The Prodigies War
Chapter 3072 The Danger of Traveling Solo
After learning the situation of the Four Great Ancestral Courts and the twelve Eternal Divine Clans, Lin Xun couldn’t help but worry.
His eldest senior brother had fallen! The Origin Sect, the Spirit Sect, and his other fellow Fangchun Mountain disciples were being limited at Lotus Leaf Sacred Mountain, and their situation was perilous!
How could Lin Xun not be anxious?
“Do you know where Lotus Leaf Sacred Mountain is?” he asked.
The black-clad woman said, “I heard it's in the southwestern part of the central zone. If you plan to go there, do watch out. Spirit Martial World is far from peaceful with killing mechanisms in every corner, especially along the path from here to the central zone. You will be subjected to knock-back from the Shaman Sect, the Zen Sect, and the twelve Eternal Divine Clans.”
According to her, entering the central zone of Spirit Martial World meant accessing the chance to compete over the Great Dao Fate Lotus. It was something that those big camps could not tolerate, for no one was willing to have such an opportunity taken away by an outsider.
Lin Xun sneered. “They act like they really are all that, but they haven't succeeded once even though the Great Dao Fate Lotus has appeared three times.”
The black-clad woman and company made no comment. They didn't dare openly belittle big powers like the Shaman Sect and the Zen Sect.
“Thank you for clarifying my doubts. I only ask that you keep what happened between us today a secret.” Lin Xun cupped his fist.
The other party all nodded seriously. The black-clad woman even said, “Even if you didn't ask, we would never share this with anyone else and draw fire to ourselves.”
Such an act might not necessarily earn them the favor of the Shaman Sect and the Zen Sect, but it would definitely offend Lin Xun, Fangchun Mountain, Origin Sect, and Spirit Sect!
While it was true that the latter were in a perilous situation at the moment, their hell-bent revenge was still not something small factions could resist, not to mention when it was impossible to run. This was Spirit Martial World after all; no one here could leave before the epochal calamity descended.
“Farewell.” Lin Xun decided to waste no more time.
“Fellow Daoist, this Spirit Martial World has quite a few ruthless savages who act without any scruples whatsoever. Since you're traveling alone, it is very likely you will face their hostility. You must be careful,” the black-clad woman good-naturedly advised.
“Thank you.” Lin Xun gave a final nod before turning to leave. His handsome figure quickly disappeared into the misty land.
“Whew~”
It was also then that the black-clad woman’s group breathed out a collective sigh of relief.
Previously, they had been worried that Lin Xun would kill to silence them, thus eliminating all possibility of his traces getting out. Now, it seemed that they had thought too much.
“Have you all noticed? Over ten years ago, news spread that Lin Xun had miraculously managed to seize the slim opportunity to certify eternity under almost impossible circumstances, and then stepped the Law Transcendence Realm in one fell swoop. It was also around then that he went to the Ninth Heaven Domain alone and cleaned up the Eternal Divine Clans.”
The eyes of the thin old man carrying the huge sword box gleamed as he spoke, unable to conceal the astonishment in his voice, “But how many years has it been? And here he is, already at the intermediate Creation Realm!”
For Eternal characters, reaching the sky as a mortal was still easier than moving an inch forward on the cultivation path. It was difficult for them to even achieve a breakthrough in ten thousand years. With this knowledge in mind, Lin Xun’s rapid progress was undoubtedly a heavenly shock!
“When he was in the Law Transcendence Realm, he was able to overturn the Ninth Heaven Domain. Now, he can even defeat a peak Creation Eternal like Old Yin with a single strike. I fear that this man...already possesses unrivaled strength under the Immeasurable Realm!”
The black-clad woman also spoke up with a serious look, “That is exactly why I was so apprehensive in front of him just now. Fortunately, we never used vile language and took things too far. Otherwise, I don't think we would still be standing here.”
The white-robed man whispered, “But if Lin Xun just goes to Lotus Leaf Sacred Mountain like this, he's going to face hell once his enemy camps discover him. After all, the Zen Sect, Shaman Sect, and twelve Eternal Divine Clans hate his guts more than anything else right now.”
His group didn’t know that Lin Xun had already flattened the Shaman Sect and the Zen Sect in the Eternal True Realm, or else they wouldn't be this pessimistic about Lin Xun’s action.
“How can someone like him possibly be an idiot? Don’t forget how fast his cultivation base grows. If he chooses to lie low until he reaches the Immeasurable Realm, then...there will be a big show to watch,” said the huge man.
“I really hope that someone can break the current balance of Spirit Martial World. With the way it is now, those like us who can only hang around the outer fringes will never have a chance to go there.” The black-clad woman sighed softly.
The peripheral zone of Spirit Martial World was hosting characters like them who were forced to group up with one another and keep a low profile, not daring to go to the central zone. Although this allowed them to live, who wouldn't feel aggrieved at never getting to compete over the most important thing?
One must know that every cultivator who came to the Sea of Fate came here for the legendary All-Wonder Dominion! The only benefit of this place was that they didn't have to worry about the Great Silence Unlife Calamity...
“Time will tell. There are still more than eight hundred years before the epochal calamity befalls, so there's no hurry. What if... Lin Xun can really break the current situation, right?” the thin old man leisurely said.
......
Among the vast expanse filled with gray mist, Lin Xun flew forward alone like a comet. These lands were primitive, and the gray void draped everything in a mysterious veil that made one's heart race.
“Whatever happened to Eldest Senior Brother, as long as there is a sliver of chance for him, I will bring him back. I just don’t know if Second Senior Brother still remembers what I told him.” On the way, Lin Xun worried about the state of his eldest senior brother.
Back then, he had let Zhong Qiu know how he had used the Nirvana law power to bring Tang Jiang back to life. He had then asked him to find relics possibly left behind by the senior brothers and sisters who had fallen, to see if there were any items that still contained their vitality.
If Second Senior Brother had remembered this and found some way to collect Eldest Senior Brother’s vitality before he had died, then it couldn't have been better. However, if not even a thread of vitality had been retained...then this spelled disaster, and that was exactly Lin Xun’s worst fear.
Swoosh!
Suddenly, the shrill whistle of an arrow ripping through the air resounded. Lin Xun snapped out of his thoughts to see a pitch-black arrow approaching him out of nowhere!
It was incredibly fast, as if tearing through the barrier of space and time! The aura imprinted on the tip was severely sharp and clearly an overbearing law power related to the dao of killing! Anyone else with the same cultivation base would have been unable to escape this, but for Lin Xun, this arrow was not enough to threaten him.
The next second, his right hand grabbed the black arrow when it was only half a foot from his face. As terrifying as the law power it released was, his firm restraint made it impossible to move inch further!
Bang!
He sent force to his palm and crushed the arrow into powder.
“Damn it!”
In the far horizon, the expression of a certain figure drastically changed. Seeing that this person decisively retreated right after the hit missed, they were obviously a veteran in battle.
“You thought I’m an easy target because I'm alone?” A cold voice rang in the escaping figure’s ears, and before he could react, a colossal hand had already dropped on him.
Boom!
This colossal hand was enveloped in an occult haze, blotting the sky and casting a shadow over the terrains. When it came down, the pressure shattered the void. Being right in the middle of this, the figure had nowhere to escape and could only confront it head on.
“Break!”
He waved the big green azure bow in his hand, using every drop of energy in him to fight back. His entire Creation Realm cultivation base exploded with power.
Crack!
Under the palm, the azure bow directly snapped to pieces. Its master was slapped to the point where his flesh ruptured, and he fell flat on the ground with the force of a meteorite, blood gushing out from his seven orifices.
This person was trying to climb up when Lin Xun pressed a foot on his back. In a series of bone-breaking noises, this person went limp as mud and his face contorted in extreme pain.
“I’ve been in the worst mood and you just had to ram straight at me. You have nothing to blame but your bad luck.”
Lin Xun’s gaze was icy. He stuffed the unlucky advanced Creation Eternal into the Limitless Abyss Sword Cauldron, intending to refine the guy with the Five Principle Laws of the Return Dominion later.
Then, his eyes swept around. Just now, his spirit sense had detected several figures in the nearby area rapidly closing in. However, after seeing the archer getting taken down, they were currently fleeing the other way.
Obviously, they had been in cahoots with the archer, and their plan was very simple: first, the archer would attract the prey’s attention and lure them over, and then they would encircle the prey together.
It was only that the plan had fallen through this time. They were so intimidated that they directly fled.
“Sure enough, the Eternal characters here are the opposite of pleasant. Traveling solo in this place is the easiest way to get ambushed.”
Lin Xun recalled the black-clad woman’s advice, and after a brief thought, dao light circled around him. In an instant, his appearance and aura changed into something completely different.
This was out of worry for being recognized, which might inform the Shaman Sect and the Zen Sect of his arrival at Spirit Martial World. In that scenario, the consequences would be very serious.
The harsh reality remained that despite being sufficiently strong to dominate the Eternal True Realm, he couldn't do the same in this world. He didn't fear opponents at the Lesser Boundless Realm, but fighting a Greater Boundless opponent would require him to put his life on the line.
Of note, those Greater Boundless Eternals had each overcome at least three Great Silence Unlife Calamities, surviving the destruction of three or more epochs. They possessed power beyond comprehension.
Lin Xun had once fought Yingshan Ying, the Heavenly Mandate Apostle from the Dao Epoch who was clearly a Greater Boundless existence. He had only managed to suppress the latter after sustaining severe wounds himself. Moreover, he had merely destroyed Yingshan Ying’s physical body; the latter's primordial spirit had survived.
Yingshan Ying had only gotten captured because he had found that the mastermind had abandoned him. Unable to bear such a blow, he had let despair take over and abandoned resistance. Otherwise, Lin Xun would have had to pay a far heavier price to win that battle, if at all.
Such was the terror of the Greater Boundless Realm, and in this Spirit Martial World, cultivators of this caliber were far from rare. Consequently, Lin Xun had no choice but to be utterly cautious.
Should his enemies detect him, the cons would far outweigh the pros, and it would inevitably trigger unpredictable disasters. Therefore, the wisest course was to conceal his identity and cover up his tracks.
