Planet Vs Aliens: Space User Saves the World
Chapter 27: Earning More
When the waiter and the other staff members arrived with her takeout food, they saw her mood and wondered for a moment whether she regretted ordering so much.
Naia gathered herself and smiled beautifully at them, and they couldn’t help but gape a bit. Naia was really quite pretty.
"Thank you," she said, taking the bags with her. They were large eco-bags, and each one was quite heavy, but she carried them all by herself.
They gaped again, but this time for a different reason.
She headed out and found an alley with no cameras nearby and placed the food in the static area. When she got her shelves, she’d pile them up so she couldn’t reach the top even if she tiptoed.
As for what she was going to do next...it was to rob that place, of course! Most of that cash, gold, and jewelry they were playing around with were kept inside the room. She’d like to use them for the greater good.
She doubted their working hours were 9-to-5, though, so she might have to wait several more hours before she could attempt a break-in.
While waiting, she went to get her hair dyed to the more common colors. The more she used her power, the more her hair and eyes returned to the previous coloring. Having streaks of red hair over black was too eye-catching.
Next, she bought a whole black ensemble, including a cap and gloves. Even if she disabled a few CCTVs, there were plenty that escaped her notice.
Since she was already there, she also bought some of the clothing requirements from her list. This included some sturdy leather pants and jackets, some change of clothing, underwear, and so on. She also bought a few pairs of shoes, including slippers, rubber shoes, safety shoes, and so on.
Later that night, when she saw that the light inside the room was still open, she just spent a few more hours shopping. Anyway, that was the downtown area, and there were shops open until late night, and she wasn’t the type to be idle.
She decided to eat dinner in the same restaurant to get a bit more information. She even visited the store on the other side, though it was a maid cafe, so it was a bit awkward.
When the bastards finally decided to leave the office—they were going to a bar to spend their ’hard earned money’ to drown in booze and find women—Naia realized she could actually run away from a cafe.
She went out and changed her clothing, returning with her ensemble appearance. Her hair was tied under the cap, and due to the loose hoodie, people might not even know she was a girl.
It was not difficult to enter. When she was observing the target unit using the space, she had taken in every bit of information she could, including the door password, where the CCTVs were, and so on.
She also knew that there was a nice, hollow area under one of the tiles where they hid things. There were also wads of cash hidden above the ceiling tiles.
It was just that the place was messy and reeked of smelly men and alcohol. Naia scrunched her nose, though she later berated herself for becoming so queasy after staying in this world for a few days.
She looked around and saw the CCTVs. Each room had one. She did not destroy them lest it send out alarms somewhere. Instead, she just used her space to cover them with handkerchiefs.
The first thing she did was to open the safe. She knew the password from her spying session earlier. Her green eyes brightened when she saw the bars of gold piled up as well as the wads of cash. There were also several documents there, including ledgers.
She wasn’t planning on getting deeply involved in this, but she took the documents anyway, just because. Interestingly, she also saw a folder with a file about a person.
She realized it was the chemist they were targeting. Curious, she decided to read through.
The target’s name was Dock Houffen, 35 years old, a genius chemist who finished his undergraduate studies when his peers were still in high school. His appearance in the photo resembled a homeless man, though.
As she read more, it became clear why he was being targeted.
The man developed fuel using vegetable waste, the kind that could actually be mass-produced.
Turning vegetable to fuel had long existed and was quite attractive in theory. But the waste was too messy, logistics too expensive, and the low energy density prohibited its use on a larger scale.
But somehow this guy fixed those problems to the point that they could actually replace fossil fuels.
So...how could oil companies allow him to exist?
He was also a very simple target without background or protection, so those companies simply hired local thugs. It would be easier to clear their traces as well.
There were also notes about his schedule and itinerary, which were literally just his home or his rented laboratory, which was just one of the storage units in the town.
She silently took note of these things before placing them all in her space.
There was still the odd sticky sensation whenever she placed the gold or the gems, but she could place them in, so she did.
It wasn’t the kind of ’sticky’ that acted like there was some sort of barrier. There was no such thing. It was more like the feeling of dropping something in slime and trying to take it back, only to fail.
The unknown was scary. Before, she refused to place the items in her space because she couldn’t risk losing her remaining source of funds. Now, there was not much of a choice anymore. It wasn’t like she could drag all these in plastic bags, right?
Anyway, she continued her shopping, heading to the treasure hidden underneath the tiles and above the ceiling tiles, placing them all inside her space without blinking.
She was acting like a bandit, as if everything here was hers in the first place!
Naia used her mind’s eye to look at the wads of cash and piles of gold, silver, and gems inside her space.
They were beautiful!
Heh, who says earning money is difficult!?
...
After placing everything of value inside her space, she finally left the wretched place and, after a few turns, started teleporting to different streets and alleys while removing her disguise bit by bit.
Even if those bastards combed through every camera in the area, they wouldn’t be able to find her.
She returned to her room with a happy smile on her face, jumping onto the bed and hugging the pillow!
She also fell asleep then and there, dreaming of beautiful, beautiful things.
...
Naia woke up early the next day, refreshed and happy.
Money breeds confidence, and confidence breeds happiness, indeed!
It was also the time for her to resume her shopping spree. She was looking forward to counting her gains from the previous night after having fallen asleep.
She wouldn’t dare pawn anything anymore in this town, just in case, but nothing was stopping her from counting!
It was just that...when she opened her space, the small hill of gems and special metals was gone, leaving behind bits of low-grade metals, stones, cash, and so on!
The value of the gems and gold was far higher than the cash bundles!
She paled, all the blood in her face disappearing.
Where is her gold?! Her precious gems?!
The anxiety did not last long, quickly replaced by befuddlement when she saw the state of her space.
"Huh?" she mumbled. "Did it get bigger?"
