Young Master Vance Has An Enchanting Wife!-Chapter 104: Mason Morgan’s Unexpected Disappearance
Mason Morgan ran desperately, glancing back at the swarm of Poisonous Insects pursuing him. The strange sounds they made as they swiftly moved across the grass made his scalp tingle.
He knew these Poisonous Insects were after him, and they wouldn’t stop until he was dead.
But how could he give up so easily? He wouldn’t let himself be devoured by these terrifying Poisonous Insects like those two people earlier without a fight.
When Jacob Jennings and Director Lawson arrived at the crime scene, they only saw a corpse lying on the ground, horrifying like that of the special forces soldier, with no sight of Mason Morgan. The grass was peaceful, with not a single Poisonous Insect or even a mosquito in sight.
Director Lawson glanced at the tragically mangled corpse and couldn’t help but lament to Jacob, "This is already the second horrific attack, and it seems like they are targeting your subordinates."
Although the corpse was eaten away to bare bones, the intact clothes showed it was one of Jacob’s men sent to protect Mason Morgan, which is why Director Lawson said that.
Jacob looked at his brutally murdered subordinate, feeling something heavy and indescribable in his heart.
Director Lawson was right; both deaths involved his subordinates. More specifically, they were linked to May Morgan. Could it be said that these malicious attacks were actually triggered by May?
Jacob’s gaze lingered on the car hanging at the cliff’s edge, his emotions suddenly turning very complex.
"Director Lawson, Young Master Vance insists on protecting Mason Morgan. He hasn’t revealed an important secret yet. We’ve only seen my subordinate’s body, not Mason Morgan himself. He might still be alive, just escaped. I hope you can help look for his whereabouts."
Lives are at stake, so Director Lawson would certainly dispatch personnel to search the mountains. However, the Crestwood area is surrounded by mountains, and the incident site is far from Crestwood County, making it difficult to find someone who has gone missing in these mountains and whose fate is unknown.
"Don’t worry, Mr. Jennings. Since we haven’t seen Mason Morgan’s body, we will definitely search with all our might. However, with so many mountains here, it might take three to five days to find him."
Jacob glanced at the distant mountain ridges, which looked like black monsters, understanding Director Lawson’s difficulties. He politely replied, "It’s okay, as long as we can find him. I appreciate it, and if you need any help, just let me know."
After bidding farewell to Director Lawson, Jacob dared not linger in Crestwood and hurriedly drove away.
He had only been in Crestwood for a few days, and so many bizarre occurrences had happened in succession. Even with his skills, he didn’t dare stay longer in such a terrifying place.
On the way back, the more Jacob thought, the more smothered he felt inside. Unable to hold it in, he dialed Vincent Vance while driving.
Vincent had just fallen asleep holding May when Jacob called. He wouldn’t easily disturb himself at such a late hour unless it was an emergency.
Vincent furrowed his brows slightly as he looked at the incoming call. He quickly took his phone outside to answer, "What’s happening?"
Jacob hesitated for a moment before telling Vincent truthfully, "Mason Morgan ran into trouble at Crestwood’s border. I just returned from the scene, and we lost two of our men."
Upon hearing this, Vincent gasped before quickly asking, "Have you discovered the cause? What about Mason Morgan?"
"Our subordinates died tragically, just like the special forces soldier. As for Mason Morgan, his whereabouts are unknown. I’ve asked Director Lawson’s men to search the mountain, but he mentioned Crestwood’s terrain is complex, taking at least four to five days at best."
The Dragon Insect on May is something only Mason Morgan knew about, whether she was affected. Now Mason is suddenly attacked and missing—there must be some unknown connection.
"You come back first. I’ll send more people later to help search for Mason Morgan’s whereabouts," Vincent instructed quietly after a moment of thought.
Jacob responded softly with an "Okay," then maintained silence but didn’t hang up.
Realizing he had more to say, Vincent asked again, "Anything else?"
Jacob took a deep breath, finally voicing what he held back, "Young Master, the deaths of our three subordinates, are indeed connected to May Morgan..."
"What do you mean?" Vincent quickly grasped what Jacob was implying and sharply interrupted before he could finish, "May is innocent, she’s also a victim. Don’t talk nonsense."
Jacob bitterly chuckled, unwillingly saying in a low voice, "It’s only you who believe she’s innocent. Just think, if not for her, how would we be entangled in so many things?"
"Enough!" Jacob’s complaints made Vincent’s face turn unpleasant, his tone rarely stern, "Jacob, never speak ill of May again; I don’t want to hear a word about it, understand?"
"...Understood!" Though unwilling, Jacob nodded obediently.
Love, at times, is indeed scarier than any Poison. Outsiders can see clearly, yet Vincent stubbornly insists May is innocent?
Is she innocent? Perhaps. But isn’t she at the core of these issues? If not for her, how would Young Master drag himself into this mess? How would they lose so many subordinates?
Gazing at the oppressive black night sky ahead, Jacob couldn’t shake the feeling of impending doom. Perhaps this was merely a trial before the storm, with the real challenge yet to come.
Whether Young Master would withstand it when the time truly comes was uncertain.
Early the next morning, Vincent and May were interrupted at breakfast by an unexpected visitor at Zenith Villa.
Logan Vance entered Zenith Villa elegantly, holding a beautifully crafted box.
Despite his surprising decision to step down as CEO, Vincent hadn’t planned on restoring their cousinly relationship, for in the face of interests, familial ties were meaningless.
"Brother, I brought something for May that I promised her last time." Logan Vance gently placed the box on the coffee table with a smile, speaking to Vincent who was in the dining area.
Vincent glanced at the box with exquisite anime designs, and upon seeing the anime characters illustrated on it, he felt displeased and set his chopsticks down.
