World's Last Hope-Chapter 106: Through the Mist
"Faster!" he cursed at himself as he moved upward the spider’s leg with all his might.
The Masters who were behind him saw what he was trying to do, and as such, one who had a miracle capable of creating ice attacks used his power to freeze the spider’s leg to the ground, while the others began to climb as well.
Olivia was about to launch a third bolt, but her attention was pulled away as a second colossal spider appeared out of the mist. This one had its sights fixed solely on her.
"Grandmaster Olivia!" Seeing the second spider, the pink-haired girl screamed.
"Take the one that you have begun to climb down! I will deal with the second!" Olivia commanded as she shot at the newly appeared spider. A second later, she dismissed her bow-like weapon and summoned her black sword as she dashed toward her target.
"Let’s see what you’ve got!" she spat.
Meanwhile, Eric had climbed about a half of the spider’s leg and was soon going to reach its head.
But his luck ran out quickly because when Olivia stopped shooting at the spider, it seemed that the monster was able to recover quickly from the shock as its gaze fell on Eric, who was climbing it.
Before anybody could react, the spider opened its massive jaws, brought them next to Eric, and swallowed him in a second.
Seeing the inside of its mouth, Eric’s eyes narrowed in horror as he brought his sword down, piercing the inside of the monster’s mouth and locking himself into place.
"Shit!" he cursed as he felt his armor starting to melt. It seemed that the monster’s saliva was acidic too.
It was dark in the creature’s mouth, and Eric held his breath, waiting for the monster to open its mouth again.
A second later, it did. It seemed that the Masters on the outside had made some damage, leading the monster to scream in pain.
Not missing the moment, Eric moved, using his hands to climb out of the creature’s mouth and began to climb toward its eye.
The spider wasn’t a humanoid creature, so it didn’t have arms with which it could throw Eric off.
He reached the eye that had been injured by Olivia’s earlier attack.
"This has to lead to the brain," he muttered.
Considering that the creature’s blood was acidic, it was a stupid thought to entertain, but it wasn’t like there was much of a choice anyway.
So he took a deep breath and dived into the wound.
He was going to stab the brain of the spider itself.

Its legs had been cut off at numerous places, and as a result, it fell to the ground.
Not missing the chance, Olivia dashed forward toward the creature’s head and attacked it.
The next moment, the spider was dead .
Olivia took ragged breaths as she shifted her gaze to the other colossal spider, worried.
Even if Eric was strong and helped by four other Masters, they didn’t have much of a chance, maybe they would be able to hold off the creature until she arrived.
That was what she thought until her eyes widened in awe.
The spider was lying dead on the ground.
Observing the scene, Olivia noticed four of the Masters staying close to each other.
For a second, Olivia felt a chill run down her spine,
Before she realized it, she was already next to them. "Where is Eric?" she asked.
"He... he entered the creature," the pink-haired girl spoke.
Olivia didn’t even have time to question her as she ran toward the corpse of the creature.
"Eric? Are you alive?" she shouted.
’He has entered it?! This thing’s blood is acid! He will be melted to death!’
After a moment of panic, a part of the creature’s head moved as a sword pierced the monster’s skin, and Eric came out.
Though it was hard to say it was him, as most of his skin had been melted off.
He glanced at Olivia as he spoke, "Mind healing me?"
A moment later, he felt her hand on his shoulder, and his injuries were healed.
"What were you thinking?!" Olivia shouted.
Eric, after taking a moment to compose himself, answered with a smile.
"What? I killed it, didn’t I? We both know that there was a real possibility that some of the Masters were going to die if the monster wasn’t killed fast enough."
"But that doesn’t mean you have to be so reckless!" Olivia complained.
He put a hand on her shoulder as he reassured her, "I am not reckless, Olivia... Don’t you remember my trait? I am brave!"
Their conversation was over, and they continued their march. The mist was getting even thicker here.
Eric was about to complain until he noticed something.
There were cocoons in front of them. And not just a few, there were a few thousand at least. The only reason that he didn’t count more was because the mist obscured their view.
He used the gem he always carried with himself to look at the map. They were roughly in the middle. Somewhere here, they were supposed to meet with Aria and Varek.
Olivia sighed as she summoned her sword and began to destroy the cocoons one by one. That was until she noticed Eric’s grim expression.
"What is it?" she asked.
"We are at the center... and there are so many cocoons, but no colossal spiders."
She raised an eyebrow. "Yes, but we did kill two colossal spiders on the way here, didn’t we?"
"But I thought there would be more, especially considering how many cocoons are in the area..."
A moment later, his eyes narrowed in realization. "Or they were here, and now aren’t anymore?"
He shifted his gaze to Olivia. "What if Aria and her team got here before us and now are battling dozens of colossal spiders alone?"
She was about to counter but didn’t as she realized Eric’s words could be true.
Eric gulped audibly. He suddenly got a very bad feeling.
