’Wasn’t she supposed to be some virtuous maiden who valued her honor above all else? Then why isn’t she pushing him away?’

Leona Grant placed his hands on the table and fiercely clenched them together. He closed his eyes, a terrifying aura emanating from his entire body.

He seemed ready to explode at the slightest provocation.

Xylas Shepherd watched him in confusion. A moment ago, the man had been radiating a faint, lonely melancholy. ’How did he suddenly become so furious?’

He poked Nathaniel Locke, who was eating elegantly beside him, leaned close to his ear, and whispered, "What’s with Leona? Why’d he suddenly get so angry?"

Without looking up, Nathaniel Locke simply gestured out the window with a finger.

Xylas Shepherd looked in the direction he indicated.

He immediately saw Annabelle Linton sitting on a bench with a man. Annabelle’s head was bowed as if lost in thought. The man’s hand rested on her shoulder as he leaned in close, the corner of his mouth curving into a roguish smile as he spoke to her.

But one thing was clear: the man liked Annabelle Linton!

The tenderness and affection in his eyes were completely undisguised!

He sucked in a sharp breath.

Just as he was about to say something, two girls sat down at the adjacent table and began an animated discussion.

"Oh my god, did you see that guy outside? He’s so handsome! And his girlfriend is gorgeous. I’ve never seen such a beautiful woman. They’re seriously a match made in heaven!"

"I know, right? I’ve been watching them since they showed up. The guy is so dominant and possessive! The girl just said a few words to someone, and he got all mad. It must be amazing to have a guy that hot care about you and get jealous over you," the other girl gushed.

"I know! So the handsome guy got mad, and she kept trying to explain, saying she didn’t talk to anyone except their ’son.’ That little dog must be their ’son,’ right? He’s so cute! I really want a boyfriend too, and we could get a dog together... how romantic would that be?"

"Yeah, and did you hear? After he picked her up and sat down, he asked her to be his girlfriend and to marry him! It’s so romantic..."

"The girl said she’d think about it. They’re definitely going to get together. I’m so jealous..."
