World Version Updates-Chapter 551 - 335: The Gaze of the Intelligent God
In City No.1, within the top-level conference hall of the Universal Giant Corporation symbolizing absolute power, the atmosphere was so heavy it seemed it could condense into water.
The design of this hall deliberately mimicked the grandeur and majesty of the Ancient Roman Colosseum.
In the center of the hall, on a clearly elevated circular platform, sat seven figures in a row, emanating a natural authority without anger.
They were the board of Universal Giant Corporation, the nominal highest power core controlling not just the corporation, but the fate of the entire Cyberpunk version.
Below the platform and surrounding it were countless virtual projections emitting a faint blue light, numbering in the hundreds.
The figures in these projections ranged from humans with normal appearances, to bio-mechanical beings, and even brains immersed in nutrient tanks. Despite their varied appearances, they all exuded strong auras of authority.
They were the regional managers of Universal Giant Corporation dispersed across various cyber cities, as well as battlefield commanders directing joint forces with City No.14.
It could be said that this seemingly cold and empty hall represented the ultimate power hub for both Universal Giant Corporation and the entire Cyberpunk version.
At this moment, the chairman hosting this emergency meeting, an old man with a dignified face and sharp, eagle-like eyes, was glaring angrily at the flickering virtual projections before him.
His voice, hoarse with anger, boomed like a thunderstorm throughout the spacious hall:
"Three days ago, I issued the strictest order on behalf of the board!
Instructed you to spare no effort to thoroughly investigate which damned fools are secretly spreading those blasphemous tales that desecrate the almighty God!"
"Three entire days have passed, and I even broke precedent to allow you to use some of the God Network's computing power to assist the investigation, yet what results have you given me?"
As he spoke, the chairman abruptly raised his arm, pointing at the clearest virtual projection at the forefront, his voice laden with undeniable authority as he angrily demanded:
"Regional Manager of City No.5, you report first, what have you uncovered?"
The projection of the Regional Manager of City No.5, a middle-aged man appearing shrewd and decisive, yet at this moment his face was filled with helplessness and frustration.
Since all actual power within Universal Giant Corporation gradually transferred to the Intelligent God, these once illustrious board members and regional powerholders essentially became mere mouthpieces and executors of the Intelligent God's will, their past prestige long gone.
Thus, despite facing the furious chairman, the Regional Manager of City No.5 did not truly harbor much fear.
However, he was well aware that the depth of this incident involved the unfathomable Intelligent God.
The board's fury at this moment was largely to comply with and reflect the Intelligent God's will.
At such a sensitive moment, regardless of the level of discontent or helplessness he felt, he could only brace himself and cautiously explain:
"Honorable Chairman, in fact, as early as a week ago, I had already keenly detected the emergence of those so-called cult traits and immediately ordered my subordinates to conduct a comprehensive secret investigation."
"But Chairman, you can hardly imagine the cunning of those spreading rumors.
We practically turned City No.5 upside down and even resorted to using valuable God Network computing power for data screening and tracking, but in the end, we only managed to catch a few misguided ordinary citizens.
As for the real culprits hiding behind the scenes and spreading these evil statements, we couldn't trace any valuable leads."
The chairman's face grew even darker upon hearing this, and he turned his gaze to another, the Regional Manager of City No.3.
The other, seemingly anticipating being called upon, responded promptly:
"Chairman, the situation on my side is quite similar to City No.5.
In my district, many citizens even boldly claimed they personally witnessed the so-called Buddha reincarnated and accepted some so-called teachings from them.
Yet, no matter how we repeatedly scrutinized the surveillance records of the incident location or searched the soul memory fragments of those present, we could never find any real trace of that supposed Buddha. It was as if it were all a mass hallucination."
As soon as these words were spoken, it seemed to open the floodgates, and other regional powerholders chimed in one after another, filling the hall with waves of complaints and lamentations:
"Yes, indeed! Those blasphemous cult statements seemed to appear out of nowhere, and then spread among the population in a terrifyingly viral mode.
The speed and scope of it are simply unimaginable!"
"For spreading and consolidating the almighty God narrative, we have painstakingly worked for a full two years, investing countless human and material resources, and only now barely begun to see any negligible progress.
Up to this point, only about one-fifth of all citizens truly worship the God narrative from their hearts and are willing to offer their souls to Heaven after death."
