Chapter 353: Chapter 353: Past and Present Lives

May Morgan took the Jade Pendant from his hand and glanced at it. The real Jade Pendant pressed against her palm triggered an instant wave of fear, causing her to shiver instinctively.

Indeed, this was the real Jade Pendant. No matter how convincing the one in her hand looked, it lacked that terrifying feeling altogether.

"Did you see it? This is the real Jade Pendant." Seeing May’s face turning serious, Jacob Jennings quickly explained to her, "For the sake of this Jade Pendant and to protect Mr. Landry, we deliberately swapped clothes with those two people before leaving, destroyed their bodies. Later, when you saw the Poisonous Insects, I suspected Logan Vance might have been there. To prevent the situation from escalating, he destroyed the bodies and released some Poisonous Insects."

May nodded in realization and said, "No wonder those Poisonous Insects weren’t aggressive. Moreover, they were just ordinary bugs. I think by that time, Logan Vance must have already obtained this fake Jade Pendant and left. Without anyone manipulating them, the Poisonous Insects lost their aggression and became like normal bugs."

Actually, Poisonous Insects hurt people mostly because of manipulation. Those Poisonous Insect Masters would release powders or scents that excited the insects, using them to confuse or control the insects to attack humans. But without these controls, they are no different from ordinary insects and won’t actively harm people.

As they talked, May suddenly realized something. She turned to Jacob Jennings and asked curiously, "You mentioned there was someone Victor Grant couldn’t meet in the car earlier. Could it be Master Landry?"

"Yes, it’s him. I’m taking you to see him now." Jacob Jennings smiled mysteriously at May.

The car soon arrived at Jacob Jennings’ villa, where Master Landry and his disciple Samuel Zimmerman appeared unharmed before May.

May took a closer look at this seventy-year-old man. He was white-haired, lean in physique, and appeared to be in good spirits.

Upon seeing May, Master Landry discreetly assessed her several times, making May feel quite uncomfortable.

"Master Landry, I’ve heard you have a way to awaken Vincent Vance, is that true?" May coughed awkwardly and hurriedly asked.

Master Landry nodded, indicating for May to take out the real Jade Pendant. After May handed over the Jade Pendant, he examined it carefully and explained to May, "The Jade Pendant indeed seals an Evil Spirit, and Young Master Vance’s soul has been entangled by that Evil Spirit. To release Young Master Vance’s soul, the Evil Spirit must also be released simultaneously."

May had anticipated this outcome; however, even if the Jade Pendant was a Pandora’s box, as long as it could save Vincent Vance’s life, she was willing to try.

"Sir, do you have any way to help me?" May asked Master Landry cautiously.

Master Landry glanced at Jacob Jennings, and after confirming silently with him, Jacob Jennings took Samuel Zimmerman and exited the room without a word.

"I heard you have the Dragon Insect inside you, correct?" The elderly man stroked his beard thoughtfully as he looked at May.

May nodded, candidly explaining to him, "A few months ago, I was framed by my sister; an elderly woman skilled in Poisonous Insect Technique in Crestwood cursed me. After the Dragon Insect entered my body, it began to change drastically."

"Do you know what kind of insect this Dragon Insect is?" the elderly man asked again, observing May. 𝚏𝕣𝕖𝚎𝚠𝚎𝚋𝚗𝐨𝐯𝕖𝕝.𝕔𝐨𝕞

May shook her head, looking bewildered: "I don’t know, but I know this Dragon Insect was once sealed in the Jade Pendant, which I’ve worn since I was little. As for the reason, I’m unsure. Oh, right, I’ve always feared the dark because strange things appear when I’m surrounded by darkness, but as long as I have the Jade Pendant, those things won’t dare approach me."

She cautiously observed the elderly man and continued to ask, "Sir, since you asked, you must know the secret between me and the Jade Pendant, right?"

Looking at the elderly man, with his kind eyes and serene appearance, May thought he must possess great wisdom; otherwise, Jacob Jennings wouldn’t have gone through so much trouble to bring her here.

Perhaps he could unveil her family background? Discover the connections among the Jade Pendant, Dragon Insect, and herself?

After hearing May’s inquiry, the elderly man paused his beard-stroking fingers. He smiled warmly at May and said, "I don’t know your background, but I do have a gift for spiritual communication that might be of some assistance."

Spiritual communication? Could this elderly man really communicate with spirits?

May stared at him in shock, yet he slowly extended his right hand to her, gesturing, "Please place your right hand in my palm."

After a brief hesitation, May did as she was told. As soon as her hand touched the old man’s palm, she instantly felt as if the world was whirling around her, her entire being beginning to float.

May teetered, feeling as though she plummeted into a whirlpool, losing any ability to control the forces around her, ultimately succumbing to the sensation.

Seeing May about to fall, the elderly man quickly grasped her hand. Although it was only a subtle force, it was enough to steady May’s body, preventing her from shaking further.

"Close your eyes. Open them only when I tell you to." Holding May’s hand, the elderly man instructed.

May complied, patiently waiting for about a minute until she heard the old man softly say, "You can open them now."

Upon hearing this, May eagerly opened her eyes, only to find the previously bright room now pitch black, rendering everything invisible.

This darkness was the kind May feared most. Whenever she found herself in such darkness, terrifying things would appear.

Her body trembled as she instinctively wanted to flee, but her hand was still held firmly, making it impossible to move. She glanced down at her right hand; even though she couldn’t see the elderly man, the grasp on her hand felt unchanged, and the warmth from his palm made her feel at ease.

She understood that the elderly man had brought her into an illusionary world, with his hand being the only means pulling her back to reality. If they separated, she might never return.

Thinking of this, May calmed down, ceased her struggle, and gazed at the endless blackness around her but saw none of the usual terrifying creatures.

Just as she was utterly confused, a flash of red light appeared overhead, revealing a dragon as red as blood before her.

This dragon was identical to the one she had seen in the Crestwood sky once before, and without knowing why, when May first laid eyes on it, she felt it should be the Dragon Insect within her.
