Chapter 844: Experimenting With Death

Strongest Hammer God

777 Four Ways

The Lord sent a dense explanation about accessing the Death in his Blessing to Kyle via voice transmission.

It was a lot to digest, but Kyle understood it quite quickly.

“This should be everything,” the Lord said. “Do not dig too deep. Do not experiment with Death itself. If you learn how to create Brutality, you will ruin your future Momentum.”

Kyle nodded. “I won’t. Thank you.”

The Lord also nodded. “Then, that should be everything. If you need anything else, just contact me.”

Then, the Lord cut the connection, leaving Kyle by himself again.

After understanding how to access his foreign storage of Death, Kyle’s mood changed for the better.

“I really want to see how Death can help me with my Complex Law. I mean, based on what he said, it sounds more like it would help me with understanding Pure Laws, but who knows? He knows more about Laws than I do.”

Kyle created several new Formation Arrays to conceal all kinds of things. The harder it was for anyone to sense what he was doing, the better. Technically, no powerful Seeker was allowed to get anywhere close to the Secondary Sector. After all, a powerful Seeker from the Array of Stars, for example, could spy on an Organization belonging to the Contrast Empire and give their own subsidiary organization important information.

However, these were manmade rules, not natural Laws. Rules could be broken.

When he was done creating his Formation Arrays, Kyle took a deep breath.

Then, he created a small channel in his chest. The channel connected the outside world to a seemingly random place in Kyle’s abdomen.

Next, Kyle closed his eyes and followed the Lord’s instructions.

A moment later, Kyle felt a stinging pain in his abdomen, but it couldn’t compare to the searing pain of his Sin Flames. The pain came from Death traveling through the tunnel and coming into contact with his body. Kyle’s body was made of Energy, and the Death combined with it to create Brutality, which destroyed tiny parts of Kyle’s body.

Luckily, the amount of Death was so tiny that Kyle didn’t receive any injuries. It was like putting a microliter of acid on one’s skin. Sure, a bunch of cells on the outermost layer of skin would die, but the damage was so small that it wouldn’t impact one’s overall health.

Kyle focused on the tiny stream of Death coming out of his abdomen.

When he felt it, he understood what the Lord had meant.

*It feels so wrong,* Kyle thought. *It’s so small that I can barely feel it, but this little bit still feels… wrong. I can’t think of another word. It’s not really disgust. It’s not really hatred. It’s just… no.*

*I feel like I’m not supposed to interact with this in any way. Don’t touch it. Don’t look at it. Don’t feel it. Just go away.*𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦

*It’s such a unique feeling. I don’t really fear it, but I also kind of do? That’s so weird. I can see why he said that everyone would immediately recognize this feeling. I’ve never felt anything that’s similar to this.*

Kyle opened his eyes and looked down. At this moment, there was a storm of Brutality in front of Kyle’s abdomen as the Death came into contact with the Energy in the atmosphere, but the storm was so weak and minuscule that Kyle could barely perceive it.

He focused on the storm for a while, getting more familiar with it.

After some time, Kyle could make sense of some of the destruction. It was similar to one’s eyes adapting to an environment with less light.

“That’s crazy,” Kyle thought as he watched.

At this moment, the Energy inside the storm was acting in ways Kyle had never seen before. It wasn’t flowing and transforming as usual. Instead, it was splintering.

Energy was so versatile and easily transformed. It never truly vanished. The only thing it did was turn from one kind of Energy into another. Heat, movement, matter, light, space, time, gravity—all of these things were just different forms of Energy, and they all seamlessly transformed into each other.

It was like a stream of water flowing down uneven rock. Sometimes, it flowed around small hills. Sometimes, it dropped down small cliffs. There were variations within the stream, but in the end, the water still flowed down.

Yet, what Kyle was sensing was nothing like that.

Using that analogy, it was like seeing the water suddenly explode into unrecognizable splinters, which slowly floated in random directions. It was no longer water, but if one put all the splinters back together again, it would turn into water again.

In more specific terms, Kyle witnessed how complex and almost invisible diagrams appeared in reality before vanishing.

As Kyle looked at the strange diagrams, he felt a sense of familiarity.

“They remind me of Runes in Formation Arrays,” Kyle thought.

When Kyle made the connection, one of his brows rose. “What if Formation Arrays work similarly to how Laws work on a base level? The Runes in Formation Arrays manipulate Energy to give it some kind of desired property. What if these diagrams do the same thing but on an even more fundamental level?”

“I mean, the same thing also happens on Earth. A body is a machine made of cells. The cells do stuff and move matter from one place to another. However, the cells are also machines made of atoms and molecules. They basically also just do stuff and move matter from one place to another.”

“Technically, you can also say that a body is a machine made of atoms and molecules.”

“Formation Arrays work on the basis of Laws, which work on the basis of Energy. A Formation Array needs rules and logic to function. Logically, Laws also need rules and logic to function.”

“I guess these diagrams are the logic behind the Laws themselves.”

Kyle blinked a couple of times. “This is getting way too meta.”

He shook his head. “Less philosophy and more actual learning.”

The next moment, he focused on the diagrams again. “These diagrams are so complex that I can’t make sense of them. However, if I keep looking at them, at some point, I will develop a feeling for them.”

“Also, I’m currently only looking at what happens if Death comes into contact with Neutral Energy. I want to take a look at Gravity Wind, Gravity Fire, and Gravity Metal Energy.”

Kyle summoned a bit of Gravity Fire and moved it towards the small stream of Death.

As soon as the Gravity Fire touched the stream of Death, it splintered, but the process was very different.

Instead of exploding into a single storm of diagrams, the diagrams came in waves.

First, a comparatively tiny wave of diagrams appeared. When that happened, Kyle could also feel the presence of Fire Energy and Gravity Energy for just an instant.

An instant later, two vastly more complex and bigger waves of diagrams appeared.

When that happened, Kyle felt the presence of Neutral Energy.

Finally, a third wave appeared. This one was even more complex and bigger than the previous two.

When that happened, Kyle only felt a storm of Brutality.

“That’s crazy! I think the Death is peeling off all the layers of the Neutral Energy before combining with it.”

As Kyle looked at the spectacle, his eyes focused. “I can see how that can help me!”

“What I need to focus on is the first wave. This wave shows how Gravity Fire works, and it’s also the only one that I can even hope to understand. If I can make sense of these diagrams, I can see what I need to do to combine them.”

“My usual way of comprehending Laws is to perform a bunch of experiments, see what happens, make a theory, perform experiments, see what happens, and so on.”

“However, with these splinters, it’s just math and logic. I just need to calculate.”

Kyle’s eyes narrowed.

“I might be able to finish my Complex Law in time!”
