The Demon with Holy Radiance
Chapter 309 - 246: Spiritual Turbidity Balance, Secrets of the World
’Or did it strengthen the Spirit within my body to maintain the balance of Spiritual Turbidity?’
In a way, the question was both important and unimportant. Since he possessed this special, purely beneficial ability, all he had to do was use it. There was no need to overthink it.
But if he didn’t get to the bottom of it, Yang An couldn’t help but feel a little uneasy.
The unknown meant a lack of control, which naturally brought a sense of insecurity.
However, this question could not be answered for the time being, nor could he rely on anyone else. He could only wait until he reached a higher realm in the future to figure it out himself.
At his current Cultivation Realm, he was still far too weak.
"So now, does Yuan Ji understand why the Cultivation Technique one practices cannot be changed?"
After speaking, Hai Shu Bodhisattva seemed to leave Yang An a moment to think and react before he asked his question.
Hearing Elder Monk Hai Shu’s question, Yang An pondered for a moment before replying at once:
"Is it because if one changes their Cultivation Technique, the vessel formed by their body and soul will lose control, the Turbidity within will erupt, and the Spiritual Turbidity will immediately lose its balance?"
The moment he said it, however, a new question suddenly popped into his mind—one about himself.
’If my special ability is to maintain the balance of Spiritual Turbidity, then I shouldn’t be affected at all even if I change my Cultivation Technique. The Spiritual Turbidity in my body should always remain balanced.’
’So why didn’t I get any feedback when I tried to acquire a new Cultivation Technique before?’
’Is it because the Mystic Path Decoded I practice comes from the Earth Spirit Stele?’
The more he learned, the more questions he had. But these questions couldn’t be answered right away, which was the most frustrating part. And for now, there was nothing Yang An could do about it.
’Too weak. It’s all because I’m too weak!’
"Precisely!"
Hai Shu Bodhisattva smiled and nodded.
"Yuan Ji’s Enlightenment is truly befitting a True Buddha Reincarnation. This is a great blessing for our Land of Goodness. But do you know why I have told you these things, Yuan Ji? These secrets are not something a person of your Cultivation Level should know."
Hai Shu Bodhisattva asked again.
Yang An was actually quite surprised by this. He couldn’t believe Hai Shu had revealed so many of the world’s secrets to him. It was the first time he had received such a massive amount of information since arriving in this world.
Before this, neither Life Crane, Miao Ye, the Workshop Master, nor his newly accepted master, Elder Zhuan Yu, had ever spoken of these matters.
And yet, here he was, standing before Hai Shu as a mere Junior Cultivator in the Fake Food Realm, and Hai Shu was entrusting him with such important secrets—even if it wasn’t the whole story.
Aside from his status as the Buddha’s Son, Yang An couldn’t think of any other reason a Bodhisattva like Hai Shu would take such an interest in him.
As if guessing Yang An’s thoughts, Hai Shu let out a soft chuckle.
"You are the Buddha’s Son of our Great Virtue Temple, the reincarnation of a True Buddha. Your past life was very likely a Buddha from a far more ancient era. Everything I am doing is simply to help you take your place in the world as soon as possible.
That is why others are not qualified to know these things, but you are different!
Yuan Ji must always remember: you are the Buddha of our Great Virtue Temple, a True Buddha in this world. You were in the past, you are now, and you will be in the future!"
As Hai Shu Bodhisattva spoke, he gazed at Yang An, a flicker of devotion in his eyes, as if he were truly looking upon a great and majestic True Buddha.
"Yuan Ji thanks you, Bodhisattva!"
Yang An replied with equal reverence and piety, performing a Buddhist salute and bowing his head. His face was a mask of profound gratitude, as if deeply moved. Inwardly, however, he was scoffing.
’I see now,’ he thought. ’The old monk Hai Shu is trying to brainwash me with his words.’
’If I were an ordinary person, I’d probably be genuinely moved by his speech.’
’To have such a revered Bodhisattva value me so highly, hailing me as a True Buddha... a more sentimental person would probably be moved to tears, ready to declare on the spot, "My lord, if you will not cast me aside..."’
"Cultivators seek longevity and eternal vision. This is what it means to be a Xian.
Buddhist Practitioners wish to deliver all sentient beings from suffering. This is what it means to be a Buddha.
Amitabha!"
’So, in the end, the path of a Cultivator and the path of a Buddhist Practitioner are essentially the same. Both harness the power of Spiritual Turbidity, and both use the new techniques. The only differences are their philosophies and the forms through which they wield their power.’
Nevertheless, Yang An had no choice but to say piously:
"Thank you, Bodhisattva. Yuan Ji is enlightened!"
’Who wouldn’t love a disciple who gets ’enlightened’ at the drop of a hat and plays along so well?’
As expected, Hai Shu Bodhisattva burst into hearty laughter and praised him again.
And with that, they moved on to the real topic of discussion—the very reason Yang An had come to the Heart Buddha Hall today.
Hai Shu Bodhisattva held one hand in a Buddhist salute and, with the other, tapped lightly into the empty air.
Before the towering, closed-eyed statue of the Buddha’s Golden Body, the smoke from the incense candles suddenly billowed. It spread out like a cloud of mist, unfurling between them to form a hazy yet magnificent scroll.
The scroll was a kaleidoscope of magnificent colors, flowing like a living galaxy. From a great height, mountains and rivers appeared as mere mounds of dirt. Countless creatures dotted the landscape, their ephemeral lives, like mayflies, beginning at dawn and ending at dusk.
Everything seemed to be passing by in a rapid flow, yet it was all frozen upon the illusory scroll, creating a scene like a paradise.
"When the wild mind rests, the phantom body dissolves; senses and their objects, within and without, are naught but the void. Pierce the luminous spirit, free of all obstruction, and a thousand differences become one in a single moment."
As his fingertip traced across the illusory scroll, Hai Shu Bodhisattva recited the verse, each word intended as a guide to enlightenment.
