Chapter 106: Chapter 106: Grandpa Seems to Be Sick

Logan Vance sighed helplessly at the situation, then earnestly said to Vincent Vance, "Brother, you know very well that if I want to stay in the CEO position, even if you suppress me, I can still resolve crises bit by bit with grandfather’s full support."

Vincent raised an eyebrow, glaring coldly at him, "What exactly are you trying to say?"

In fact, the moment Silas Vance suddenly announced stepping down from the CEO position, it indeed took Vincent by surprise. He wasn’t wrong; although he hadn’t fully grasped the domestic market yet, he was capable. If he persevered with the grandfather’s support, it probably wouldn’t even take a year or two for him to establish his footing in the Vance Clan.

After all, when grandfather entrusted the Vance Clan to Logan, although there was an element of impulsiveness, he certainly thought it over thoroughly and wouldn’t casually let go of such a large enterprise.

A servant happened to bring coffee over, Logan took a sip, and the coffee contained milk and sugar per Vincent’s request, causing Logan to smile lightly after taking a sip.

"It’s very good, brother, would you like to try?" Holding the coffee, he gestured to Vincent, saying, "I used to think sugar and milk were ruining the pure taste of coffee, but now it seems that if something is too pure, it loses the flavor of life, doesn’t it?"

Vincent watched his actions of sipping coffee indifferently and replied without any expression, "Only when you encounter someone you truly like, will life feel fulfilling. If not, forcing it just makes you feel ridiculous."

Logan put down the coffee, looked up at Vincent, and suddenly asked him, "So, brother, have you met a woman you truly like?"

Vincent leaned back slightly, crossed his arms, and looked at him with a voice firm as iron, "Yes, May is my true love."

He intentionally made his point so directly to imply to Logan not to make a move on his woman!

Men understand each other well, and Logan, that bastard, had come to harass his woman several times. Vincent was well aware of what he was planning. With words reaching this point, Logan felt that continuing to talk with Vincent might really incite a world war.

"Brother, don’t misunderstand, I give gifts to May purely to ease the tension between us, and if it weren’t for grandfather forcing me into the CEO position, I wouldn’t be competing with you for it."

Whether or not he intended to compete with him, Vincent knew better than anyone else. Over the years, Logan seemed indifferent to worldly struggles but secretly was often at odds with him. If it wasn’t for his iron-handed tactics keeping Logan down with no chance of overturning, who knew whose hands the Vance CEO position would be in?

"It’s best if you don’t have the intention, but even if you do, it’s alright. Rarely do we find a worthy opponent in life. I’m idle anyway; having someone to play with is rather enjoyable for me."

Vincent snorted coldly, full of disdain in his counter.

Logan shook his head, profoundly said to him, "Brother, what’s the point? Even if grandfather is wrong, he is still our elder. Besides, his health hasn’t been good lately. Opposing him like this might actually worsen his condition."

Logan’s seemingly casual remark caused Vincent to suddenly pause; grandfather not in good health? But didn’t he seem robust as ever?

"Are you saying grandfather is sick?" Vincent squinted, staring into Logan’s eyes as he asked.

Logan merely smiled ambiguously and avoided discussing Vincent’s question, "I’ve just heard the rumors, for the specifics, you might want to ask his personal doctor later. They could probably describe things more clearly than I can."

After speaking, Logan stood up from the sofa, planning to leave. As he prepared to go, he suddenly remembered something, turned back to Vincent, and said, "By the way, I just saw Melanie Morgan at the Vance Residence!"

Vincent furrowed his brow and was about to speak when Logan quickly turned and left the villa.

He watched Logan’s gradually disappearing figure, pondered for a moment, then picked up his phone to call Jacob Jennings.

Jacob Jennings had just returned from Crestwood, driving over a dozen hours. He was about to rest when Vincent’s call came like a death knell.

During the journey back from Crestwood, his nerves had been on edge. After all, those terrifying dead bodies and the bizarre events in Crestwood these past days left him unable to calm down.

Yet, Vincent seemed possessed, unable to let go of May even after talking so much last night. He persisted, showing no intention of giving up on May.

As a subordinate, he had done all he could. The rest was up to Vincent’s destiny.

"Young master, is there something you need?" Jacob’s voice over the phone was listless, clearly exhausted.

Vincent hesitated slightly before saying, "I just heard from Logan that Melanie is at the Vance Residence. The night is long and dreams are abundant; bring some people with me to get her out."

Hearing Vincent say he wanted to take people to bring Melanie out, Jacob reluctantly stopped him, "It’s pointless, Young Master Vincent. Not to mention whether Logan’s words are true, but even if they are, given how strained our relationship with grandfather is, do you think he’d let us take someone from his territory? Melanie is hiding in the Vance Residence because grandfather is obviously shielding her. As controlling as he is, he will never let us get our way."

Jacob’s words indeed reminded Vincent. Yes, even if Logan’s words weren’t quite credible, even if they were true, given his current relationship with grandfather, it would be incredibly difficult to take someone from his territory.

But without capturing Melanie, he couldn’t confirm the cure for May, making it impossible for him to decide whether to keep the child she carries.

"Even if your analysis is correct, letting Melanie stay at the Vance Residence makes it impossible to confirm about May."

"I understand, young master is concerned about Miss May, about the child in her belly, I know. But grandfather holds great power, and we must be cautious in our actions."

After listening to Jacob, Vincent fell into contemplation. After a long time, his eyes suddenly lit up, and he said, "I have a way. In a week, it’s grandfather’s birthday. We’ll spy on his intentions then."

To catch a tiger, one must enter the tiger’s den. Vincent knew Melanie hadn’t given up on him; as long as he appeared at the Vance Residence, that woman would surely find a way to get close to him.
