Zombie Bodyguard-Chapter 1515 - 1512: The Pursuit and the Escape
Ling Shuiyao called out a few times but didn’t get a response from Lin Tian. She couldn’t help but snort, "He just leaves without saying a word, so rude!"
Who would have thought, as soon as she finished speaking, Ling Zishan tapped lightly with her foot, like a nimble swallow, and flew out as well. Ling Shuiyao was stunned for a moment and then shouted, "Aunt, where are you going?"
"Don’t ask too much, I’ll be right back. If any other families show up, don’t mention the sword forging." Ling Zishan’s figure had already disappeared outside the pagoda, leaving only one sentence behind.
Ling Shuiyao turned to look at Charlotte, only to see a shadow, as Charlotte also rushed out from the top, leaving only two people in the sword forging room. Apart from a hole in the top of the sword furnace, it seemed as if nothing had happened.
"Young girl, go out, with your aunt around, nothing will happen." Tang Banqing looked up at the sky outside the passage, speaking calmly.
"What are they doing? I just seemed to have seen a purple shadow flying out. Could it be the freshly forged sword running off on its own?" Ling Shuiyao wondered in confusion.
Tang Banqing smiled and shook his head, saying, "There are many strange things in the world. A sword running off on its own, what’s strange about that? Did you think the energy Lin Tian integrated at the end was that simple?"
"What’s so complicated, isn’t it just his True Energy?" Ling Shuiyao frowned slightly, somewhat dismissive.
"You can think that way if you like." Tang Banqing chuckled without explaining further, took two steps out, and then turned back, "Oh, and remember what your aunt said, don’t mention today’s sword forging to anyone else."
Tang Banqing and Ling Shuiyao left the sword forging room, the stone door closing behind them. Then they went to the first floor of the Nine-story Pagoda, awaiting the arrival of the curious.
Meanwhile, out in the rain, after rushing out, Lin Tian was soon soaked by the heavy rain, but he didn’t care about such things. Standing at the edge of the canyon, he fully activated his super vision, covering the entire Qingshuang Pavilion Ruins. But to his dismay, there was no trace of the new sword within this range.
"Darn it, that ungrateful wolf cub runs quite fast." Lin Tian laughed angrily, his eyes flickering with a dangerous light.
The sword spirit escaping with the sword, Lin Tian indeed hadn’t anticipated. That guy was always chattering on, sometimes harmlessly humorous, and other times a wise historical witness. Now it seemed all this might have been an act. And he played the role so well, befitting an old fox living for thousands of years.
Before the sword was forged, it constantly guided Lin Tian on what materials to find and how to forge them. It turned out it did all that to reforge a new body for itself and then escape.
The newly forged sword was of far higher quality than the Sword of the King. As the sword spirit, how could it not be tempted? Now looking back, Lin Tian realized the sword spirit appeared very greedy for the Purple Flame Energy, which was probably just an act too.
With this new Divine Sword forged, the sword spirit restoring its former glory was just a matter of time.
"Clever, but do you think this is enough to shake me off and gain freedom from Lin Tian?" Lin Tian sneered, closing his eyes slightly in the rain, as a faint connection lingered in his mind.
Suddenly opening his eyes, Lin Tian’s feet jolted, and like a cannonball, he shot out, swiftly streaking along the edge of the canyon, his figure drawing a long trail in the rain.
Following this faint connection, Lin Tian ran for a mile before suddenly veering and jumping into the canyon.
The canyon, wedged between Qingshuang Pavilion’s inner chamber and the ruins, had cliff slopes close to ninety degrees, but Lin Tian didn’t hesitate, letting himself fall freely. Every time he passed a protruding stone, he kicked hard with both feet, gaining momentum to accelerate the fall.
Rain mist drifted in the canyon, and without super vision, Lin Tian couldn’t see the bottom. All he could hear was the increasing sound of water.
Finally, with a "boom," Lin Tian hit the water like a cannonball, a very powerful cannonball, sending water splashing up dozens of meters high, mixed with stones. Because Lin Tian’s speed into the water was too fast, he instantly reached the riverbed, churning up the stones from the riverbed.
Luckily he had a zombie body; if it had been an ordinary Ancient Martial Artist coming in so recklessly, even if they didn’t die, they would’ve been injured in the moment of impact with the water. It’s well-known that hitting the water at such speed is no different from hitting a concrete surface.
Not only was Lin Tian uninjured, but he also used the riverbed’s reactive force to burst out of the water. Once above the surface, he immediately swam downstream.
Even after swimming over ten meters away, the water splashes hadn’t completely receded, showing just how fast he was.
Chasing downstream for less than a mile, Lin Tian finally saw traces on the water’s surface hundreds of meters ahead—a white wave speeding forward as if a torpedo were firing beneath the surface.
Lin Tian knew that was his newly forged sword. Even though the sword spirit inhabited a new body, it, like the Sword of the King, still couldn’t fly, only moving by rebounding off surfaces, and underwater was its best escape route.
"Little Ya, do you think you can escape?" Lin Tian accelerated, closing the gap by a hundred meters, shouting out to the front.
The rolling white wave up front suddenly paused, but then continued forward at an even faster pace, speaking while rushing, "I’m already so far from you, taking the water route specifically. How can you still find me, Your Majesty?"
"Nonsense, did you think I spilled so much blood on the new sword for nothing? My blood is precious, you know!" Lin Tian sneered, revealing the reason that made the sword spirit despair.
By using his zombie blood to sacrifice the sword, Lin Tian naturally formed a mystical connection with the new sword, much like his daily blood sacrifices to forge the Crescent Blade. When the forging reached its highest level, he could achieve the Sword Control Realm.
Of course, at this moment, Lin Tian only had a connection with the new sword and hadn’t reached sword control. Otherwise, the sword spirit would have been subdued long ago.
"Boy, you’re tough!" the sword spirit cursed in anger and continued to flee.
"Hmph! You dare to throw a tantrum at me, living off me, dare to betray me, and you have the nerve to call yourself a king? If King Arthur resurrected, he’d be so furious he’d die again!" It was better not to provoke Lin Tian, who was now even angrier than the sword spirit.
"Boy, keeping me trapped inside, you call that living? Each time throwing me leftovers, you call that feeding? How dare you speak like that! Besides, this king never accepted you as a master. Without being a master, where’s the betrayal?" Unexpectedly, the sword spirit’s rage was even greater, arguing with seemingly valid reasoning.
Lin Tian almost laughed with anger, thinking this guy has quite a grudge, and couldn’t help but retort, "I broke the seal to rescue you, and instead of being grateful, you run off with my new sword. Is this the code of honor King Arthur taught you?"
This time, it seemed the sword spirit had a guilty conscience. After a moment of silence, it defensively said, "The shape-shifting stone was found by this king, so the new sword is partly mine too."
But its voice was much softer, knowing that even without the shape-shifting stone, Lin Tian could still smelt the Meteorite Heart with the Purple Flame.
