Our Love Story: Hard to Guard Against the Sudden Love Strike
Chapter 738 - 709: Love in a Parallel Universe [031]
(Extra update for November Monthly Votes 13/13)
"You’re five years older than me, that’s nice." She smiled, her eyes curving.
"Age is not an issue," Simon Forrester glanced at his phone from the desktop monitor, smiling, "Haven’t you heard older men know how to care?"
She covered her face and giggled, "I’ll verify that!"
...
This weekend they spent another whole day together, eating, shopping, watching movies and going to concerts. Every night at nine, when Simon Forrester dropped Sienna Thorne at her doorstep, they’d hug each other reluctantly.
Up to now, Simon Forrester had only hugged her, kissed her hair and cheeks, never crossing the line.
She could sense his restraint and respect, and in fact, had already inwardly agreed to let him kiss her, but he seemed in no rush.
On the weekend evenings, after dinner, they strolled around the mall underneath the restaurant, partly to digest, partly because it wasn’t time to take Sienna home yet.
As they were walking, they passed by the Cartier store, and Simon Forrester suddenly said, "Want to go in and have a look?"
Guessing he wanted to buy her jewelry, Sienna instinctively refused, "No need, I don’t like wearing jewelry."
Simon Forrester smiled, taking her inside, "Let’s buy a pair of rings to wear."
Her heart instantly filled with happiness, and she smiled as she followed him in.
A sales assistant greeted them warmly, "Are you looking for jewelry or watches?"
Simon Forrester: "Looking at rings."
The sales assistant immediately said, "Congratulations to both of you," then led them to the diamond ring section, "Our wedding series is over here."
Sienna blushed and said, "Not for a wedding."
The sales assistant let their imagination run wild.
Simon Forrester: "Looking for a pair of rings suitable for daily wear, something simple."
Only then did the sales assistant transition from their ambiguous gaze to a normal one, taking them to see the 1895 and LOVE series.
"Both of these series are perfect for everyday wear and are very popular with urban elites." The assistant said while donning white gloves, "Let me know which one you like, and I’ll bring it out for you to try."
Simon Forrester gently asked Sienna, "See anything you like?"
Sienna pointed to a 3.5 mm gold band from the 1895 series, "How about this one?"
Simon Forrester signaled the assistant to take it out.
The assistant estimated their ring finger sizes and brought out a men’s and a women’s ring, setting them on the counter for them to try on.
"Let me put it on you." Simon Forrester picked up the women’s ring and gently slipped the band onto Sienna’s left ring finger, then picked up the men’s ring, "Now you put it on me."
Sienna blushed as she helped him slip it on.
Simon Forrester held her hand, and the rings on their fingers shone brightly under the light.
"Do you like it?" he asked.
Sienna shook her head, "Feels like something’s missing."
Just then, the sales assistant, noticing the watch on Simon Forrester’s left wrist, took a deep breath, and in the next second, brought out all the 1895 series rings from the glass display to the counter, and called others to bring all the LOVE series rings for Sienna to choose from.
Eventually, Sienna chose a ring from the 1895 series with a small diamond chip. The price wasn’t much different, and Simon Forrester was already about to pay when she reconsidered that it might be mistaken for a wedding ring due to the diamond, so she switched back to the plain one.
The sales assistant enthusiastically changed it back for her and kept recommending all kinds of pricey diamond rings, even bringing them right in front of her, making her quite embarrassed.
Despite the embarrassment, her gaze couldn’t help but be drawn to those intricately designed diamond rings.
Simon Forrester accompanied her, bending down to whisper in her ear, "Do you like it?"
Lost in thought, she turned to smile at him, "Just getting one is enough, let’s go."
Simon Forrester looked down at her petite, delicate nose, and the slightly upturned lips beneath it, swallowing slightly.
"Alright, next time then."
He paid, taking Sienna’s hand as they left the store.
Several sales assistants followed them out. Once they left, they chatted quietly...
"That girl is silly, the guy wears a watch worth over ten million but she only let him buy her a ring worth over seventy thousand." said the assistant who noticed Simon Forrester’s watch earlier.
"No way? What watch is worth ten million? That’s like wearing a three-bedroom apartment on your hand."
"Patek Philippe. It’s truly like having a house on your hand, what do you think? Some men may look low-key, but if you look at their accessories, especially their watches, you’ll see the real strength."
...
In the car, Sienna’s heart was fully focused on the simple band on her left ring finger. Simply looking wasn’t enough, after a while she even took out her phone to take pictures. Not only of herself, but at red lights, she’d also have Simon Forrester’s hand in the shot too.
"Are you posting it online?" Simon Forrester looked at Sienna who was adjusting the filter on the photo with a doting expression.
Sienna shook her head, sticking out her cute little tongue, "That would be too showy, it’s not good."
Simon Forrester laughed, raising his hand to ruffle her hair, "You really are special."
"Oh? How so?"
The green light turned on, and Simon Forrester stepped on the accelerator again. The car slowly moved forward in the long stream of traffic.
"In the words of Mr. Lu Xun, you are—pure, devoid of any vulgar interests."
Sienna burst out laughing and after a moment remembered her initial hesitation when she first got together with Simon, feeling embarrassed to speak.
She mumbled softly, "If you knew what was on my mind, you wouldn’t say that about me."
"What’s on your mind?"
Perhaps it was the promise ring now on her finger, and the fact that she’d be meeting Simon Forrester’s family in a few days that gave Sienna a heightened sense of security, as if their relationship was very stable. Feeling bold, she said, "I get jealous easily and tend to overthink."
"But you speak your mind. As long as you’re willing to talk, it’s not a problem because there’s always a solution."
Sienna smiled, "Then our personalities are really compatible, one willing to speak, the other willing to resolve."
Simon Forrester laughed, "Who’s to say we’re not? A perfect match."
.
The car stopped at the gate of the Thorne Family villa, and Simon Forrester held Sienna close, kissing her hair.
"We are still rushing on a project at work, I might have to work nights. If you want to meet, call me half a day in advance, I’ll arrange it."
Sienna nodded obediently, "Alright. If I miss you, can I come to your office?"
"Of course you can." He kissed her cheek, speaking softly, "Let me buy you a car? I can’t be at ease when you take a cab or the subway home at night. You see, even after you get off the subway, it’s a long walk home in the dark, I really worry."
