Chapter 57: Chapter 57: STD

During the apocalypse, Kate used to invite Ivy to their home and used to make Ivy do all the chores in the name of Ivy being their future daughter-in-law.

At first, Ivy resisted, but the Ravencroft family kept on pushing Ivy to do the work.

It was because of the dowry, Angelina’s family had promised to give that tempted the Ravencroft family to blindly listen to Angelina’s family.

Angelina’s family was one of the families who had hoarded at the last moment and had more than enough to eat for the next 1 year carefreely.

.........

Seraphina shook her head, showing a helpless expression, and said,

"I can’t order her now. If I dare to go near her, she acts like a crazy dog."

Kate wasn’t convinced; in her opinion, Ivy was just a meek and timid girl who could be ordered around without any problem.

A servant and a temporary toy, her son liked.

’Hmph! They must have gone easy on Ivy. One slap is enough to make that girl come to her senses! I will deal with her.’

However, she didn’t express her opinion and focused on finishing her food.

After lunch, Kate knocked on the storage room’s door while Seraphina and Isla hid in one of the rooms and watched the drama from the sidelines.

They didn’t care who would win. Either way, they hated both Kate as well as Ivy.

Ivy ignored the knocking at first; however, when it became too persistent to ignore, she sighed and opened it.

Seeing Kate’s furious expression, she asked in a nonchalant voice,

"What do you want?"

For a moment, no words left Kate’s mouth.

Was this Ivy?

The pink-haired woman with a mysterious aura and beauty capable of bringing down a nation...

Her eyes were radiating an unspeakable confidence, while her movements, though looking lazy, carried elegance.

’Control Kate! Control! You need to teach this tramp a lesson. Otherwise, your son will suffer. Not to mention, the house chores haven’t been done yet, and you need this slave for that.’

Kate forced a stiff smile and straightened her shoulders.

"Ivy, dear, I’ve heard you’ve been skipping chores. That won’t do. Come help me do the chores in my house, there are dishes to wash and floors to mop."

Isla rolled her eyes and muttered in her heart,

’Hmph! This Kate is still the sly fox! She knows how to strike when the iron is hot!’

Ivy leaned against the doorframe, arms folded. "No."

Kate blinked. "Pardon?"

"I said no." Ivy’s voice was light, almost lazy, but her gaze was sharp enough to cut glass.

Kate’s face reddened.

"Young lady, I am speaking for your own good. A girl must learn her place. You’re going to be part of our household, and you’ll do as you’re told."

"I’m not part of your household," Ivy replied calmly. "And even if I were, I wouldn’t be your maid."

Kate’s lips thinned. She lifted her hand, ready to slap. "How dare you—!"

Ivy caught Kate’s wrist mid‑swing. Her grip was iron. Kate gasped as pain shot up her arm.

"Think carefully," Ivy whispered, eyes inches from Kate’s. "Do you really want to start something you can’t finish?"

Kate tried to yank free, but Ivy’s fingers tightened. "Ahh! Let go of me!"

Ivy released her at once. Kate stumbled back, bumping into the doorframe.

"Here’s what will happen," Ivy said, voice steady.

"You’ll leave me alone. And I won’t tell anyone about your son having an STD. If you dare to disturb me again, I will show how b*tchy I can become. And remember..."

She walked near Kate and stared at her with raw anger in her eyes,

"If you dare to hit me or insult me. I will expose the affairs you are having and hit back."

Kate’s entire body froze, and her eyes widened in horror.

"You... you know?" she stammered, her voice barely a whisper.

Ivy smiled coldly and mockingly.

"Did you think you were being discreet? Leaving the house every Saturday claiming to go to church, yet returning with smudged lipstick and a fake prayer book?"

Kate’s face turned ghostly pale.

Behind the hallway corner, Seraphina almost choked in shock while Isla covered her mouth, eyes wide like saucers.

Ivy leaned in, her voice a sharp whisper filled with poison.

"You’re not the only one who can dig into someone’s past, Kate. I’ve been very quiet all these years, but not anymore. You try to humiliate me in front of people, and I will take you down... brick by brick."

Kate opened her mouth to defend herself, but Ivy wasn’t done.

"I don’t need your approval, your household, or your disgusting son. You think you’re powerful?

You’re just an aging woman trying to stay relevant by using the apocalypse as an excuse to chain others."

Kate took a step back, heart thudding.

Ivy tilted her head and smiled, sweet but venomous. "Now, if you’re done embarrassing yourself, get lost."

Kate turned around stiffly and walked off in silence, her head low, trembling with humiliation.

Once she disappeared down the hallway, Ivy shut the door calmly and locked it.

Inside the other room, Seraphina turned to Isla and muttered with disbelief,

"Did you know about Kate’s affairs?"

Isla shook her head, stunned.

"No... but this Ivy... she’s terrifying. Mom... I don’t think we can ever deal with her. Did you see her aura? She looked like a monster from hell!"

..............

Kate stared at the closed door and gritted her teeth,

"Just abandon the child from the slums... dare to raise her voice? Just wait, how I will deal with you."

After reaching the dining location, she announced in a cold voice,

"This marriage can’t happen."

Everyone was stunned by Kate’s words, and Angelina stood up,

"Mom, what are you talking about?"

However, in her heart, she was panicking.

’If I don’t get married to Damian within 6 months, I will never have the chance to marry him! System! System!’

[Yes, host?]

’What is Damian’s current Success Score?’
