The Lady of the Prestigious Family is a Big Boss
Chapter 201. I still like it even though it’s been dropped (third update)
"No need, I’ve just reclaimed justice for myself," Ye Jiuliang said with indifferent eyes as she looked at them. "I’m going to rest if there’s nothing else."
"Jiuliang, we weren’t against you just now, don’t blame your grandfather," Ye Yu said with a conciliatory smile. "Look, we all came here in person. It’s not too late yet, but after all, you’re a girl, and it’s not too good to stay in a room with Mister Li the Fifth, as it may lead to idle gossip."
"Yes, Jiuliang, come back with us first," Xiang Zhen chimed in.
Listening as one after another of the Ye Family members wanted to take his little wolf cub away, Mister Li the Fifth naturally would not allow it.
With an iron grip, he swept her up, and Ye Jiuliang’s forehead bumped against the man’s sturdy chest, leaving her a bit dazed.
Then a low voice resonated above her head, "What’s the problem with her staying with me?"
Meeting those eyes as dark as a cold abyss, even holding the gaze for two seconds was too much to hope for; Ye Yu dodged his gaze and said with an embarrassed smile, "Mister Li the Fifth, we understand you and Jiuliang are close, but men and women are different. For both your reputations, it’s better if you stay in separate rooms."
"Men and women are different?"
Li Mochan’s eyebrows furrowed slightly as he looked down at the person in his arms, his forceful tone suddenly softening. "Where’s your household registration book?"
Hearing the words "household registration book," the old Master Ye suddenly became unsettled and preempted Ye Jiuliang, saying, "Mohan, Jiuliang is young, there are things she doesn’t understand. With the troubles tonight, it’s better if you let Jiuliang go back with us."
Li Mochan ignored him, his gaze obstinately fixed on the little wolf cub in his arms. "Where did you put the household registration book?"
Ye Jiuliang chuckled lightly. "What do you need the household registration book for?"
"To get married," he said.
That way, he could rightfully stay with her.
"Mister Li the Fifth, marriage isn’t something you just talk about; you can’t be impulsive," Xiang Zhen quickly intervened.
If Ye Jiuliang married Li Mochan, then wouldn’t Xinxin have to call her Auntie Li the Fifth in the future? How could that be acceptable?
Knowing the intentions behind her words, Ye Jiuliang didn’t expose her right then. She glanced sideward at Old Master Ye. "If you want to talk, then let’s go."
She released Li Mochan’s hand. "I’ll be back soon."
Li Mochan nodded.
**
As night deepened, the bright moon climbed up the treetops.
In the silent Jing Pavilion, not a single person was around.
Choosing a stone bench to sit on, Ye Jiuliang lightly tapped on the table, not intending to start the conversation.
Eventually, it was Old Master Ye who couldn’t hold back his impatience first. "Jiuliang, are you still holding a grudge against me for not defending you tonight?"
They locked eyes.
She smiled lightly, as if a breeze had brushed the clouds away. "Why would I blame you?"
"I know tonight’s incident..." Old Master Ye tried to explain further.
"If you want to talk about Su Yishan, then there’s no need to say more. I don’t blame you, nor do I blame any member of the Ye Family," she said with a distant and indifferent smile. "Because I don’t care, it’s irrelevant. Do you understand now?"
Old Master Ye’s face darkened. "Jiuliang, don’t speak out of anger."
The smile on Ye Jiuliang’s lips vanished abruptly, her voice turning cold. "You should know, the reason I haven’t completely fallen out with the Ye Family is that I made a promise to Grandma on her deathbed. As long as the Ye Family doesn’t provoke or scheme against me, we can coexist peacefully."
So if he wants to play the role of a good grandfather, she can go along with it, but only if they don’t cross her bottom line.
The grandmother had been kind to her, so she would keep her word.
"Fine, we won’t talk about Su Yishan. Let’s talk about Li Mochan. I’ve told you before that you and Li Mochan aren’t suitable. Why won’t you listen?" Old Master Ye asked angrily.
Ye Jiuliang stood up. "Whom I like and whom I want to be with is my own freedom. What if I’ve set my mind on Li Mochan?"
Old Master Ye exploded in anger, blurting out, "Xiao Lingchen is a better match for you than Li Mochan."
"Heh."
Ye Jiuliang chuckled softly, having seen through his thoughts. "Shouldn’t it be because Xiao Lingchen is more approachable than Li Mochan, and wouldn’t an alliance with the Xiao Family be more beneficial for the Ye Family?" she speculated.
"Who told you this? Was it Li Mochan?" the elder Ye frowned, his expression stern as he looked at her.
Ye Jiuliang lowered her gaze to her tiptoeing feet on the ground. "Whether it’s out of respect for my grandmother or my father, even though you were the one who drove my father to a dead end, I won’t easily take action against the Ye Family."
"But let me make one thing clear," she continued. "I only want Li Mochan, so stop trying to plan against me, I will not tolerate it further."
With those words, she leaped down the steps in two bounds, her figure dashing away without a hint of reluctance.
The elder Ye’s face still flushed with residual anger, he watched her departing figure; his lips moved as if to speak, but he held back his words at the last moment.
...
As she pushed the door open and entered the room, the light was still on.
After closing the door, Ye Jiuliang turned around and immediately fell into a warm embrace.
The pleasant scent of the man’s shower gel filled her nostrils, as Ye Jiuliang snuggled deeper into his arms.
She was somewhat tired of the Ye Family’s constant scheming and power struggles.
Sensing her low spirits, Li Mochan wrapped his arms around her waist and lifted her up, asking, "What’s wrong?"
She leaned her head on his shoulder and mumbled, "Tired."
"What did the old man say to you?" Li Mochan carried her into the inner room, his low voice tinged with a uniquely gentle concern.
"He said I’d be more suited to Xiao Lingchen." Ye Jiuliang rolled on the bed, a sly smile curling her lips.
Li Mochan lowered his gaze toward her, his dark eyes narrowing dangerously, teasing, "Don’t want to sleep tonight, hmm?"
The next second, the person standing by the bed suddenly lunged at her.
"Hey, it wasn’t me who said it," Ye Jiuliang attempted to dodge by rolling to the side, not noticing there was no more space behind her to evade.
"Wolf cub, don’t..." she protested.
But it was a step too late; with a "thud," Li Mochan hastily got off the bed.
"Did you hurt yourself anywhere?" he asked urgently, scooping her into his arms to check her over.
Even though there was a carpet, falling from the bed still ran the risk of getting bruised.
Ye Jiuliang rubbed her head, feeling a swarm of stars circling it.
She shook her head, her clear eyes gazing straight at him, "It’s all your fault, if I fall like this a couple more times, I’ll become stupid."
The last time she had fallen off the couch in Jing Pavilion, and now from the bed; why was it always her who ended up unlucky?
"It’s fine; even if you became stupid, I’d still like you," Li Mochan said with a low chuckle, leaning in to kiss the corner of her lips.
Ye Jiuliang was torn between laughter and tears, "Get lost." 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
She pushed his hands away and slipped out of his embrace.
"Where are you going?" the voice behind her immediately followed.
"I’m taking a shower," Ye Jiuliang replied, opening the wardrobe and teasingly asked, "You don’t plan to follow, do you?"
Li Mochan’s dark eyes lit up, "May I?"
Ye Jiuliang was speechless.
"May I?" he repeated.
Suppressing the urge to knock him out with a slap, Ye Jiuliang responded, "No, stay put."
He must be out of his mind to think about joining her in the shower.
