Players Invade Cyberpunk
Chapter 1102 - 358: No Selfish Milk Allowed (3)
"I feel like Los Angeles isn’t that great, you know? In the movies, they brag so much, but after spending a day there, I feel it’s not even as lively as the fish market at West Lake in Hangzhou."
"Yeah, right, right."
Potato couldn’t care less about this guy who has to hang a bunch of keys on his waist to show off when going out.
"You’re so badass, driving a Cayenne everywhere."
"Get lost! Careful or I’ll toss you off the plane as a human bomb."
The two of them are still bickering as usual.
Along for the ride are Yanfuren and Shui Yue; they’ve finished their mission in Night City and are headed to Cuba for the next part, since many players feel they’ve had enough and want to return to Night City to unwind.
Havana has no idea that the enemy they’re facing has this kind of liberating vacation policy.
Shui Yue looks at the military transport plane in front of them and can’t help but exclaim,
"I didn’t expect Brother Xun to know how to fly a transport plane; I thought driving a hovercar was already impressive."
"Don’t you understand the value of mastering advanced driving skills?"
Giant proudly climbs onto the tank transported by the truck to the rear of the transport plane, opens the foldable cockpit, and slips inside—a complete tech fest.
This tank doesn’t have tracks; its lower chassis is empty. It’s clearly divided into three modular segments with a streamlined design. Its weaponry includes a 120mm main gun, 8 active defense rounds, and a remote-controlled machine gun. 𝓯𝓻𝒆𝙚𝒘𝓮𝙗𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝒍.𝙘𝓸𝙢
This is the upgraded Komodo main battle tank ordered by Lin Miao from Military Technology.
Of course, it’s still second-hand, and he rented the transport plane too.
Soon enough, the tank’s engine roars to life. This several-ton machine suddenly floats half a meter off the ground—its rear engine spews flames to adjust orientation and heads toward the cabin.
This phenomenon defying physics doesn’t surprise the players much. They’ve seen it often; they’re not scientists, so why trouble themselves with it?
Once the tank is fully in position, the engine shuts down, and the Military Technology soldiers attach and lock it in the cabin, starting to set up the parachute.
Yes, this time they’re air-dropping tanks.
Lin Miao ordered a total of 20 tanks at a huge cost, solely because the frontline command group has enough points to send a tank company over.
Because the swampy terrain at Pig Bay makes it impossible to ship them to an offshore dock and truck them to the front. Hover tanks are also heavy on fuel consumption, so floating them over isn’t feasible either.
So they decided to simply air-drop them to the front.
As for drivers, they’re not lacking—in-depth mastery isn’t common, but many are proficient, having learned in the simulator.
To save money, tank drivers double as pilots, driving and flying, with the return trip handled by autopilot.
Might as well give a lift to a few players and save on travel expenses.
So, Giant walks with swagger because he’s on an important mission!
"In the sky, on the ground, and in the sea—there’s nothing your Brother Xun can’t fly, drive, or sail. Just one look, and I’m a genius, get it?"
Yanfuren puts away the envy in her eyes and jokes,
"Your dad taught you in Hawaii, right?"
"What Hawaii? I’ve never been to Hawaii."
Giant doesn’t get the joke and is momentarily puzzled.
Yanfuren doesn’t bother explaining,
"Never mind if you don’t get it. Captain Sun, hurry up; the brothers on the Cuban front are impatiently waiting for the tanks. It’s not good to keep them waiting too long."
A few players go with the flow and enter the cockpit, waiting for Military Science Tower to clear the runway for takeoff.
"Ah, today I’m flying a plane too."
Giant, sitting in the pilot’s seat, is gleefully showing off; he reaches to open the radio.
"Number 7, 011 ground ready, requesting takeoff."
The Military Science Tower quickly replies,
"011 may take off."
Despite it being his first time operating a transport plane, in the Horizon’s communal knowledge area, players with advanced driving skills have tried every model in the simulator.
The scene is nearly identical to reality, so they’re naturally not too nervous.
The transport plane soon enters the runway, begins accelerating bit by bit, and then, after a bit of shaking, the wheels leave the ground, the landing gear retracts, and the entire plane is airborne, heading into the distant clouds.
Giant is having a blast, but the conversation inside the cabin isn’t quite right.
Shui Yue swallows nervously; it’s not that he distrusts Giant’s piloting skills, just that entrusting his life to him feels a bit tense.
So he turns to Potato, Giant’s close friend, for some psychological reassurance.
"I heard Brother Xun once drove a hovercar and took out Hansen’s ride. You guys recorded the replay, and it was quite thrilling. His plane skills should be decent, right?"
Potato recalls that scene—though thrilling, it left him with quite a psychological shadow, preventing him from riding along with Giant for a long time, but his raw skills were indeed in form.
So, forcing a smile, he says,
"It shouldn’t be; I’ve seen his simulator ranking as first..."
Before he can finish speaking, the plane suddenly jolts, as if receiving some sort of signal.
The three of them quickly hug tightly, fearing any accidents. So high up in the air, no prosthetic body would help if they fell.
Luckily, the turbulence comes and goes quickly.
Over the speakers, Giant’s voice echoes,
"Hit a bit of strong turbulence, no biggie."
"And Huang Xudong, shut your mouth until we land! Otherwise, I’ll rip you apart!"
Yanfuren and Shui Yue seem to remember something and instantly focus all four eyes on Potato. Shui Yue even mysteriously finds a roll of tape, making Potato angry and ashamed.
"Science! You should trust science! If my words could bring a plane down, I might as well just wish Huang Ban Sanlang happiness, a loving family, and obedient kids. Why bother playing the game, huh?"
Shui Yue: "Better be that way."
Yanfuren: "For safety’s sake, you’d better not talk."
