Chapter 115: Chapter 115: Disguise

"A-Are you okay? I’ll go get a doctor!" Jacob Jennings was startled seeing Adam Owens like this and quickly let go of his arm, intending to run out to call a doctor.

But Jacob suddenly grabbed her hand tightly, whispering to her, "Young Master Adam is fine. First, help him onto the bed, and we’ll talk then."

Maxwell Vance looked at Jacob with surprise but realized he wasn’t joking and helped him move the semi-conscious Adam to the bed. She couldn’t help but look up and ask Jacob, "Are you sure? Adam looks so much in pain to me."

Jacob had also been startled by Adam’s actions earlier, but after a careful observation, he realized it was just a false alarm.

Adam had indeed taken the medicine given by Melanie, but this medicine wasn’t enough to be fatal, rather... it was an aphrodisiac!

That’s right, an aphrodisiac. Jacob had seen too many such scenarios. Adam’s flushed face and rapid breathing clearly indicated a bodily reaction.

However, even if he had been drugged with an aphrodisiac, it would still be his fault if outsiders found out, so the best solution was to keep it quiet.

"Miss, Young Master Adam might just be having a stomach ache. Stay with him for a while; I’ll go find a doctor to prescribe some medicine for him."

Jacob gave Maxwell a meaningful look, pulled her towards Adam, and then turned and left.

If an aphrodisiac is involved, a woman’s help is needed. Since Miss Maxwell is so fond of Adam and has never been able to have him, might as well take advantage of the opportunity, fulfilling both of their wishes.

As Jacob left the room, he intentionally glanced at Adam on the bed and Maxwell who was bending over to wipe his sweat; indeed, just as he closed the door, he saw Adam suddenly move and pull Maxwell into his arms.

After leaving Adam’s room, Jacob didn’t dare delay and quickly went to knock on the old master’s room. Now that he knew Melanie’s whereabouts, he had to figure out a way to catch her.

Vincent Vance was chatting idly with his grandfather in the study, while Logan Vance sat smiling silently beside him. The atmosphere was delicate; clearly each harbored secrets, yet they managed to interact politely and distantly for so long without confrontation.

It wasn’t until the old master shifted the topic suddenly to May Morgan’s pregnancy that Vincent’s deeply hidden smile began to show traces of other emotions.

"Who did Grandpa hear that from? If May is pregnant or not, would I, her husband, be unaware?" Vincent asked casually, glancing at Logan beside him, then warning Arthur Vance in a tone that allowed no argument: "However, even if she is pregnant, I won’t allow anyone to scheme against the child in her womb."

Arthur took a deep breath, trying to appear like the innocent good guy, and earnestly persuaded Vincent, "Vincent, your uncle has been bedridden for so many years, don’t you feel sorry for him suffering in bed all the time? Besides, I never said I wanted May’s child’s life; we just need a bit of his blood to save your uncle’s life. Are you really unwilling? For a woman, would you really end the familial bond between us, grandfather and grandson?"

"Grandpa doesn’t need to use family bonds to fool me. I’m grown now; you can’t manipulate me like you did when I was a child. I am pained and uncomfortable seeing my uncle as a vegetable. If money could help him stand again, I’d be willing, but this doesn’t include sacrificing innocent lives, especially not the life of the woman I love, I’m sorry, I can’t do it."

Arthur tried reasoning, but Vincent wouldn’t relent, which made him slam the table in frustration and yelled at Vincent: "Vincent, are you rebelling against me? After all I’ve done to raise you over the years, this is how you repay me?"

Vincent didn’t bother explaining; Arthur had gone insane, and there was no reasoning with him.

"Forget it. Since Grandpa won’t spare May, I have nothing left to say. From now on, each of us should rely on our own skills. Use any means you have; I, Vincent, will be ready to face them."

Vincent gave Arthur a cold glance and suddenly stood up from the chair and left with a wave of his sleeves.

Just as he pushed open the door, he saw Jacob rushing towards him and, seeing him leave his post without permission, leaving May alone, Vincent glared at Jacob, scolding in a low voice, "What are you doing? Where’s May?"

Jacob took a breath, leaned in, and quickly recounted what had just happened.

Upon hearing this, Vincent frowned and pulled Jacob away from the old master’s door. Once they were alone, he asked Jacob, "Did you see clearly? Was it really Melanie?"

Jacob nodded hurriedly, "No doubt, I saw very clearly. Melanie disguised as a servant, probably to drug you, that’s why she dressed like that."

Vincent stroked his chin, thought for a moment, and suddenly sneered: "Fine, if she likes to seduce me so much, we’ll let her have her wish."

After speaking, he whispered a few words to Jacob, to which Jacob, looking somewhat troubled, asked Vincent, "Isn’t this wrong? What if Madam finds out, how will you explain it to her?"

Vincent sighed hopelessly, hesitated slightly, but eventually ordered Jacob, "Go ahead."

Jacob gave Vincent a sympathetic glance, said nothing more, then turned and left.

Vincent left the old master’s room and did not go directly upstairs to May’s room. Instead, he pretended to be uncomfortable and instructed a passing servant, "Prepare a guest room for me. I’ll sleep there tonight."

The servant looked at him, puzzled, and concernedly asked, "Young Master, are you unwell? Should I help you upstairs to rest?"

But Vincent deliberately waved his hand and told her, "No need. I had a fight with the Madam and don’t want to go back. Help me to the west villa to rest."

Aside from the main villa, the Vance Residence had two additional villas; the east one was for the servants and bodyguards, and the west one was for guests to stay. Since no guests were visiting today, it was very quiet.

Moreover, these two villas were a distance from the main villa. Vincent chose the location so that when he interrogated later, no one would hear it.

The servant dared not ask further upon hearing this and supported Vincent to the west villa to rest.

"Does Young Master have any other orders?" the servant asked before leaving.
