Prosperous Marriage: Married to My Brother-in-law
Chapter 882 - 877: The Grand Finale (Part 1)
Even though autumn had arrived, the midday sun was exceptionally fierce, making it hard to feel the onset of fall.
On the thirty-second floor of Valence Group, in the tiny office of Camila Ruiz's assistant, Jimmy Horne pushed her towards the window, opened it, and pointed outside, asking her to look down at the street below.
"It's so high, I can't see clearly. Billy, what exactly do you want me to see? I only see several cars parked outside the company, but the street is right outside the company, so occasionally cars stopping at the entrance is normal." Camila looked down multiple times but only saw several cars and couldn't understand what Jimmy wanted her to see.
Jimmy had come to pick her up after work, which made her happy, but upon entering, he just pursed his lips without speaking, pulling her to the window and pointing outside without uttering a word, leaving her a bit clueless.
It was the end of the workday, and employees began to leave the company one after another.
Jimmy's eyes narrowed slightly, a dangerous aura spreading across his gaze.
"Billy, what on earth happened?" Camila withdrew her gaze from the window and turned her head to see Jimmy's slightly narrowed eyes emanating a sense of danger. She raised an eyebrow and turned back to look outside, focusing on those cars for two minutes before turning back to Jimmy, tentatively asking, "Billy, are there assassins coming for you? Are those cars belonging to the assassins?"
Her heart immediately tensed up when she asked, instinctively clutching Jimmy's big hand. He felt the subtle trembling in her palm and quickly pulled her into his arms sympathetically, his stern expression softening slightly, speaking hoarsely, "They're enemies, but not assassins."
Romantic rivals!
Camila was still tense upon hearing they were enemies.
She recalled her mother and godmother saying the most dangerous situation for the young master of the Reyes Family was being targeted for attacks. Uncle Noah, once the young master, was constantly subject to assassination attempts, never staying longer than a week at any place. After an affair with Aunt Adele, worried about implicating her, he erased all traces of himself, leaving her father and godfather to take years to uncover Uncle Noah's information. Hearing these stories back then felt thrilling, like a tale, as if Uncle Noah was amazing for surviving countless assassination attempts and eventually returning to marry Aunt Adele, making a beautiful union.
Now, it was Jimmy's turn as the young master of the Reyes Family, and she suddenly realized those dangers constantly followed him. She worried, she felt anxious, and she was more afraid. She hoped nothing happened to Jimmy—losing even a single strand of hair was unacceptable.
"I'll call Brother Ivan; we'll protect you as you leave." As if coming up with a solution, Camila quickly pulled away from Jimmy's embrace, hurriedly moving back to her desk, picking up the phone to call Ivan Horne.
A large hand promptly pressed down on the hand attempting to make the call.
"Camila, don't worry, that's Joseph Colson's car."
Jimmy reassured, gazing affectionately at Camila—it was his fault.
He hadn't made things clear, causing her concern.
Everyone who understands the Reyes Family knows that being a young master makes one highly susceptible to assassination attempts.
His grandfather and father survived numerous assassination attempts to make it this far.
Now, he sits in the most dangerous position within the Reyes Family.
However, he differs from his grandfather and father; eighteen years ago, his father cleared out ambitious relatives using ruthless methods, ensuring they dared not covet the young master position or change the Reyes Family tradition of passing the title to the eldest son rather than the most capable. His father had only one wife, and Jimmy had one brother, Jordan Reyes, who, although not raised together, shared a bond of kinship that bred a brotherly connection. His brother had no interest in the Reyes Family's leadership position and kept his distance. With minimal competition from relatives, Jimmy is the safest young master in the Reyes Family's history.
"Joseph Colson's car? Why would Joseph come to Valence Group... wait, is he here..." Camila didn't finish her sentence, suddenly recalling the bouquet of flowers she received before work, her face flushing with frustration, exclaiming, "What does he mean by that?"
Lai's big brother came looking for her?
What was his purpose?
"Camila, he's here for you. Looks like my Camila is quite the catch." Jimmy gazed at her, teasingly speaking through gritted teeth.
Of course, his Camila was highly sought after!
This sentiment was affirmed in his heart.
He had foresight, securing Camila early on, when the future seemed uncertain, demanding she wait for him eight years ago when they were still young and unsure of what lay ahead. Though he initially imagined she'd wait for only three years, eight years have passed. Thankfully, their hearts remained steadfast, recognizing each other, leading to their current loving relationship.
Upon hearing his words, Camila couldn't help but shoot him a sideways glance, retorting, "Are you accusing me of being too alluring?"
Jimmy chuckled deeply, drawing her into an embrace, soothingly whispering, "I believe my Camila is just too good, which gives me several romantic rivals."
"Having romantic rivals is good; it shows you how wonderful I am." Camila pinched his arm in return.
Men often think what's snatched is precious; more romantic rivals make her value apparent. Billy doesn't seem like an indifferent man; he likely wouldn't abandon her. After all, they share over a decade of affection, but they are young, and external temptations are immense. She couldn't assert, like her godmother does, that Billy will never change his heart.
It's said that a woman's intelligence drops in love.
Camila once didn't agree with this notion, but thinking about it now, she suddenly self-deprecates, realizing her intelligence unknowingly diminished—as did her trust in Billy, even by a tiny fraction.
Actually, her mindset is understandable; she and Billy are childhood sweethearts, but not like Glades and Julia. Glades and Julia grew up together without long separations, gaining complete understanding and trust. Her and Billy's time together was only until age five, a mere three to four years—young and innocent, with little knowledge and trust. As teenagers, they briefly reunited for two months, maintained phone contact for five years; physical time together was pitifully scarce. Unlike Julia's full trust in her man, Camila couldn't wholly trust Billy, and she can't be blamed.
