Young Master Vance Has An Enchanting Wife!-Chapter 329: I Just Want to See Him
"I never said I wanted to abandon you or our marriage. No matter how you convinced me to marry you back then, I’m your wife now. I accept that, but I am not your possession. I have the freedom to meet anyone I want, and you have no right to interfere!" 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
"I don’t care. As long as I’m alive, I won’t let you see Vincent. Give up on that idea!"
Victor Grant was stubborn too. The more May Morgan challenged him, the less he wanted to back down. He would rather go down together with her than return her to Vincent Vance.
When Victor Grant slammed the door and left again, this time he was genuinely determined to ignore May Morgan. He had his own temper and limits and wouldn’t let a woman lead him by the nose.
Upon leaving, he returned directly to the U.K. Before he left, he instructed the household staff to take good care of May Morgan. They must provide her with meals, whether she eats or not is her choice, but ensuring she doesn’t go hungry is his responsibility.
Once back, Victor Grant discussed the wedding with his mother. Initially planned for two weeks later, he decided to move it up to a week away for fear of unforeseen delays.
The sudden advancement of the wedding unsettled Heather Holt. Upon her persistent inquiry, Victor Grant finally disclosed the situation over in the U.K. to her.
Hearing that May Morgan planned a hunger strike, Heather Holt felt uneasy. She understood May Morgan’s stubborn nature, even worse than her son’s. Victor was already back — what if something happened over there?
Feeling increasingly uneasy, Heather Holt discussed with Justin Grant. They decided to visit May Morgan in France. Seeing how unhappy the couple was, Justin Grant kindly accompanied his wife to France.
Upon their arrival in France, it was already the third day of May Morgan’s hunger strike. She truly hadn’t taken a drop of water or a bite of food during that time. If not for the two nutrient drips, she might have been halfway to losing her life.
Seeing May Morgan so emaciated and unrecognizable, Heather Holt felt a pang of distress in her heart.
Despite her reservations about May Morgan’s background, Heather Holt was a kind-hearted woman. She had a deep empathy for May Morgan’s life story, so seeing her in such misery softened her heart immediately.
"This can’t continue. Old man, why don’t you talk to Victor, and I’ll talk to May Morgan? They have to move forward together, or there will be serious harm done."
It was Justin Grant’s first time seeing such a stubborn girl, and he felt a pang of reluctance in his heart as he nodded: ’Alright, I’ll talk to Victor. You talk to May Morgan. Why can’t things be discussed calmly?’
He shook his head and went downstairs to talk to Victor, leaving Heather Holt with the weak and feeble May Morgan in the room.
Heather Holt quickly brought some easily-digested pastries and softly persuaded May Morgan: ’Silly child, why are you doing this to yourself? Victor is a jerk. But fighting with a jerk is only harming yourself.’
Upon seeing Heather Holt, May Morgan burst into tears. The truth was that she often refrained from pushing things too far with Victor because his mother treated her so well.
"I’m not trying to argue with Victor. But I can’t let go of Vincent. I just want to go back and see him. I’m afraid he might die..." May Morgan suddenly embraced Heather Holt and began to sob uncontrollably.
Heather Holt gently patted May Morgan’s back, softly comforting her: ’I know you’re not an ungrateful child. He’s afraid of losing you, so he doesn’t dare let you meet your ex-husband. Can you understand his dilemma?’
"I know I registered with Victor Grant. Unless he does something unforgivable to me, I won’t ask for a divorce," May Morgan wiped away her tears and resolutely told Heather Holt: ’But Vincent is in this state because of me. The more I hated him before, the more guilty I feel now. I have no other intentions, just want to see him. Once I see he’s okay, I’ll return.’
Heather Holt raised her head to look at May Morgan, then seriously asked her: "Can you promise me that you’ll come back? What if you don’t? You know how much Victor loves you. For you, he’d kneel before us just to agree to the marriage. I can’t imagine what he would become without you. You should know how our family treats you, so please don’t do anything that would trouble us, okay?"
"I understand, Auntie. I promise you, once Vincent wakes up, I will come back soon and live well with Victor. No more conflicts."
May Morgan didn’t want to trouble Heather Holt, knowing how good she had been to her. Even just out of gratitude, she felt she had to return to Victor Grant eventually.
Though she found herself more and more disappointed with Victor Grant.
Having heard May Morgan’s oath, Heather Holt comforted her kindly: ’Just wait. Victor’s dad is also persuading him now. Let’s see what he says, but I believe Justin will sway him. Don’t worry.’
Seeing May Morgan’s better mood, Heather Holt quickly offered her some pastries to eat: ’Silly child, even if you want to go back, you’re too weak to travel. Eat something first and let’s talk about going back when you’re better, alright?’
Under Heather Holt’s persistent persuasion, May Morgan finally ate some soft pastries and drank some juice, temporarily regaining basic strength.
When she went downstairs with Heather Holt, they saw Victor Grant and Justin Grant coming out from the study. Victor kept his head down, seemed still unhappy but looked less stubborn.
Heather Holt exchanged a glance with her husband, quickly telling May Morgan: "May Morgan, Victor has agreed to take you back."
"Really?" May Morgan looked up in surprise at Victor Grant, but he irritably turned his face away.
"I can take you back and let you visit Vincent, but remember, you are my wife, we are married, and the wedding is imminent. I don’t want to argue, but I also hope you respect me and our family."
May Morgan felt a bit hurt by Victor Grant’s reprimand and quickly lowered her head, softly saying: ’I know. I wasn’t planning on leaving you, but Vincent is because of me...’
