The City's Strongest Son-in-law
Chapter 1153 - 1152: Legend of the Strongest
"The Infinite Cave is not that simple, we must be more cautious," Su Changfeng said.
"Brother Changfeng, I’ve heard that the final challenge is indeed not easy, but I’m a bit curious. No matter what, this is the domain of Tuo Shi. Could it be that Tuo Shi would really let their experts die in vain? Is there no way for Tuo Shi to control things within the Infinite Cave?" Chen Qingqing asked, somewhat puzzled.
"Probably not. After all, Earth Level experts are very important to Tuo Shi; they are a crucial force. If there were any way, how could they just watch them die? Since they perish in the Infinite Cave, it means Tuo Shi cannot artificially control the Infinite Cave," Su Changfeng replied.
He had thought about this issue before. It was precisely because he understood it that he wouldn’t casually underestimate the trials of the Infinite Cave.
The fact that Elder Wu from Shangyun Pavilion and Yin Zhengyuan from Lingxiao Pavilion can’t control what happens in the Infinite Cave sufficiently proves one thing: although the Infinite Cave belongs to Tuo Shi, it itself has escaped Tuo Shi’s control.
"You’re right; Tuo Shi indeed cannot control the Infinite Cave." At this moment, Elder Wu’s voice suddenly came from behind them.
Since arriving in Tuo Shi, Su Changfeng hadn’t seen this old man again, as if he hadn’t been brought by him. In any case, this old fellow was still Niannian’s god-grandfather, yet he didn’t show him any favor.
"Oh, isn’t this Elder Wu? You’re quite the rare guest!" Su Changfeng exaggeratedly widened his eyes, his tone full of mockery.
In the eyes of outsiders, Elder Wu having taken in Su Changfeng would mean they were master and apprentice. But only they knew that they were not, and even this Squad Leader of Shangyun Pavilion wouldn’t gain any advantage in front of Su Changfeng.
"As everyone knows, you are my apprentice. Shouldn’t you show some respect?" Elder Wu said with a face of helplessness.
"Haha, in this lifetime, it seems there’s not much hope. I’ll have to pin my hopes on the next one," Su Changfeng replied with a laugh.
"Do you still believe in past and future lives?" Elder Wu looked at him quite unexpectedly.
Su Changfeng simply waved his hand. He was still an atheist and naturally didn’t believe in past and future lives. When a person dies, it’s like the light goes out; how could there be such a thing as reincarnation?
"Why are you here? Are you planning to take me to the Infinite Cave?" Su Changfeng asked, puzzled, looking at Elder Wu.
Elder Wu glanced at Chen Qingqing; matters involving Yang Ling were significant and Tuo Shi’s secrets—telling Su Changfeng was already an exception and certainly couldn’t be told to Chen Qingqing.
Su Changfeng furrowed his brow; he naturally understood Elder Wu’s implication but didn’t comprehend what Chen Qingqing couldn’t know.
"Qingqing, you should go back and rest first. I’ll have a few words with Elder Wu," Su Changfeng said.
"Alright," Chen Qingqing replied straightforwardly and turned to leave.
Once he was sure only the two of them were nearby, Elder Wu approached Su Changfeng and quietly spoke, "Before heading to the Infinite Cave, I’ll take you to another place first."
"Is it really that mysterious? Or are you planning to reveal Tuo Shi’s secrets to me in advance?" Su Changfeng asked, suspiciously eyeing him.
"No, it’s something else, something only Yin Zhengyuan and I know," Elder Wu said.
Something known only to Elder Wu and Yin Zhengyuan?
Su Changfeng felt a bit surprised. How many unknown things did Tuo Shi have? He now only felt that this was a place shrouded in secrets.
"Speak," Su Changfeng shrugged. Although he still looked indifferent, he was extremely curious inside.
"Have you heard the legend of Tuo Shi’s strongest person?" Elder Wu suddenly asked.
Tuo Shi’s strongest person?
Indeed, Yang Junming had mentioned this before, but it shouldn’t be a secret, right? Many Tuo Shi members knew about it. Why bring it up now? Was he trying to fool him?
"Elder Wu, let me kindly remind you, this doesn’t seem to be a secret, right? Surely you’re not here to fool me?" Su Changfeng looked speechlessly at Elder Wu, not knowing what the old man was up to.
"You’re right; a lot of people know about this. But in their view, it’s just a legend. However, I can clearly tell you, there indeed is such a person in Tuo Shi. The location where that person resides is known only to me and Yin Zhengyuan. But whether that person is still alive, we’re not sure," Elder Wu explained patiently, without getting angry.
"If the rumors are right, you’ve said this strongest one has existed for a century, right? So much time has passed; surely this person can’t still be alive!" Su Changfeng said.
"That’s something you need to see for yourself," Elder Wu replied.
"Me? Are you kidding?" Su Changfeng almost choked on his own spit. "Where would I go to see? Are you asking me to check in Yama Hall to see if he’s turned into a ghost?"
"The location of that person, Yin Zhengyuan and I have tried many times, but we just can’t open it. Maybe you can," Elder Wu said.
"Are you joking? Tuo Shi is your domain; you haven’t been able to open it for so many years, what can I do? Are you all going crazy wanting to open it?" Su Changfeng looked at Elder Wu speechlessly.
He didn’t know what these two old guys were thinking. They couldn’t open a place they had tried so hard to access, so why let him, a newcomer to Tuo Shi, try? He didn’t believe he had such talent that he could accomplish what Elder Wu and Yin Zhengyuan couldn’t.
"Give it a try. Who knows, you might actually open it." Whether it was a momentary impulse or a desperate measure, both Elder Wu and Yin Zhengyuan hoped Su Changfeng would try.
Of course, they didn’t hold great hope for Su Changfeng being able to open the mountain cave of Yang Ling, but Su Changfeng’s recent performance had indeed given them a significant impact.
What if he could? Being able to open Yang Ling’s mountain cave and uncover more Tuo Shi secrets might even resolve the crisis in Tuo Shi.
"Alright, since you put it that way, there’s no harm in trying. When do we go?" Su Changfeng asked.
"Tomorrow, but this matter must be kept confidential. Even Chen Qingqing cannot be told," Elder Wu instructed, not at ease.
Su Changfeng patted Elder Wu on the shoulder and said, "Old man, rest assured, I’m quite good at keeping secrets."
"Actually, it would be better if you called me Master," Elder Wu said with a bitter smile.
Su Changfeng didn’t respond to him, turned around, and left: "We’ll see in the next life if there’s another chance."
Watching Su Changfeng’s retreating figure, Elder Wu couldn’t help but sigh. Given his status and position, he hadn’t thought it would be so difficult to hear someone call him Master. If it were someone else, they would probably be diligently serving him by now.
