The Regressed SSS-Rank Water Mage Wants To Live a Calm Life - Chapter 55: Rindell
Maxwell frowned, leaning closer.
Perhaps the lady held no depth after all.
’What utter bullshit is that? The man didn’t even bother to make his lie sound a bit more convincing.’
Max massaged his forehead, questioning why he had agreed to this commission in the first place.
’No, I’m more concerned about the young lady,’ He thought, ’She fell for a lie as shallow as that?’
’Lorenzo, what do you even teach your daughter?’
Maxwell raised his hand.
"If you’ve accepted his company, then so be it."
Olive nodded.
Maxwell gazed at Blank.
The masked man sat with crossed-legs, holding his masked face high in a position that notified Maxwell that he was probably smirking underneath that mask as he rested his chin on one open palm.
Maxwell furrowed his brows.
’I don’t like that guy at all.’
Max crossed his arms, relaxing his back as he gazed out the window, yelling:
"Start moving!"
Their journey resumed immediately. With an unexpected new traveller in their midst.
Maxwell sighed.
’There goes my chance of asking her about her friend...’
Frilo let out a flute-like sound.

The three days after Blank joined their carriage passed by like a flash.
In the evening of the day Blank joined them, they ventured into the lush path of Miramar, evading countless low-tier beasts as they passed the grasslands. Some stubborn beasts tried to attack. But the guards who occupied the other two carriages that escorted them weren’t just for show.
They successfully intercepted the crazed beast attacks, clearing their way and ensuring the discomfort their lady felt was minimal or close to zero.
Shortly after, they left the path of Miramar, arriving at a straight path carved in the ground called the Crizier Lines. Surrounding this straight path on either side was water, endless white water that no one knew where it led to.
Those waters were said to have been created by the battles of ancient elementless mages. The anomalies before the anomalies. It was an amusing thing that such unprecedented beings stemmed from a planet as small as this one.
Those elementless mages were the ones whom the Seven Seats, this era’s rulers of the Cacosphere, themselves had extinguished, fearing their power was enough to topple their reign if they eventually ascended past the ten circles into the realm of ascenders.
Unluckily for the seven seats, though, the Celestial King, an unprecedented Celestial being, had eventually defeated them and taken the throne as the Cacosphere’s ruler.
The Era of the Celestial King. The Era where Maxwell was a transcendent.
Seeing those clear white waters in the Crizier Lines reminded Maxwell of how the change of eras had all begun on this small planet.
And how it had caused the planet’s decimation.
Five years.
Along the way, the white waters eventually disappeared, giving way to patches of dry land that absorbed the intense sunlight.
As the travelers, in their carriages, stuck to the straight path of the Crizier Lines, they eventually arrived at the city of Rindell. The oh so glorified Imperial Capital.
It had taken exactly seven days since Maxwell left Ludia.

The city gates were large and made with black, reflective steel that glimmered under the light of the sun.
Harsh sun rays fell on the world, illuminating the entrance to the city of Rindell.
Many people were entering and exiting the city, and so it made for loud noises, chattering, conversations, and even a few cloth-made stalls set up at corners near the gates, where smart people sold goods to passersby.
There were guards positioned at the city entrance, stopping visitors and searching them. Mostly the ones on horses or camels, or the ones carrying large wagons or carriages. Or even merchants and their vehicles.
Guard posts surrounded the walls and the gates, where men in full armor and helmets watched as the ones positioned on the ground searched.
The line to enter the city was really, really long. And it moved slowly.
But the fun fact was that the line didn’t apply to nobles.
Three fanciful carriages boycotted the long line, heading straight to the gates.
One guard, who’d been stopping others and searching their vehicles while contemplating what to eat that afternoon, raised his hand as soon as he spotted the dashing carriages.
"Halt!" He commanded.
The vehicles seemed like they belonged to nobles. But, in his experience, it was always better to search and maybe take a look at the occupants of the vehicles, because one time a group of bandits had raided a noble carriage and kidnapped their well-dressed coachman, all to make their way into the capital city.
The guard shivered, thinking about that day and the implications of letting a situation like that occur under his watch.
His commander would have him hanged. The only reason he escaped punishment that day was that he had intercepted them before they got into the city, and he, along with his colleagues, slaughtered them all.
Now, he was cautious with the ’let the nobles pass’ rule.
The guard, dressed in full armor — a bit funny for a flame mage — walked over to the front carriage, eyes narrowed as he stared at the coach.
Immediately, the coachman, holding the reins to the two horses, cleared his throat.
"House Girali. Escorting the daughter of Count Girali."
The guard nodded. The coach had a neutral expression, not a panicky one that suggested he was nervous or scared.
The way he held the reins of the horse was firm. That was good.
Still, the guard walked over to the second carriage. He left the handling of the long queue to his colleagues.
Reaching the second carriage, he ignored the horse and the coach, and he walked right to the window of the carriage. And he opened it.
The moment he opened the window, hot air washed over his skin. And he gulped, mana circulating his pathways instinctively.
Two sharp eyes were focused on the guard, causing him to tremble slightly.
One was glowing a brilliant blue hue, and the other was shining a furious red.
