Huo Sining gave Ouyang Jun an annoyed glance, shrugged her shoulders, and said:

"As you wish, we didn’t figure out the situation at all at the time. Although we knew Tepito was a crime hub, with drug dealers and some illegal traders, we only thought it was similar to the black market back home. It was not until we found a guide to take us inside that we realized everything was different from what we had initially expected."

Ouyang Jun laughed angrily upon hearing this: "What black market, that’s an underground criminal den! And you all brazenly rushed in there—wasn’t that courting disaster? So what happened afterward? How did you get out?"

Huo Sining and Gu Xu exchanged a glance and continued:

"As soon as we entered, we were targeted, probably because our facial features and skin color stood out. As soon as we entered the marketplace, we became obvious targets."

"But at that time, we didn’t think much of it. We just thought the locals hadn’t seen many Chinese People before and were looking at us like monkeys in a zoo, so we didn’t pay much attention."

"Following the navigation, we found the alley where you last called and discovered what you left in that dead end. Gu Xu took that item right out."

Upon hearing Huo Sining mention that Gu Xu actually found the thing he left behind, Ouyang Jun’s eyes lit up:

"Haha, you found the phone? That’s great! I told you, hiding it in that hellhole—the drug dealers, no matter how skilled, wouldn’t have the ability to find it. Now it seems my decision back then was indeed a gamble well-placed!"

Huo Sining was quite speechless: "You still talk about it. When we found your phone, we thought we had found a clue to your disappearance, and were almost beside ourselves with excitement. Ouyang Jun was tense and frightened by Huo Sining’s thrilling experience, especially with her eyes fixed on him, making him feel a bit embarrassed. He reached out to scratch the back of his head and said:

"How was I to know you would come looking for me? When I had that phone, it was like holding a hot potato. I knew keeping it to myself was not working, as it was evidence. If those drug dealers caught me with it, even jumping into the Yellow River wouldn’t wash it clean."

"So, at that point, I just wanted to dispose of the phone. Just then, those drug dealers were closing in; in my haste, I thought up that idea to hide the phone in the marketplace and escape quickly."

Though Ouyang Jun didn’t provide a detailed explanation, Huo Sining had to admit that Ouyang Jun’s approach was the best strategy. He hid the card, and if the worst happened, and he was captured by the drug dealers like this woman, as long as the item remained with him, they would hesitate. The drug dealers would likely only torture him rather than kill him.

Yet, thinking of the encrypted file on that card, Huo Sining couldn’t help feeling curious. She instinctively looked at Locke and Jason:

"You’re mercenaries, and this task is so dangerous. Do you know what you retrieved from the drug dealers?"

Locke and Jason looked confused and shook their heads in unison:

"We are merely responsible for clearing obstacles and ensuring Elisa’s safety. As for the final objective of this operation, we are unaware. It’s a company rule — when a task is assigned, only one core member knows the specifics, and others only assist to prevent leaks."

Huo Sining understood instantly. It seemed Locke and Jason weren’t core members of the mercenary company. Therefore, only Elisa would know exactly what information is hidden in the memory card inside the casing held by Ouyang Jun.

Huo Sining instinctively exchanged a look with Gu Xu, sharing their thoughts and opinions.

The situation from yesterday to today had been crystal clear to Huo Sining. If it alerted Adrian and even the drug lord’s headquarters, with many thugs and police chasing them relentlessly, then the content of the file in the stolen folder must be extremely important; otherwise, the drug lords wouldn’t be so desperate.

Huo Sining was sure that this woman, Elisa, was probably in deep trouble.

"Is that phone with you?"

Ouyang Jun was still in the dark, only knowing that his phone contained a memory card belonging to this woman. The drug dealers were searching for that card, but he didn’t know what was in it. Thus, upon hearing Gu Xu and Huo Sining had retrieved his phone from Tepito, his first thought was to get his phone back and return the memory card to the woman, then part ways, each of them going their separate path.

Being able to separate from these people was certainly something Huo Sining looked forward to. Of course, she and Gu Xu had come to Mexico to safely bring Ouyang Jun back. The fate of others wasn’t of great concern to them.

Moreover, she had just saved Locke and Jason and treated this woman named Elisa, helping her save her life. Huo Sining felt she had been more than generous.

If it were just to bring Ouyang Jun back home, for Huo Sining and Gu Xu, it would be a walk in the park. But continuing with these three burdens, even Huo Sining couldn’t guarantee whether she and Gu Xu would complete this mission safely.

"Elisa, you’re awake?!"

Seeing the two familiar faces, Elisa’s expression paused, and she immediately turned to look at the others in the car. Noticing there were three more Huaxia people, one of them being Ouyang Jun, her surprise deepened, and her gaze became increasingly wary and suspicious.
