leg of a Pig Beast?
Could you imagine humans and evil Jackal Wolfmen emerging arm in arm from a tavern, boasting proudly of their experiences?
Whoa, it’s somewhat outrageous.
After an hour touring Monster City, Feng’s mood swirled between complexity and joy.
Complexity arose from realizing a city built by monsters surpassed even the noble Forest Elves... Well, this is debatable, as not all Forest Elves fancy such lively and noisy atmospheres.
Yet Feng felt genuine joy because, through firsthand observation, he confirmed that such a development in Followers must be led by a Black Dragon who’s at least Neutral, not Chaotic Evil.
"It’s time to meet this Black Dragon Lord." Feng decided.
He approached the Guards’ station, revealing himself.
Surprised, the Guards instinctively raised their weapons but quickly calmed down, recognizing Feng’s race,
"Are you from the northern Forest Elves?"
"Yes." Feng nodded, then explained his purpose.
The Guards, attentive, hurriedly contacted their superiors.
Soon, after thorough investigations, Feng entered the Black Castle, guided by a Dragon-blooded Maid to meet the Black Dragon Lord.
In the Dragon Pool, its empty center had scattered piles of wealth—recently collected taxes from Monster City.
A Black Dragon with an imposing presence relaxed with closed eyes, surrounded by flickering Magic Spiritual Light, clearly researching spells.
"Master, an envoy from Emerald Forest has arrived."
The Black Dragon slowly opened its eyes, a tinge of surprise in its huge eyes—what’s this now, an envoy from Forest Elves seeking a meeting with an evil Black Dragon?
Not Dark Night Elves, indeed?
"Let him in."
Udi was curious to know the intent behind the envoy from the Forest Elves.
Guided by the Dragon-blooded Maid, Feng stepped inside, encountering the legendary being spoken of by countless Monster Warriors in Monster City—the Black Dragon King.
"Your Majesty the Black Dragon, I’m the envoy from Emerald Forest, ’Feng.’"
After several seconds of silence, Feng greeted with a somewhat dry voice.
In truth, the size of this Black Dragon was overwhelmingly pressing; although well aware that the Black Dragon ruling Black Wing Nest couldn’t be weak, facing it in person brought an indescribable chill.
