X-ray Eyes Little Wild Doctor-Chapter 194 - 189: The Audacious Bank Robber
Chapter 194: Chapter 189: The Audacious Bank Robber
Ye Tian shrugged his shoulders, bared his teeth in a smile, "Little girl, now you know how awesome your big brother is?" He said, scratching her delicate nose with his finger.
Just at that moment, sirens suddenly blared from outside the archery range, and the sound of gunshots was incessant. Then, a black SUV crashed through the wooden guardrails, charging toward Xie Huadong and his group.
Five or six police cars followed closely behind, with the last car equipped with a loudspeaker. A calm male voice said, "The criminals ahead, listen up. You’ve reached the end of the road. I advise you to lay down your arms and surrender, to avoid futile resistance and possibly receive lenient treatment!"
At that instant, three hands reached out of the SUV’s window, behind which the faint outlines of fierce faces could be seen. They were holding dark iron objects, which Ye Tian recognized were certainly handguns.
The police warning had no deterrent effect on the utterly ruthless criminals; if anything, they became more desperate.
The criminals inside the SUV immediately opened fire, the bangs echoing in all directions. Bullets struck the windshield of a police car, instantly killing the officer at the wheel.
These criminals were extremely brazen, firing two more shots. One hit the loudspeaker, silencing it on the spot, while the second was aimed to shatter the glass and kill the police officer inside. However, it hit the car’s hood instead, sending sparks flying.
The police weren’t pushovers either; they returned fire instantly, their bullets peppering the rear of the SUV. The rear bumper turned into a beehive, and a 6.2 mm bullet pierced the back window, hitting a robber’s left shoulder. As blood spattered, a large stack of banknotes flew out from the criminals’ vehicle. Red bills fluttered in the air like snowflakes, a spectacular sight.
This scene unfolded so suddenly that it scared Xie Huadong and the others, who one by one knelt down, hid underneath their chairs, and dared not come out.
In the midst of panic, no one considered why these criminals appeared here. Everyone was frantically seeking a hiding place, scrambling for cover.
It was quite coincidental that the robbers’ SUV, instead of going elsewhere, charged directly toward where these people were hiding.
"Not good, they want to take hostages, you better hide quickly."
Ye Tian immediately grabbed Bai Lan’s hand, but she was wearing high-heeled shoes and could not run fast. Without hesitating, Ye Tian hoisted Bai Lan onto his back and even grabbed her bow and arrows on the way.
At this moment, gunfire erupted again, with bullets whistling through the air and rampaging across the top of the archery range.
A Grand Cherokee drove into the range, smashing through the guardrails and roaring toward them. Ye Tian brought Bai Lan to safety and then saw Wang Ke’er inside the Grand Cherokee.
With the siren wailing, Wang Ke’er swerved the steering wheel sharply, and the Jeep crashed directly into the black SUV. The SUV flipped over immediately, its body rolling on the ground before landing on all four wheels again.
The impact to the Grand Cherokee was severe. The engine died instantly, the chassis severely deformed. Wang Ke’er’s forehead hit the steering wheel, leaving her dazed and dizzy.
As an excellent female detective, Wang Ke’er remained composed in the face of danger, instinctively opening the car door. Feeling a sharp pain in her right leg, she tumbled to the ground.
She hurried to find cover, but the archery range was empty, offering nowhere to hide. Thus, she had no choice but to crawl toward the back of the car. Her leg was injured, and crawling was difficult.
The wounded criminal in the SUV wasn’t seriously hurt, but was already enraged. The dark muzzle of the gun poked out of the window and aimed straight at Wang Ke’er’s chest.
"Damn!" Wang Ke’er exclaimed in alarm.
Behind her, the siren wailed, still some distance away; her colleagues simply couldn’t reach her in time. In fact, she knew that even if her colleagues were right beside her, it would be too late.
At that moment, Wang Ke’er was prepared for sacrifice, yet she couldn’t help feeling a hint of reluctance. She was only 21 years old, a young life about to be lost under a criminal’s gun.
"Goodbye, Ye Tian." Wang Ke’er slowly closed her eyes.
Bang! The criminal’s gunshot rang out on cue.
Whoosh! A streak of lightning shot out and hit the flying bullet.
Wang Ke’er opened her eyes, vaguely sensing that something was amiss. Looking around, she was still alive, surprisingly unhit.
Whoosh! Another sharp sound followed, and a streak of lightning shot parallel to the ground. The armed criminal felt a sharp pain in his wrist, and the black gun fell to the ground.
"Ah!" Wang Ke’er cried out as she saw an alloy arrow piercing through the criminal’s palm.
Now she realized that the previous burst of light wasn’t lightning at all, but an arrow shot by someone. The speed of the arrow was so fast that it was mistaken for lightning.
Wang Ke’er quickly took cover behind the car and looked in the direction the arrow came from, only to see a tall figure standing atop a slope.
The young man was wearing the familiar jeans she knew. His eyes were as wild and unrestrained as ever. He stood on a tall cement platform, holding a cool-looking professional bow. He glanced at the criminals’ SUV and immediately moved to a new advantageous position.
"It was him, it was him who saved me!" Wang Ke’er’s heart warmed with surprise and joy, her right leg seemingly feeling less pain.
The approaching siren grew louder, and her detective colleagues soon arrived. The instructor asked Wang Ke’er if she was hurt, to which she immediately shook her head, saying, "I’m fine, I can still take part in the pursuit. We must catch these criminals!"
With no time to bandage her wounds, Wang Ke’er, limping but with a determined look in her eyes and the police badge shining on her head, charged forward with her gun.
Ye Tian flashed back to where the pavilion was, grabbed a new bag of arrows, and this time, finally having ample ammunition, he was ready to go all out.
Ignoring Xie Huadong and the others hiding nearby, Ye Tian clenched a cigarette in his mouth, a cold expression on his face. He stood up, feet apart, drew his bow, notched an arrow, and released—all in one smooth movement.
The razor-sharp arrow whooshed out, turning into a streak of purple lightning, and struck right in the front tire of the SUV.
The rubber tire instantly deflated, and the wildly speeding SUV shook violently. The thug driving didn’t have time to brake before the vehicle slammed into the dirt mound on the shooting range, knocking over a dozen targets before finally coming to a halt.
Immediately, two police cars surrounded it, and the detectives leaped out. They hadn’t even aimed at the mountain-crashing thugs when the other side had already opened fire.
The crackling sound of gunfire, as loud as New Year’s firecrackers, made people’s ears ache, and the bullets riddled the two police cars, which quickly became riddled with holes.
"I am the head of the Criminal Police Division, Wang Ke’er. The criminals’ firepower is too fierce; we need backup, I repeat, I am the head of the Criminal Police Division, Wang Ke’er, we need backup," Wang Ke’er said, taking cover behind a police car with a walkie-talkie.
In fact, there weren’t just three or four criminals; there were five or six of them. However, the number of detectives present was limited, merely more police cars were present. Including the officer who had died in the line of duty and the injured Wang Ke’er, there were only four or five people.
Moreover, the criminals were exceptionally well-equipped, and their bullets seemed endless, whereas the police had a very limited supply of ammunition. The stronger and the weaker were clear at a glance.
Ye Tian also saw that these thugs were well organized, shooting while retreating and also taking a staff member from the shooting range hostage. Using the hostage as a human shield, they slowly retreated toward the back, looking every bit like trained special forces.
"They must be mercenaries from the dark world; otherwise, they wouldn’t do such life-threatening jobs," Ye Tian concluded immediately.
He moved like an antelope on high ground, with a few agile leaps he was away from Xie Huadong and his group, and in the blink of an eye, he was at the thugs’ left flank, crouched, pulled his bow, and fired an arrow.
Whoosh! The sharp arrow flew across the long expanse of space, piercing straight through the gun-wielding thug on the left. The arrow entered from the back of the thug’s head and exited through his mouth, continuing with undiminished force to strike another thug’s buttocks.
"Third Brother!" The thug saw his brother get hit and immediately roared.
"Ah!" The thug who was hit in the buttocks screamed, painfully pulled out the arrow stuck in his flesh, and showed it to their leader: "Big Brother, look!"
"It’s a master archer! Brothers, hurry up and retreat!" The leader, presumably a seasoned man, recognized the archer’s skill and opted for retreat.
On the other side, having witnessed Ye Tian’s archery prowess, Xie Huadong and Zhang Ye simultaneously gaped, a sense of dread rising within them.
"So this Ye Tian is a master archer with the skill to shoot through Yang at a hundred steps!" Xie Huadong’s face turned pale.
"Luckily, he didn’t agree to the contest back then, otherwise the one kneeling and barking like a dog would have been..." The word "you" hadn’t left his mouth when Zhang Ye saw the iron blue on Chief Xie’s face and swallowed the rest of his sentence.
"If I’d known Ye Tian was so formidable, I’d never have antagonized him," Fang Dali also felt a surge of retrospect fear.
"Enough! Shut your mouths!" Xie Huadong frowned and shouted fiercely.
At that moment, Ye Tian couldn’t hear their conversation. He had already circled to the thugs’ rear, pulled out another arrow, and fired again.
The arrow whizzed out, and one of the thugs fell in the distance, shot in the head with no chance of survival.
The detectives far away were shocked.
This arrow had flown at least 500 meters, its trajectory no longer a straight line but a proper parabolic curve.
Keep in mind, the longest effective range of a police revolver was no more than 200 meters. Only a military sniper rifle could achieve a precise kill at over 500 meters.
"Is he still shooting arrows, or is this just like a sniper rifle!" an officer exclaimed with his mouth agape.
"An archery god, a definite archery god!"
"If someone like him went to the Olympics, breaking the world archery record would be a breeze."
These were all exclamations from the detectives’ hearts.
On the other side, the criminals were also becoming panicked.
Faced with Ye Tian, the archer who seemed to appear and disappear like a specter, they couldn’t help but become disordered; they never knew when he might suddenly appear and shoot an arrow at their heads.
The lead thug issued a desperate command: "At all costs, bring those hostages over! Without hostages as shields, we are bound to be done for sooner or later!"
"I’m all in!" A determined thug gritted his teeth.
"If you lose your head, it’ll be nothing but a scar the size of a bowl. F*ck being scared, I’m going all out!" A resolute gun-wielding thug made up his mind.
