Young Master Vance Has An Enchanting Wife!-Chapter 376: Who Was the Killer
"Vincent, it was you who asked Monica to meet me last night, and showed me that video, right?"
Vincent nodded firmly, "Yes, I wanted you to know what kind of person Victor is."
May turned her head towards Victor again, asking word by word, "Then, was it you who orchestrated Monica’s sudden denial of the video’s existence last night?"
Victor, ever the experienced one, quickly denied sternly, "No, I wasn’t aware of the video beforehand, why would I threaten her?"
"Then... let’s have Monica come over and clarify things face-to-face?" May gave Vincent a meaningful glance, proposing to him.
Vincent was more than willing and immediately gestured to Jacob to bring Monica over.
About half an hour later, Monica was brought to Zenith Villa. When she stood in front of May, she appeared very uneasy. Seeing her constantly standing, May attempted to pull her hand to sit down, but before she could even touch Monica, she quickly retracted her hand, hiding it behind her back in fear.
May stared at her every move in surprise, somewhat embarrassed, "Monica, are you being threatened?"
May carefully asked, looking at Monica’s weary appearance.
Monica didn’t dare to look up at her, just repeatedly shaking her head in denial, "No, no, how could I be threatened? No..."
Really not? Then why does she have this expression? 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞
"Monica Lambert, I’m warning you, if you dare to spew nonsense, don’t blame me for being rude!"
Before Vincent could speak, Victor hurriedly threatened her with a dark face.
Monica was already afraid of Victor, and his threat only made her tremble all over, not knowing how to speak.
May angrily glared at Victor, who just coldly snorted and turned his face away.
"Monica, yesterday it was I who asked you to bring the video to May, but why did you deny the video’s existence later? Is someone threatening you? If so, I’ll stand up for you." Vincent asked in a deep voice, looking at Monica’s frightened demeanor.
Monica swallowed hard, struggling to say to Vincent, "Young Master Vance, you must be mistaken, I haven’t seen you in a long time. Where did the video come from?"
Hmm?
Vincent and Jacob exchanged glances, and Jacob quickly reminded Monica, "Monica, I drove to pick you up yesterday, did you forget?"
Monica looked at the two with a blank expression, "I’ve never seen you guys. Are you mistaken?"
At this point, Victor hastily cleared his throat, stood up quickly from the sofa, and spoke on Monica’s behalf, "She’s just a young girl, isn’t it unfair to trouble her like this? Whether she did it or not, doesn’t she know herself?"
Vincent looked at Monica with some disappointment, thinking that perhaps her family was being threatened by Victor so she didn’t dare to tell the truth. But it didn’t matter; they still had an ace up their sleeve.
"If you don’t remember, that’s fine. Jacob, take this man to the police station and let Director Miller check his identity. If necessary, it can be publicly addressed."
Vincent pointed to the half-dead assassin on the ground, signaling to Jacob.
"Got it!" Jacob replied swiftly, bending over to grab the assassin, intending to take him to the police station. However, just as his hand touched the person’s body, the person suddenly let out a heart-wrenching scream, followed by violent convulsions.
Everyone was stunned by the sight. Since Monica was closest to the man, May rushed over to pull Monica by the arm to the side, fearing his appearance would frighten her.
Monica just stared blankly at the man, who was continuously convulsing and foaming at the mouth, yet she showed no signs of fear.
After convulsing on the ground for a minute, the man suddenly bled from all orifices, letting out even more pained groans.
At this moment, a white figure suddenly appeared from the second floor of Zenith Villa, grabbing the man’s hand who was bleeding from all orifices.
"He’s been poisoned!" Mr. Landry caught the man’s hand, diagnosing for a moment before watching him suddenly exhale his last breath, lying dead on the ground, and sighed.
Vincent’s face darkened, he quickly wheeled over to Mr. Landry, "How did he get poisoned?"
This man had always been well protected by Vincent and never had contact with outsiders. How could he have been poisoned and died at such a critical time?
Who poisoned him? Was it one of the people present?
Vincent coldly surveyed his surroundings, silently pondering.
Jacob? Impossible, he’s utterly loyal to me, there’s no way he’d betray us.
Victor? That’s a high possibility, but he doesn’t seem to understand the Poisonous Insect Technique, does he? Moreover, it happened right under his nose, in front of May, how could he have poisoned him?
May? That’s even more impossible, May’s not that kind of person, Vincent could tell she wanted to come back to him. If she didn’t, she wouldn’t have pressured Victor for answers.
If it’s none of them, then... Monica?
When it happened, Monica was closest to the man and most likely to poison him. But Monica is just an ordinary girl; how could she have done it? Besides, if it really was her, how did she get involved in this mess?
Looking up at Monica, who stood silently behind May, Vincent’s eyes flickered with a faint light.
The man’s death was gruesome, and normally even they would be moved by it, let alone Monica, an ordinary girl. Yet, Monica remained indifferent throughout, her eyes fixated on the body on the floor, showing no hint of fear on her face.
This was not the behavior of an ordinary girl; hence, she was the most suspicious person.
Seeing the man dead, a burden was lifted off Victor’s mind. Though he didn’t know why it was such a coincidence, he felt that as long as the man was dead, there would be no evidence left.
"Vincent, you really put on quite a show!" Victor sneered, wilfully accusing Vincent.
Jacob, incensed by these words, wanted to argue, but Vincent stopped him with a gesture, "Right and wrong are clear in people’s hearts. This man clearly died from poisoning, Victor, don’t be too smug. You know better than I do what happened."
Mr. Landry stood up from the deceased’s side and glanced at Vincent and Jacob, saying, "The manner of this man’s death is indeed suspicious. Young Master Vance, perhaps it should be taken to the police station for a forensic examination. If it was poisoning, then there’s more to it."
Since the man was already dead, Victor wasn’t afraid and casually said to Vincent, "Then send it, I’m not afraid of you!"
