Planet Vs Aliens: Space User Saves the World
Chapter 96: Novel Updates
"Is there really no way to stop it?" Gale asked out of nowhere while they were having lunch in the space. (It was just more comfortable eating there in the car).
Naia lifted her head from her gyudon and looked at the other girl in puzzlement.
She then realized she was reading while eating. "What part are you in now?"
"Extreme Cold."
So in the story, the Fall had already happened, followed by a few disasters. By the time the Extreme Cold landed, a month or so would’ve already passed.
Most places would have begun to experience running out of essential resources, as the majority of the food stocked in supermarkets, groceries, and so on would’ve already been consumed or gone bad.
At best, the shelf-stable food would’ve already been taken and monopolized by the local powers.
Before the Extreme Cold, people were still humane. After all, it hadn’t been long since then, and most people believed that after the Fall, the worst had already passed. While there were plenty who acted wantonly, the majority still feared the law once the disasters ended and order had resumed.
Even when people were hit with major storms that could blow people away, there was still a bit of hope, especially after the storm passed by.
The Cryogenic Winter slapped everyone in the face.
It was there that it became clear that the changes were permanent and would only get worse—the actual Apocalypse had begun.
People began to think: If order and peace were never going to come back, why couldn’t they do whatever the hell they wanted?
The devils and the darkness of humankind blatantly showed their horns now. Morality and ethics had become obsolete.
The strong began to wantonly take what they wanted, and people started killing people on a daily basis. Even if people didn’t directly hurt people, the norm was to pretend these things were not happening.
Even if someone got slashed for a bite of bread right in front of another person, they could and should not do anything about it if they wanted to remain among the living.
It was understandable how a young girl would be traumatized by the imagery.
"If we can stop the heavenly mass coming straight at us, sure."
Gale wanted to cry. "Can’t the government do something?"
"I already sent emails and messages. What are the chances they’d believe me?" The siblings could only look down in dismay, knowing full well that something like this was too difficult to believe.
Speaking of this, Kael mentioned that he also sent messages and emails to government agencies, but using the capacity of a mysterious hacker.
He certainly couldn’t reveal his real identity, as it would lead to more trouble than advantages. However, unlike Naia, Kael at least had better skills in hacking. He could certainly send emails that would appear much more alarming in the eyes of the government.
Later, Naia would find out that Kael had directly sent a virus to essential government agencies, forcing them to read the email contents.
It was the kind that they had to read everything and pass the written test at the end if they wanted to use their computers again.
In order for the big moves to avoid leading back to Naia, Kael also sent similar and varying warnings from different sources, as well as to different countries. He also placed a lot of misleading clues.
Since the threat was low and almost like a prank, it was doubtful that too many resources would be placed in tracking him. Even if they did, it would only be during the first week or so. Too many things were happening in the world, and few people would waste excessive amounts of money looking for him.
By the time experts grab their tail, it would’ve already been a month or two, and the apocalypse would have already begun.
As for how things would develop after that was already beyond their scope. They had done their part.
As for how to warn the masses, they could only go through literature. She had already contacted some printing companies to create a paperback copy of the book. She had already paid upfront for them to prepare the covers and marketing collateral.
The webnovel didn’t have to be complete for them to publish the paperback. They could just divide it into books, and there should be enough material within the week for it.
While she was away, Linlin had been working hard on the novel.
Linlin had, apparently, already uploaded more than 30,000 words. She reckoned it would be good timing to advertise it once more. Her current update rate was about 3000 words per day lately, so this number was bound to spike up.
The new webnovel cover was also very attractive. As it should. She commissioned one of the top graphic artists in the world to draw it, expediting the timeline by paying twice their asking cost.
Naia looked at their group chat, which must be the most active family chat ever. She checked it every day, and there were always 99+ unread messages in there.
The last message was Linlin bragging that she got her 5000th subscriber today.
[BigSisNaia: Congratulations!]
[TopAuthorLin: It’s all thanks to your marketing efforts!] The marketing cost hundreds of thousands of danas! After the next push, it would cross a million, which was more marketing cost than what 99% of webnovel authors would receive in a book’s lifetime.
[BigSisNaia: It wouldn’t have such a high retention rate if it weren’t written well.] Naia said.
[HandsomeHans: Outside of school activities and our required exercises and sleeping, Linlin used all her remaining time to write! I can barely see her fingers when she’s typing!]
[TopAuthorLinlin: I’m saving the world! It’s a superpower!]
[Linda.Hearth72: Yes, yes, our hero.] Even grandma went active online lately. It started when she realized that her granddaughter was getting fans, so she naturally wanted to join in. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
Linlin and Hans were quite patient in teaching her technology until she could finally get the hang of it now. Now, she even watches those dramatic shorts and had entered her doomscrolling phase.
Naia smiled, missing them already.
