World's Best Protagonist [BL]-Chapter 84: Claude’s New Minder
Chapter 84: Claude’s New Minder
Allen brushed shoulders with me when we walked out of the vortex. He was talking to me inside the vortex, but as soon as we landed on Earth, he ignored me again.
I sighed exasperatedly. It’s been going on for two days in a row now, ever since I told him I’d stay in the captain’s Sanctum.
I just watched him walk away after that. He didn’t even ask for counseling and just disappeared.
"Did something happen between you and Allen?"
I briefly glanced at Terrius, then shook my head once. I couldn’t tell him the reason. Allen was upset that I chose Claude? No, probably not the case. That’s what I wanted to believe, but...signs are telling me otherwise.
Why did Allen come to like me? Just because I saved his life? Isn’t that a shallow—
"You won’t believe what happened to Etienne yesterday, guys!" Noir came gossiping about Etienne’s day ago. "Someone proposed marriage to him just because he picked up their handkerchief!"
Isn’t he too excited to tell us about someone else’s love life? I’m glad Noir is back to his usual playful and annoying attitude, though.
"Isn’t it fascinating? Love can spring right before you when you least expect it."
I gaped at Terrius. After Noir’s weird behavior, is he next? Terrius adjusted his glasses, but he wore none, so he looked stupid. Must be a muscle reflex. Right. He did say he used to teach before.
Noir’s giggles caught me off guard. I turned to him and he was staring right through me. "Is that how love works? Someone who just picks up your things for you and bam! You’re in love already. What more if the person risks their life saving you?"
I gritted my teeth. He knew nothing, but he somehow hammered the right head.
"I bet that person did not fall in love with Etienne because he picked up their handkerchief. It’s because of his face. His face, Noir. Got it?"
I walked away after that.
"What’s wrong with him?"
Terrius did not answer Noir and just followed me. We headed back to the NSA to report. After that, the rest of the team went and received counseling. I could have done it for them, but they decided to use other Minders when they were on Earth.
Only when inside the vortex will they allow me to stabilize their dark energy.
"I said I’ll do it for you, Claude!"
My steps halted when I saw at the end of the hallway, Claude was being chased by a woman. She looked familiar. Noir caught up with me and watched the scene too.
"Ooh~, guess who’s here, guys~." Noir whistled.
Etienne appeared on my left, his eyes narrowing at the two figures quarreling at the end of the hallway.
"The captain’s stalker, Sabrina."
My gaze moved up from Etienne’s face to Terrius. They all looked refreshed, which must have meant the counseling went well.
"She’s a famous influencer. Is it alright for the captain to treat her like that?" I asked, a bit concerned.
So far, Commander Lan hasn’t found fault with our team, which is why we continued raiding vortices without complaints and intervention from other teams. But if this became a problem, the captain’s mood would only turn sour more than it already was.
All those non-stop raids yielded no result, and it was already getting on his nerves. Still, he showed no hesitation in accepting missions.
Etienne shrugged his shoulders. "Captain doesn’t care about that."
It seems Etienne and I thought differently. He must be thinking about the captain’s social reputation.
I’m worried about the team’s standing. How many vortices have we raided already? Not one of them is their world. At this rate, we might as well snatch the other teams’ missions to succeed.
The four of us were about to turn away and return to the quarter when the captain shouted.
"Jade!"
Shit. Don’t call my name that affectionately! The madwoman—I mean, his stalker would only bully me more!
I shuddered when hard, solid hands grabbed my shoulders from the back. The next thing I knew, my vision spun.
Claude whirled me around, so now I was facing him and the angry Miss Stalker.
"Why me?" I murmured helplessly.
Noir chuckled. Terrius sighed and waved his hand, then he walked away. Etienne remained proud and looked at Sabrina with disdain.
Woah. Wait a minute. Did these two have an ugly past too?
Sabrina observed me, perhaps trying to remember where she saw me. It was more than six weeks ago, so I hoped she did not recognize me.
But I underestimated the memory of a certified stalker.
Her eyes slowly bulged and reddened out of fury. Then, with her long fake nails, she pointed at me.
"It’s you again!" She barked. She rushed toward me with anger and contempt.
However, before her nails clawed in my face, her arm was caught by Claude. Instead of getting hurt from the tight grip on her arm, Sabrina even blushed and was overjoyed by the touch.
I shook my head in pity. She saw it, and her aggressive attitude came back.
"Enough! I told you to get lost!" Claude finally shouted. His face was darkened, and his eyes were blazing with hatred and disgust. On top of that, I could see the slight tremors in the hand that gripped Sabrina.
My eyes changed. I quickly tugged the back of his collar and pulled him away from the stalker.
Sabrina glared at me with burning rage. I smirked and interrupted her.
"You’re no longer needed. Captain Vanderheinz has a new Minder already."
Everyone’s gaze fell on me. I swallowed the lump in my throat and faced Sabrina.
"She’s waiting inside, so if you’ll excuse us."
"No! You can’t! I’m the only one who can help him! So fucking get out of my sight, peasants!"
Oh, boy. You just called a royal prince a peasant. Needless to say, Noir was the one who jumped in and dealt with Sabrina.
