Reborn in the Eighties as a Housewife with a Space
Chapter 2854 - 2852: Thank You for Your Hard Work
So the thing Mrs. Xiao had been worried about didn’t happen, and Qin Xue also didn’t tell Chu Molin what Mrs. Xiao had done. She was just thinking about how to help Xiao Qi get better faster, so that Nangong Beiying could finally be at ease.
The two of them were both doctors, but doctors are human, not gods. There are times when they’re at a loss too—like now.
"Oh, okay, thank you." Mrs. Xiao said a bit embarrassed.
So Nangong Beiying really was the one her son liked. An Hao had told her that, but she didn’t like the idea, so she assumed it was Qin Xue. Who would’ve thought Qin Xue was actually the Chus’ daughter-in-law.
Sigh, what a mess this has turned into. These two women really aren’t simple.
She’d said such nasty things, yet they could still stay so calm. Forget them—even she herself didn’t think she could manage that.
"Chu Molin, you and Xuexue go back first, I’ll leave later." Nangong Beiying was thinking that since Xiao Qi didn’t have a fever anymore, she could leave, but she wanted to stay a bit and see how things went. If nothing big came up, then she’d go.
"We’ll stay with you. Mrs. Xiao, if there’s nothing else, you should head back first. Come back later to take care of him, that’s fine." Qin Xue smiled at Mrs. Xiao, her eyes crinkling.
Qin Xue had noticed something: Mrs. Xiao actually seemed a little intimidated by Chu Molin. Interesting. Molin was the younger generation, so why was an elder like her afraid of him?
Qin Xue felt she had to properly ask Chu Molin about it sometime. You didn’t get to see something like this every day, so of course she wanted to know what was going on—just not right now.
She had no intention of asking her husband here. She’d wait until they were back home, alone in their room; then anything could be said. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
"This... alright then, thank you for the trouble." Mrs. Xiao actually wanted to say it wasn’t necessary, that there was an attendant’s cot by the side and she could rest there.
But when she saw the look in Chu Molin’s eyes, she still nodded and agreed.
She’d better go out first. They probably wouldn’t stay long anyway.
"Yingying, how did you end up butting heads with her again?" Only after the others had left did Qin Xue ask Nangong Beiying.
"Can’t be helped. To this day she still thinks I’m some loose woman. Once people decide on something like that, it’s not easy to change their minds." Nangong Beiying understood what was going on in Mrs. Xiao’s head.
Just knowing didn’t mean she felt okay about it. No one likes being judged through tinted glasses. She just didn’t want to explain, so she let them keep misunderstanding her.
"True. Forget it, don’t overthink it. Once Xiao Qi wakes up, it’ll all be fine. We’ll see what those people have to say then." Qin Xue patted Nangong Beiying’s shoulder, trying to comfort her.
"I’m not overthinking. I just feel kind of sorry for him." Nangong Beiying didn’t think there was anything wrong with herself. Looking at Xiao Qi, she realized she’d never understood why he refused to go home, but now she sort of did.
No matter what, for her, those were her own issues. But for Xiao Qi, it was different. He had to face his whole family, a big crowd of relatives. That made his situation very different from hers.
"What are you worrying about all that for? Just live your own life well. Think about it, you don’t even know what you’re going to do yet. Even if he’s pitiful, what can you do? How about you consider just accepting him?" Qin Xue had originally decided not to help Xiao Qi, but seeing him lying here because of Nangong Beiying, she couldn’t help trying to talk her around again.
"Xuexue, I’ve realized you really have the makings of a matchmaker. Want to change careers and just set people up full-time? What do you say?" Looking at Qin Xue playing lobbyist yet again, Nangong Beiying honestly didn’t know what to say.
