Rejected by the Campus Belle, I Find My True Love
Chapter 564 - 562: Should Be Related to the Young Miss
However, she was just an employee; her duties were clear and simple.
I can speculate about the boss’s inner thoughts, but that’s not an area I should explore too deeply. It’s not worth my mental energy.
She knew perfectly well that her core mission was to complete every task diligently. And so, Jiawen Li cast aside all distractions, returned to her post, and devoted herself wholeheartedly to her work.

With a mess of tangled emotions, Chen Ying slowly made her way back to her workstation.
She had barely sat down when her colleagues surged around her like a tide, brimming with curiosity and eager to glean some information.
"Ying Ying, what did Chairman Lin want with you?" a girl named Yi Yi asked, taking the lead. Her words betrayed her desperate thirst for news.
She had graduated last year, and including her internship, had been with Lin Corporation for two years. Before Chen Ying’s group arrived, she was the most junior person in the office. Their arrival instantly elevated her status from junior to senior, and she even seemed to stand a little straighter as a result. She began talking like a seasoned veteran.
However, the office was full of employees who had worked for ten, fifteen, or even decades. In comparison, she just looked like a clown.
Facing Yi Yi’s probing questions, Chen Ying smiled gently and replied as calmly as possible, "It was nothing."
"Then... how was Chairman Lin’s mood when you went up there? He wasn’t angry, was he?" Yi Yi pointed toward the ceiling, as if trying to discern the chairman’s mood through the floorboards.
"No, he wasn’t angry."
Chen Ying’s answer made everyone around her breathe a collective sigh of relief. If he wasn’t angry, it meant the current problem hadn’t escalated to the point of alarming the chairman.
"So what did Chairman Lin’s mood seem like?" Yi Yi pressed on, still unsatisfied. Her curiosity was like a lit flame, yearning to burn brighter.
"Come on, a man of Chairman Lin’s stature is always inscrutable. He never shows his true feelings, right? What do you think, Ying Ying?" the woman sitting opposite Chen Ying chimed in lightly.
Chen Ying smiled faintly, grateful for her colleague’s understanding, and gave a slight nod. After that, she withdrew from the conversation, sinking into her own thoughts.
Perfect.
Seeing that she clearly didn’t want to talk, the others didn’t press her any further.
Not long after, everyone received the news that Chen Ying was resigning.
This caused a small stir in the break room. A few colleagues gathered, discussing the matter in hushed tones.
Leaning against the wall with a cup of coffee, Yi Yi spoke with confusion, "How could that be? You don’t need the chairman himself to handle an employee’s resignation, do you?"
"Exactly. Chairman Lin doesn’t have time for things like that," a woman nearby added.
"I’ll ask him about it when I get home tonight and see if there’s any inside scoop," said another. She was in a secret relationship with one of Lin Corporation’s senior executives.
"Yi Yi, you’re so lucky, having a senior executive at Lin Corporation as your boyfriend," someone said with envy.
Yi Yi smiled and replied modestly, "He’s a low-key person, very down-to-earth. He doesn’t like people knowing about our relationship because he’s afraid some might try to take advantage of it."
Her words conveyed appreciation and trust for her boyfriend, along with a hint of her own worries about work, but also carried an unintentional trace of smugness.

After work, Yi Yi went straight to the home of her boyfriend, Lu Peng.
The moment they saw each other, they fell into an embrace.
Lu Peng seemed eager, but Yi Yi gently pushed him away. With a tinge of concern and curiosity, she said, "Lu Peng, did you know? A girl in our department suddenly resigned today."
"Oh? Did she make a serious mistake?" Lu Peng asked. He knew Lin Corporation’s hiring standards were extremely strict; employees wouldn’t resign so easily unless they had made a major blunder.
"She made some data errors, but nothing that couldn’t be fixed," Yi Yi explained.
"Then why would she resign?" Lu Peng was clearly puzzled.
"Exactly. That’s why I wanted to ask if you knew anything." 𝑓𝓇𝘦ℯ𝘸𝘦𝑏𝓃𝑜𝘷ℯ𝑙.𝑐𝑜𝓂
"Who resigned?" Lu Peng inquired.
"Chen Ying, the new intern," Yi Yi answered.
"Chen Ying?" Lu Peng’s voice suddenly rose in surprise.
Yi Yi noticed his strange reaction and looked at him, confused.
Realizing he had overreacted, Lu Peng cleared his throat, trying to cover his slip. He hugged Yi Yi tightly and kissed her on the forehead. "Don’t overthink it," he said gently. "I just heard the higher-ups mention this Chen Ying. They said she was very capable and had a lot of potential, so hearing she resigned suddenly is a bit of a surprise."
Hearing Lu Peng’s explanation, Yi Yi’s doubts vanished. She knew how deeply Lu Peng cared for her; he was always finding ways to protect her at the company and shield her from harm.
How could I ever suspect him of falling for another woman?
At that thought, her heart filled with sweetness and trust once more.
"The chairman spoke to her today. Not long after she came back down, we heard she had submitted her resignation. That’s why I wanted to ask if you knew what was going on," Yi Yi explained.
"The chairman met with her?" Lu Peng murmured to himself. "Could it be... because of that incident?"
"Which incident?" Yi Yi pressed, her curiosity now fully piqued.
Lu Peng smirked, deliberately avoiding a direct answer. "It’s nothing. It’s getting late, let’s get some rest."
"Oh, come on, tell me! I’m dying of curiosity!" she whined, playfully shaking his arm.
"Dying of curiosity?" Lu Peng teased. "And not... dying for something else?"
"You’re awful! Just tell me!" Yi Yi’s cheeks flushed as she urged him on, desperate to know the answer.
"If you want me to tell you, you’ll have to..." Lu Peng trailed off deliberately, his gaze lingering on her face.
Yi Yi’s face instantly flushed as red as a ripe apple, as if it would burst. She shyly lowered her head and whispered, "You tell me first."
Seeing he had her hooked, Lu Peng finally revealed the answer with satisfaction. "My guess is that it has something to do with the young miss."
"The young miss?" Yi Yi looked up in astonishment.
"That’s right. Everyone at Lin Corporation knows that Chairman Lin has a treasured daughter he protects obsessively. We all know she exists, but none of us have ever seen her in person."
Lu Peng continued, his voice laced with a hint of mystery, "The rumor is that the young miss’s fiancé once pursued Chen Ying. He was after her for quite a while, but she never said yes. Then, somehow, he met the young miss and ended up getting engaged to her."
