Chapter 10: Don’t Tell Her!

"I need to know if anyone’s tampered with the seal or not."

Calypso looked into Percy’s eyes, and she could tell that he was dead serious! The seal that Percy was talking about was the [Eternal Prison] seal that Verati used to trap the previous Demon Lord during the war a decade ago. As someone who had successfully achieved the power of a True Immortal, it would have been impossible to kill the previous Demon Lord without causing significant damage to the world, so Verati decided it would be better to simply place him behind a powerful seal and leave him there for eternity. But right now, Percy believed that someone was trying to tamper with the seal.

"Zedic, I’ll leave the preparations to you. We have to deal with this first. Come on, Percival."

Calypso reached out and hugged Percival’s arm, and Percival allowed her to pull him along as they headed deeper into the castle. Viva scowled as she followed behind the two of them, and in the back of her mind, there was only one question that kept repeating over and over again.

Was this man really just a librarian?

....

[Lowest Level of the Castle Dungeons]

Three figures moved down a long staircase that led into the darkness of the castle dungeons. There was a small light floating above Calypso’s hand that illuminated the area, and as they went lower, Viva noticed the air becoming heavier and thicker, making it harder to breathe. Every step Viva took felt like she was moving through jelly, and Viva felt a shiver go through her body as she realized that the air was filled with a thick layer of raw mana.

’What sort of place are they taking me?’

Calypso and Percy didn’t look bothered by the dark dungeon or the mana in the air, and the only reason Viva was still following them was because she refused to allow Percival out of her sight. Percival was the only person who could take her out of here, so she was going to follow him until they were back in their own world!

After walking for a few more minutes, they finally arrived at their destination, the lowest level of the Castle dungeons, more than ten miles underground, and Viva’s eyes widened when she saw what was down here! It was a massive door that towered over their heads like a monolith! It was pure black with hundreds of red lines travelling across its surface like bolts of lightning. But the most terrifying thing about it was the chains that had been wrapped around the door multiple times and the massive metallic eye in the center of the door! The eye was closed, and Viva could immediately see that it was holding all the chains together like a lock!

This was the [Seal of Eternity]!

Viva took a step away from the door as she felt an intense fear filling her heart! Just standing in front of this structure was enough to make her terrified for her life! There was an insane power flowing out from it and washing over her like waves of pure malice! Viva didn’t know what was behind that door, but she knew that whatever it was, it had to be the most evil creature she would ever encounter in her life!

"Stay here. I’ll only take a minute."

Percy spoke up to both Viva and Calypso as he started heading towards the door, and Viva was about to step forward to talk to him, but Calypso put her hand out and stopped her.

"If you step any closer, you’ll die from the pressure. Just do as he says."

Viva turned to Calypso curiously when she heard this, and she looked at Percy again! Why was it okay for Percy to get closer and not them? Wouldn’t the pressure affect him too?

"Isn’t the librarian in danger as well? Should he be going closer without any protection?"

Calypso blinked when she heard this, and she turned to look at Viva in slight surprise before she chuckled lightly.

"If you’re asking that question, then I suppose you don’t know yet. Well, that’s not my secret to tell. Just keep in mind that librarian is the only person capable of making sure whatever is behind that seal doesn’t come out here and kill us all, so do as he says."

Viva turned to look at Percy once again, and she watched as he placed a hand on the door and closed his eyes. A pulse of mana flowed out from Percy’s body and washed over her, and Viva shivered as she stepped back! Percy’s mana was pure enough to erase the malicious mana around her, and for a moment, Viva actually forgot where she was as she enjoyed the feeling that his mana brought her. By the time Viva returned to her senses, Percy had already finished his inspection, and he was walking back towards the two women. Once he was close enough, Calypso asked him if there were any problems.

Percy shook his head.

"None that I can see. The seal should be perfect. But I need you to get a small squad to watch it for the next few days and make sure nothing happens. If there are any changes, you need to let me know immediately."

Percy knew that it was a good thing he didn’t find any issue with the seal, but he wasn’t very happy about this since he was now back to square one. Percy had honestly believed that the killings recently were being carried out by an organization trying to bring back the previous Demon Lord, but maybe that wasn’t the case.

Calypso nodded to Percy’s instructions, and Percy gave Viva a curious look when he noticed she was just staring at him dumbly.

"What the hell are you looking at?"

Viva scowled!

"Who the hell are you, really?"

"I’m a librarian. Come on, we need to go talk to someone."

Percy started walking out, and Calypso spoke up as she hurried towards him!

"Percy, you aren’t going to stay!? I was preparing a room for you."

"Not right now, Calypso. I still have work to do, and Rita won’t be happy if I’m gone too long."

Calypso’s face immediately soured once she heard Rita’s name, and she spat out her next words angrily.

"Who cares what the bitch wants?"

Percy chuckled.

"I’ll let her know you said that. I’m sure she’ll love to know you think so highly of her."

Calypso’s entire face paled once Percy said this, and Calypso immediately begged Percy not to tell Rita about it!

"She’s a crazy person! She’ll kill me!"

....

Percy and Viva left Tartarus a few minutes later after Calypso made Percy promise not to say anything to Rita, and the two travellers walked out of the door and into the underground abyss below the academy library. A few feet away from them, Percy saw Lana humming a playful tune as she dragged two large bags behind her! And once Lana saw Percy, her face lit up as she ran toward them!

"Master! You’re back!"

Lana’s enthusiasm made Percy grin happily, and he ruffled Lana’s hair playfully.

"Hey, Lana. You’re here to feed them?"

Lana nodded to Percy’s question excitedly, and she dragged the massive bags before her forward before she called out in a loud voice!

"HENRY!!"

BWOOOOHHH!!

The floor rumbled as a massive bellow echoed from deep within the abyss, and Percy put his hand out and made Viva take a few steps back! In the next moment, a massive black tentacle that was more than ten feet wide and covered in razor-sharp spikes emerged from the darkness, and Viva felt her legs grow weak! Viva immediately stepped closer to Percy while holding onto his shirt in fear!

The tentacle moved toward Lana and hovered over her head for a few seconds, and Lana laughed as she jumped up and gave the tentacle a high five!

"Hey, Henry!"
