Reborn as the Genius Son of the Richest Family
Chapter 1192: Tiebreaker vote
Now, that permission was given to Michael. Which, in turn, meant that the Reborn company was invited into the Draconian Continent!
This was a tremendous business opportunity that many people would kill for! Unfortunately, killing was not the way to get invited into the continent. But who would have thought that using the Rose of Death would result in such an effect?
"Thank you," Michael said. "I probably won’t be able to come to your continent so soon since I have a lot of things to take care of. But I will definitely take you up on your offer in the future."
"Good! Good! Oh by the way, I should introduce you to Master. I’m sure she’ll love someone like you!"
This was like pouring salt into the wound for those opposing the Reborn company. Not only were they now invited into the Draconian Continent, but now they were also getting introduced to Charys!
Who was Charys? She was a very important royal in the Draconian Continent! The power she held was equivalent to Dukes and Duchesses, just below that of the Draconic Queen!
Getting in the good graces of her and her student would eventually lead into much better opportunities!
"Ahem... let us get back to topic," said one of the Upper Echelon leaders. He was part of the Anti-Reborn faction. He didn’t want Infernus to continue building a relationship with Michael. That would be disastrous for their faction.
"We were talking about the Feast. We must stop it right at this instant! Charys has given us her express permission, Isn’t that right, Infernus?"
Before this, the Patriarch and Infernus had a good relationship. He was the one who gave Infernus the human beauties, after all.
But now, things have changed.
"Ahem, unfortunately, I was mistaken earlier. I haven’t actually talked with my Master. She is currently away on some business that I do not know of."
Gourdon stood up, seeing an opportunity. "Which means... that you can’t decide for her, right? We can’t stop the Feast!"
Infernus nodded at Gourdon’s words. This made Reborn’s allies even more elated.
"Since we don’t have her permission, we cannot stop the Feast!"
"It would be presumptuous of us to halt the Feast when she’s not here to refuse! She’s the one who arranged everything in the first place, after all!"
The Anti-Reborn factions gritted their teeth. They shared furtive glances once again, before privately talking with each other using an Aubility Power.
Eventually, they found a new way to stop.
"Since Charys is not here to decide, it states in the rulebook that anything decision we make must be decided with a majority vote!"
His allies immediately backed it up. "That’s right. Let us have a vote! Those who vote for the Feast to stop will say Yay. And those who disagree will say Nay."
Immediately, the Anti-Reborn faction raised their hands and shouted ’Yay!’, indicating their votes.
They immediately looked towards their peers, expecting them to say the same thing so that they could quickly make a decision.
But soon after the initial burst of ’Yay’ votes, the decisions from the other leaders came much more slowly.
"Nay. We shouldn’t stop the Feast."
"I vote Nay as well."
"....Nay."
The Anti-Reborn faction were thoroughly shocked! Somehow, some of the people who were initially on their side were now voting in favor of the Reborn company!
They were betrayed!
In truth, those people were originally undecided. They were neither for or against the Reborn company.
However, the revelations during this summit revealed the power and the potential that the Reborn company had.
With the youngest Nascent Spirit cultivator within their midst, they realized that fighting Reborn wasn’t the wisest idea after all.
Coupled with the fact that automobiles and other Rebornian products would be more critical now that magic was gone, they sensibly decided to switch to Reborn’s side and curry favor with them.
Therefore, the votes weren’t as one-sided as the Anti-Reborn faction thought.
The votes were evenly distributed.
There were 47 Upper Echelon companies. 5 Conglomerates. 2 Organizations. And one Reborn company.
In total, there needed to be 55 votes. And for the Feast to stop, they would need 28 votes.
And right now, only the Conglomerates and the two Organizations left who had not yet voted.
The Conglomerates were absent. They didn’t appear in the summit simply because they were all recalled back into their own territories by their Conglomerate leaders.
Magic’s disappearance was important globally and they needed to change their tactics drastically.
For the two Organizations, only the Order of the Heavenly Knights were present.
Understandably, the Guild of Arcana was absent. They were the one most affected by the loss of magic.
So, there should only be 49 votes total.
And right now, the votes were at a crucial, 24-24.
The only one who hadn’t voted was the Order of the Heavenly Knights. Eldea was the tie-breaker.
Now, the Anti-Reborn company wasn’t blind. They knew that the Swordmistress had a bias for the Reborn company since the very beginning, which meant that she would most likely vote in their favor.
However, they had their own plan.
"Heavenly Mistress! If you can recall, during your Exhibition Tournament, Arthur Lionheart had proven to be the strongest swordsman in all of the world.
He is the only one worthy to become your student! And it just so happened that we were the ones who had sponsored his growth this whole time. We gave him his GodForge pieces. We gave him his weapons. His skills. And dare I say his talent.
And according to our contract, we can easily retract everything we gave him without question.
Suffice it to say, we hold his future in our hands. So please. Make the right decision regarding this matter. You wouldn’t want your only student to be devoid of power, do you? Wouldn’t it be a total embarrassment for the Order if your student became a powerless mortal?"
And truly, it did seem like Eldea was placed in a checkmate. If she didn’t vote in their favor, they’d sabotage Arthur’s cultivation.
Eldea smiled and showed a wooden emblem. It was the symbol of her tutelage. This wooden emblem was only given to her personal student.
She tossed the emblem onto their hands, showing the name written on the back.
It said: Jaku, Dragonborn.
