Chapter 275: Ben Vs Ashking

Ben appeared in front of the Ash King like a black-red flash.

The Ash King reacted on instinct and swung his flaming spear.

CLANG!!!

Ben raised his forearm.

Dark aether hardened like armor, and the golden flame wrapped around it like a second skin.

The spear point scraped across Ben’s arm and threw sparks into the air.

Ben did not step back.

He grabbed the spear shaft with one hand.

Steam hissed where his skin met flame.

The Ash King’s eyes widened.

Ben’s grip tightened.

CRACK.

The spear shaft bent.

Ben pulled hard and yanked the Ash King forward.

Then he slammed his knee into the Ash King’s chest.

BOOM!!!

The Ash King flew backward and smashed into a broken pillar.

The plaza shook again.

Elvira stared from the side, breathing hard.

Draeven’s mouth was slightly open, but no sound came out.

They could both feel it.

Ben’s pressure was not like before.

It was absolute, like the world itself was standing behind him.

The Ash King pushed himself out of the rubble.

Golden flame burst from his body and formed a new weapon in his hand.

This time it was a long blade made of flame and law.

"You think you can take my throne?" the Ash King roared.

Ben stepped forward.

"I do not want your throne," Ben said.

"I want you dead."

He spread his wings.

The aurora glow thickened, and the gold lines inside them lit up.

Ben moved.

He was faster than before.

BAM!

Ben’s fist hit the Ash King’s jaw.

The Ash King’s head snapped to the side.

Ben followed with an elbow.

BAM!!!

The Ash King’s armor cracked.

He swung his flame blade in a wide arc.

A golden wave rushed outward.

Elvira raised a hand.

A circle flashed.

The edge of the wave bent slightly, just enough to not hit them.

The rest smashed into the plaza and cut a long trench into the stone.

Ben did not dodge.

His body twisted, ribs shifting, shoulder plates forming from dark aether like living armor.

The golden wave hit him.

Ben’s body split open for a breath.

Then it stitched back together.

The Ash King’s eyes turned red.

"You monster," he hissed.

Ben smiled.

He raised the Empyrean Pickaxe.

Dark aether and Golden flame flowed into it.

Ben swung.

BOOOOM!!!

The pickaxe hit the Ash King’s flame blade.

The impact made the air pop.

A shock ring spread out and shattered the remaining altar debris into dust.

The Ash King slid back, boots carving lines in the ground.

Ben chased him.

He did not let him breathe.

BAM!

BAM!

BAM!!!

Every hit forced the Ash King to block.

Every block made his flame flicker more.

On the sky of the battlefield, Eve watched.

She rested her chin on her hand like she was watching a show.

"What an interesting man," she said softly.

"So he is my last hurdle for the Primordial Flame."

Baal’s eyes turned cold.

"Do not even think about it."

Eve’s smile did not change.

"I am thinking about it right now."

Baal’s chains rattled it begin to crack.

"Don’t think I come here without any preparation."

Eve glanced at him.

Her silver eyes narrowed for a moment.

Then she looked back at Ben again.

Back in the plaza, the Ash King’s breathing turned rough.

He could feel his army still fighting outside.

The Ash King’s face twisted.

He turned and shot toward the nearest flame priests.

The priests froze.

"Your Majesty?" one of them said.

The Ash King did not answer.

He grabbed the priest by the throat.

Golden flame poured into the priest’s body.

The priest screamed once.

Then his body dried up like ash.

The Ash King’s aura surged.

Elvira’s eyes widened.

"What pathetic King," she said.

Draeven’s fists clenched.

"That bastard," he spat.

Ben’s gaze sharpened, he move quickly coming after the Ashking.

"Stop running," Ben said.

The Ash King laughed.

"Don’t worry I will come after you soon." he snarled.

He grabbed another priest.

"Noooo!!!!"

SWOSH!!!!

His boy bursted into golden flame.

The Ash King’s armor thickened.

His flame blade grew wider.

His eyes looked more like a beast now.

Ben reached him and swung the pickaxe.

The Ash King blocked.

CLANG!!!

The ground under them cracked.

Ben followed with a kick.

BAM!!!

The Ash King slid back again, but this time he did not fall.

He used the force to change direction.

He dashed into the street, deeper into the capital.

Ben pursued.

He crashed through broken walls and burning rubble, moving like a storm.

Every time the Ash King tried to grab another priest, Ben forced him to block.

Every time the Ash King tried to gain distance, Ben closed it.

The Ash King’s desperation grew.

He started pulling ashborn soldiers too.

Anyone closeby he will absorb them.

None were spared.

His aura would spike for a breath.

Then crack again.

It was like pouring water into a broken cup.

Elvira and Draeven followed behind, but they could not keep up.

They only saw flashes.

Then another explosion.

BOOOOM!!!

A whole street collapsed.

Ben landed on a broken roof, wings spread wide.

The Ash King stood across from him, holding a soldier in one hand.

The soldier was still alive.

His eyes were full of panic.

The Ash King stared at Ben through the flames.

"This should be enough," he said.

Ben’s voice was cold.

"Come."

The Ash King lifted his free hand.

Golden flame gathered into a sharp point.

The air around it distorted.

Elvira felt it and went pale.

"Ben!" she shouted.

Draeven’s body tensed.

Ben did not move back, He raised his pickaxe.

His wings flared.

Then the whole city shook again.

The dead boy of the nephirid begin to float toward the ashking.

As they come close, their body than turned into particle of dark light.

"Fufufufu.... Hahaha....

Don’t think I’m jsut staying silent all this time.

Since your throw me away, I will took this power."

The ash king body exploded with dark energy.

At the same time the energy gathered on his hand shoot toward Ben.
