Chapter 181: The Princess Wants to Have Children With Me
The room remained illuminated only by the dim glow of candlelight.
The air smelled like perfume, clean sheets, and freshly finished food.
Max was leaning against the headboard beside Elanor, both of them completely naked beneath the white sheets while they finished the dinner Abby had left for them.
The trays rested on the bed between them.
Only a few remnants of the dessert Bertha had prepared remained.
And honestly, Max didn’t know how to process everything that had just happened that night.
Elanor’s hair no longer retained even the slightest trace of the elegant hairstyle she had worn hours earlier.
Now it was completely messy, falling over her shoulders and back in disarray. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
And Max probably didn’t look much better either.
His hair was tousled, there were red marks on his neck, and he carried a strange feeling of absolute happiness.
It still felt hard to believe that any of this had really happened.
That he had truly shared his first time with the princess of Eldoria.
With Elanor.
The princess herself, meanwhile, looked completely exhausted.
Leaning against him, lightly hugging him while holding a nearly empty cup of tea.
And even so, she was still smiling.
A lot.
"Everything was perfect," she finally said softly.
Max smiled while taking another small bite of dessert.
"Bertha’s cooking never misses."
Elanor looked at him for a few seconds.
Then she started laughing.
"I wasn’t talking about the food."
It took Max barely a second to understand.
And he laughed too.
"Oh."
He looked at her with amusement.
"Then that was even better."
Elanor’s cheeks turned slightly red again.
"Yes..."
She hid herself a little against his chest.
"Much better."
Max felt his heart start racing again.
’Okay.’
He needed to stay calm.
Because if they kept talking like this, they’d probably end up forgetting the food existed all over again.
Elanor set the cup aside and looked up at him slightly.
"Max."
"Hm?"
The princess absentmindedly played with one of the open buttons on the shirt he had tossed near the bed.
"How do you feel about the whole wedding thing?"
Max watched her silently for a few seconds.
She continued speaking:
"I mean..."
She lowered her gaze slightly.
"Are you really prepared to marry a princess?"
Max let out a soft breathy laugh.
Honestly, that question still sounded absurd even to him.
He adjusted himself more comfortably against the pillow before answering.
"Sometimes I still don’t understand how I ended up becoming a princess’s fiancé."
Elanor looked up at him slightly.
Max smiled faintly.
"But I think ever since I arrived in Eldoria, I’ve changed a lot."
He stared at the ceiling for a few seconds, thoughtful.
"Before, I didn’t have confidence in anything."
He paused briefly.
"Not even in myself."
He looked back at her.
"But now..."
He gently stroked her messy hair.
"Now I know I don’t want anyone else to be in my place."
Elanor watched him silently.
Max smiled softly.
"So yeah."
He hugged her a little closer.
"I’m calm."
His voice softened slightly.
"And certain about marrying you."
Then he added, completely sincere:
"It’s the only thing I want right now."
Elanor stayed still for a few seconds.
Looking at him as if she had just heard exactly what she needed to hear.
Then she smiled.
"You really always know the right thing to say."
Max laughed quietly.
"I don’t think it’s that impressive."
"It is."
She rested her head against him again.
Max kissed the top of her hair before asking:
"And you?"
Elanor looked up slightly.
"You didn’t want to get married before."
The princess laughed softly.
"That’s true."
She closed her eyes slightly, embarrassed.
"When my father talked about weddings or suitors, I only wanted to run away."
Max chuckled softly.
"I can imagine."
Elanor looked back up at him again.
"But now..."
Her cheeks took on a faint pink color.
"Now I’m happy."
She hugged him a little tighter.
"Very happy."
Max once again felt that warm pressure in his chest.
The princess smiled faintly while speaking.
"I want to stand beside you at the altar."
She paused briefly.
"I want a future with you."
Max felt something inside him slowly loosen.
And then Elanor added, completely naturally:
"Maybe even have children."
Max instantly choked on what he was eating.
He coughed several times in a row while nearly dying on the spot.
Elanor’s eyes widened.
"Did I say something wrong?!"
"No!" Max answered quickly while trying to breathe again.
"You didn’t say anything wrong!"
The princess still looked completely red and worried.
Max finally managed to calm down a little.
And laughed nervously.
"It’s just..."
He ran a hand over his face.
"I never really thought much about having children."
Elanor lowered her gaze slightly.
"Oh..."
"But."
Max interrupted her quickly.
He looked at her and smiled faintly.
"It doesn’t seem strange to me either."
The princess looked back at him.
Max shrugged lightly.
"I guess it would make sense."
He thought for a few seconds.
"Besides..."
He smiled slightly.
"We already have some experience with Moonlight."
That made Elanor start laughing again.
"That’s true."
The princess immediately hugged Max again.
"Moon already treats us like her parents."
Max absentmindedly stroked Elanor’s bare back while she continued hugging him.
And then the princess said, completely serious:
"Moon deserves a little sibling."
Max felt all the blood rush directly to his face.
"E-Elanor..."
She looked at him with absolute innocence.
As if she hadn’t just destroyed the normal functioning of his brain all over again.
Max finally let out a small defeated laugh.
"Well..."
He looked at her with a slightly mischievous smile.
"Then I guess we’ll have to get to work."
Elanor’s eyes widened slightly.
And then she turned completely red.
But she didn’t pull away.
Not even a little.
Max slowly moved the food trays toward the edge of the bed.
Elanor watched every movement, completely nervous.
And even so, she kept smiling.
Max slowly positioned himself over her, supporting himself with both arms on either side of her body.
The princess looked up at him slightly, her heart clearly racing.
Max tucked a reddish strand of hair behind her ear.
"Are you sure?" he asked quietly.
Elanor nodded without hesitation.
"With you..."
She gently wrapped her arms around his neck.
"Always."
And that night, while the candles continued softly illuminating the room of the princess of Eldoria, the two of them once again lost themselves in each other.
