Your Lord Has A Screw Loose?-Chapter 288 - 290: If You Can’t Beat Them, Resort to Pulling Strings
Chapter 288: Chapter 290: If You Can’t Beat Them, Resort to Pulling Strings
“Come, Dionysus, this is your sister Melinoe, the Goddess of Dead Souls,” Hades warmly introduced Qin Muye to the woman across from him.
Qin Muye sized up the woman. Melinoe was much taller than him and looked very strange. She wore a saffron veil over her face, and her skin was half black and half white, overall incredibly odd and nothing like a normal human.
“I get that you might have been driven crazy by boredom recently, but could you not fool me? Let’s not mention the fact that she is taller than me, can you explain why she looks so much older than me too?” Qin Muye remarked sarcastically.
The Titan Divine Race has always been full of oddities; being this big at birth is pretty normal for them.
“Cerberus is also an offspring of Typhon, so what’s the problem with your sister being taller and older than you?” Hades said slowly.
Melinoe was rather cold to Qin Muye, seemingly not very fond of him, and Qin Muye wasn’t too keen on dealing with her either, since he could sense that her divine authority had some connection with Persephone’s, and it seemed to involve fear and madness.
...
“No problem, really no problem. But are you sure she’s yours and not the next-door neighbor Zeus’s? Zeus has been lingering around here recently…” Qin Muye’s unrestrained manner made Hades’s face darken.
After all, what Qin Muye said was indeed lacking in emotional intelligence.
“No, you can rest assured,” Hades thought it necessary to teach Qin Muye the art of conversation but then was surprised to find that Qin Muye had changed quite a bit, becoming even more terrifying in strength, as if facing the Hell Abyss Divine Tower Tartarus itself.
But Qin Muye was purer, and the divine authority he nurtured from Chaos surpassed that within, almost like Chaos Chaos itself.
“How did you get even stronger recently?” Hades thought the art of conversation could be something Qin Muye would learn on his own. If he ended up teaching him, and Qin Muye became stronger than him, he might have to come back to learn the art of language from him.
So… he chickened out.
It seemed that Qin Muye’s presence had caused quite a change in Hades; at least it had brought some entertainment so that he wasn’t focused on becoming the Divine King all the time.
The desire for power had decreased quite a bit, though the specific reason was unclear to Qin Muye.
“Well, it’s a long story, but to cut a long story short, I devoured a world not long ago,” Qin Muye sighed as he spoke.
Hades almost choked. Was the world outside changing this fast?
Not long ago, he remembered Qin Muye still needed protection, and now he was capable of devouring worlds.
“But that’s a minor matter. This time, I’m here to find some external assistance; I’ve switched servers recently and need some people to help me with a quest,” Qin Muye said without a hint of formality.
He had always been investing in fairy tales, and now it was time for a return on his investment.
He even gave the Horror Universe to them. Cronus was also a second-generation Divine King and naturally a part of the Titan Divine Race.
Zeus claimed to be unhappy, but in reality, he was quite pleased.
With the absence of Cronus and the other second-generation Titans, his position was much more secure. He had recently promoted several illegitimate children to fill various positions, grasping all power tightly in his hands, and had even become much more efficient in his external affairs.
“You want Thanatos and Hypnos to help you, right? That’s impossible; they have to maintain Death and can’t leave,” Hades instantly saw through Qin Muye’s intentions.
He was aware that Qin Muye had been eyeing those two brothers for a long time, and indeed, they were extremely powerful. If not bound by their duties, even the gods would have to avoid them because of their authority.
“Ah, that… I actually wanted them to be my double-pronged pitchfork weapon, such a pity. If that’s not possible…”
“Charon isn’t available either.”
“…” Qin Muye was at a loss for words, as Charon was also very strong, being a brother to the Death God and the Sleep God and a descendant of the primordial Dark Goddess, he was naturally remarkable.
“You can look for Hecate, her strength is more than enough,” Hades suggested.

As for the loitering Hate Titan Styx, he had been taken by Cronus to the Horror Universe, so it was a good thing that Hecate, as the Witchcraft Goddess of the Night, had managed to hide quickly, or she might have been dragged there too.
Qin Muye pondered for a moment; Hecate indeed was qualified. As the Witchcraft Goddess of the Night, aside from her lackluster magic, her strength was truly formidable.
“Cerberus will also be loaned to you. With his protection, you can be assured of facing no issues.”
“As for the others, you’ll have to seek Gaia; she can provide you with help.”
Hades wasn’t stingy at all, he even lent him the dog.
Thinking about it, Hades really was so poor all he had left was the dog, with the other deities of the Netherworld each busy with their own affairs.
The weapons were truly shabby too, only the double-pronged pitchfork and the invisibility helmet were somewhat noteworthy, but they were symbols of status and couldn’t be lent out, otherwise Qin Muye would definitely have borrowed them.
“Fine, I’ll have to do it myself.”
Hecate didn’t have any issues, the two hit it off well, and Qin Muye even gifted her quite a few magical tomes, but it was a pity Hecate didn’t care for these books. Although she was the Witchcraft Goddess of the night, that wasn’t her only title; she was also the Triple Goddess, the Queen of Ghosts, and the Hell Goddess.
In truth, Hades lending Cerberus to him was a sign of stability. Despite being a three-headed dog, Cerberus’s strength was nothing to scoff at.
A progeny of Typhon, Cerberus was tier 7, even stronger than Qin Muye.
One bite from one of its heads, and Qin Muye wouldn’t be enough for the three heads of Cerberus to share.
But it was still not enough to possess the power to decide victory, so Qin Muye needed at least five or more of the tier 8 Titan Divine Race.
So Cerberus alone was insufficient, even though one tier 8 could sweep through the outer heavens’ Demon Machine Emperor, having more was definitely safer.
There was no big issue with Hecate; as for the rest… indeed, all the deities of the Netherworld couldn’t leave as they had to maintain the balance between life and death.
So Qin Muye had no choice but to turn to Gaia, after all, he had a favor to call in, having helped Cronus out.
“But where do I even start looking for Gaia?” Qin Muye felt somewhat helpless. Even though Gaia was the embodiment of the Earth, that didn’t mean she paid attention to every nook and cranny of it, just as a person can’t see every part of themselves. Qin Muye wasn’t a person though, so he didn’t count.
“I’ll contact her for you. But do you want your sister to protect you? She may have been born not long ago, but she’s more than capable of looking after your puny figure,” Hades offered.
“No need for that, keep your darling to yourself. I don’t need it,” Qin Muye firmly declined.
This Goddess of Dead Souls, Melinoe, definitely wasn’t easy to handle, and having her by his side might mean that Qin Muye wouldn’t even be able to sleep peacefully.
The mere horror of the souls wafting from that saffron veil of hers said it all.
“That’s too bad. She hasn’t even started her duties yet; it would have been a good opportunity for her to see the world with you. But you’ve refused, so never mind,” Hades said with some regret.
He too had seen that Melinoe was indeed cold, and Qin Muye, being rational and wary of her capabilities, had therefore declined.
But he didn’t press the matter.
“What’s there to regret? The deities of the Netherworld work like 007 every day, harder even than the Spirit Monsters under my command. It’s better for her to start early and get used to it,” Qin Muye quipped.
Hades nearly exploded with anger at these words: “The order of life and death will never cease, so…”
“So you lot work 24/7 without pay, and the only vacation you had was when Thanatos got tied up by Sisyphus, and in the end, you still had to work double time to catch up,” Qin Muye finished for him.
“…” For a moment, Hades was left speechless.
And Melinoe didn’t quite grasp the exchange between the two, as she still needed to acclimate.
However, she could sense that her job… seemed to be a trap?
“Dionysus, stop scaring your sister. She’s still young,” Persephone intervened.
“Not young at all—she’s fully grown with that look and height. A non-stop job is beckoning her,” Qin Muye insisted on solid evidence.
Persephone glared at Qin Muye and then left with the puzzled Melinoe, fearing any further conversation might complicate things.
Not every member of the Titan Divine Race led a life free of divine duties like Qin Muye, enjoying life as they wished. Authority naturally came with responsibilities.
Melinoe was born stronger than Qin Muye, hence she was naturally endowed with the duty to uphold the cosmic order.
Each Titan Divine was the same, even Zeus, though he spent his days shirking responsibilities and getting involved in scandals, still bore the burdens of a Divine King.
