Young Master Vance Has An Enchanting Wife!-Chapter 463: Mason Morgan’s Unexpected Death
"Okay, remember to call me if anything comes up. I’ll send someone to support you." Victor Grant gave May Morgan a faint smile, reassuring her.
May said nothing else, turned around, and walked out. Vincent Vance, seeing her finally come out, quickly stood up from the sofa and went to meet her.
"Shall we go?" In front of Heather Holt, Vincent couldn’t say much, so he smiled and took May’s hand, leading her out of the room.
Once in the car, Vincent tentatively asked May, "What did you and Victor Grant discuss in the room?"
May knew he was suspicious and would definitely ask, so she answered openly, "Not much. He said that after I return to Crestwood, he’ll take me to France to divorce, and we’ll be like siblings from then on."
"Is that all?" Despite this great news, Vincent didn’t seem particularly interested and continued to probe.
May gave Vincent a surprised look and asked back, "Is there supposed to be more? Victor is willing to let go. What else do you think he should say to me?"
"Did he... mention wanting to go to Crestwood with us?" Vincent asked May unwillingly, probing further.
May quickly shook her head and replied, "No, he’s not in good health; how could he go to Crestwood? Even if he wanted to, I wouldn’t agree."
"Oh... then never mind." Vincent glanced at May, knowing she wasn’t lying, and quickly shut his mouth.
Heather Holt couldn’t have lied to him about those things, so before Victor must have wanted to go to Crestwood with them. But why did he change his mind when it came to May?
Did he genuinely change his mind, or does he have other intentions?
When they returned to Zenith Villa, as soon as they got home, the bodyguards came up to inform Vincent that Mason Morgan had fainted in the basement.
Mason was always sly and unpredictable. Vincent, afraid Mason was playing tricks, instructed the bodyguards to pour a bucket of cold water on the unconscious Mason, waking him up directly.
The cold water shocked Mason, making him shiver uncontrollably, and he truly didn’t seem to be faking illness.
May watched from the side, feeling a bit troubled. After all, no matter what, he was her father. Even though they had no feelings between them and he had harmed her several times, it would be bad if it led to a death, right?
"Should we send him to the hospital first? If he dies, how can we confront my grandfather in Crestwood?" May turned to Vincent for his opinion.
Vincent examined Mason’s face for a moment and then agreed, "Alright, take this guy to the hospital. If he dares to play me, I’ll make sure he regrets it."
Upon hearing this, the bodyguards quickly lifted the soaking wet Mason from the floor and took him to the hospital.
As May and Vincent emerged from the basement, Jacob Jennings called to inform them that Mr. Drake had suddenly disappeared.
Here’s the story: Jacob had temporarily left to inquire about Mr. Drake’s whereabouts at May’s hometown. When he drove back, he found that Mr. Drake had disappeared into thin air.
By "disappeared into thin air," there was a reasoning to it. Before leaving, Jacob, fearing that Mr. Drake might be up to something, had two special forces guarding the door. Both were well-trained and watched the small mountain courtyard without blinking. They saw no one coming or going and were convinced that Mr. Drake hadn’t left the courtyard. But when Jacob returned, Mr. Drake was nowhere to be found.
They searched the entire courtyard but found no hidden passages or trap doors. As for the back hill, the two special forces confirmed they were monitoring around the courtyard, so if anyone had climbed over the wall, it wouldn’t have gone unnoticed.
Mr. Drake’s disappearance was indeed suspicious, but the pressing question was why he had to leave at this particular moment. Was he guilty and afraid of being investigated by Vincent, or did he have another sinister agenda?
Vincent had a vague feeling that something more was bound to happen.
Sure enough, just after hanging up Jacob’s phone call, Vincent’s subordinate, responsible for taking Mason to the hospital, called to notify him that something had happened to Mason.
The two bodyguards had just delivered Mason to the hospital when he suddenly started foaming at the mouth and convulsing. They quickly sent him to the emergency room for treatment, but the situation was unclear. Fearing Vincent would blame them, they hurriedly informed him over the phone.
Vincent knew that Mason didn’t have a history of seizures and that the sudden convulsions and foaming were likely due to someone tampering with him. But who could have done it?
Mason had been confined to the basement by Vincent, with few ever knowing his presence, let alone getting close to him. Only someone able to poison him unbeknownst could have done it.
Could it be Logan Vance or that old woman still lurking in Silverwood City?
Vincent rushed with May to the hospital, and as soon as they arrived, the doctor wheeled out Mason’s lifeless body from the emergency room.
"I’m sorry, Mr. Vance. The patient’s condition was very peculiar. We didn’t manage to save him in time." The doctor apologized to Vincent.
Vincent lifted the sheet covering Mason’s face, saw his ashen face and his features twisted in immense pain, making for an incredibly horrific sight.
May wanted to take a look but was pulled back by Vincent in time. "Don’t look. He’s already dead."
"He... is still my father. I should at least see him." May glanced at Mason’s body on the operating table, gently released Vincent’s hand, and went to Mason’s corpse.
Mason looked particularly grim in death. May had never seen him so miserable, causing an involuntary pang of sadness in her heart. She had loathed this man all her life, even wishing for his death, yet now that he was really gone, she instinctively felt sorrow.
"Let’s go!" Vincent worried that May would feel heartbroken, so he quickly approached to pull her away.
As May turned, she inadvertently brushed against Mason’s dangling finger, causing a sharp pain in her fingertip as if bitten by something.
Startled, May quickly retracted her hand, her face filled with terror looking at Mason. Sensing something was wrong, Vincent asked with concern, "What’s wrong, May?"
"Nothing... nothing!" The sharp pain in her finger only lasted a moment, and after that, the sensation disappeared instantly. May looked at her fingertip, found nothing unusual, and replied calmly to Vincent.
