Work Prophet-Chapter 893 - 58: Ark
After hugging Li Yu, Robbin led the group into the white building behind them.
As soon as he entered, Li Yu was attracted by the murals on both sides, depicting myths and legends from various cultures.
Some Li Yu had heard of, like Kuafu Chasing the Sun, Nezha Conquering the Sea, the Crucifixion of Jesus, as well as the stories of the Golden Fleece, the Sphinx, and others.
The deities on the murals looked remarkably lifelike.
"Research means standing on the shoulders of those before us, hoping to draw nourishment from their wisdom from the day we established this place,"
Robbin paused, "Moreover, these murals have another function apart from inspiring us."
"What function?"
"They are also part of the tight security measures here," said the Indian woman, Sara, standing next to Robbin. "If someone with ill intentions comes here, the murals will launch an attack."
Hephaestus walked over holding a cup at this moment.
"The green tea here ran out yesterday, and I haven't restocked yet. Is black tea okay?"
"Thank you." Li Yu took the steaming cup from his hand, took a sip, and felt much better.
It might have been because of the dimensional travel he recently engaged in; the dizziness brought by altitude sickness came and went quickly.
From exiting the giant tree to entering the white building, Li Yu had almost fully adapted.
The group passed by the murals without any incident.
Besides the murals, Li Yu also noticed numerous cameras in the hall and guards patrolling.
Apparently, the Third Age didn't put all eggs in one basket; normal security measures were also arranged outside of theological methods to ensure the building's safety. 𝒻𝘳ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝒷𝘯ℴ𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝑐ℴ𝑚
Robbin continued introducing to Li Yu, "We are now in the reception hall. Besides this, the first floor also has a cafeteria, hospital, convenience store, and employee lounge and activity center."
He greeted the administrative staff at the front desk and then used the badge hanging around his neck to access the elevator.
"The second floor houses the administrative office and laboratories 3-6, mainly conducting routine experiments."
"Routine experiments?"
Robbin nodded and entered the elevator, "Like the glove you're wearing, designed by Hephaestus, called the 'Force Glove,' most of the development work was completed here."
Li Yu and the others followed Robbin into the elevator, and Robbin pressed the button marked with the number 3 at the top.
"The third floor is for core laboratories 1-2, personally overseen by me, focusing on the Savior Project's challenges."
Li Yu glanced at the elevator control panel, "What about the basement level one, what's there?"
"Some failed experimental subjects, along with relics we found outside from predecessors," Robbin didn't hide, "These items are usually dangerous but have research value, so they weren't destroyed but temporarily stored."
At this moment, a female voice sounded in the elevator.
"Welcome back, Dr. Robbin, researchers Sara and Hephaestus. I see you have guests today, five board members, and...a stranger."
"That's quite rare in the company. I guess he's the Savior you always talk about, right?"
"That's correct, Samantha," Robbin replied.
"Wow, it's an honor to meet you." Though the voice said so, there wasn't much emotional change in the tone.
"Who is this?" Li Yu asked.
"Samantha, the company's semi-intelligent AI," Hephaestus said, "We primarily use it for complex calculations and assisting analysis, but it seems to prefer chatting with people at other electronic terminals."
Samantha said, "My computational power is immense, and chatting only uses a tiny part of it. Besides, it helps me understand humans better to serve them more effectively."
"I wish I could find such a good excuse when I'm slacking," Hephaestus muttered.
The elevator soon reached the third floor.
As the door opened, there was a corridor outside, and at first glance, Li Yu almost thought he was back in the Third Age office building in city B because the decor style was nearly identical.
However, there were only two doors in the corridor, located at both ends, with the numbers 1 and 2 above them. Besides, there were two rows of Terracotta Warriors along the sides.
Robbin ignored the Terracotta Warriors, walked past them directly to door number 1, and unlocked the somewhat heavy lock with a fingerprint.
"Ahead is my laboratory."
Robbin opened the door, revealing a room about half the size of a football field.
It was filled with various strange instruments, like a centrifuge resembling pilot training equipment, a forging table, and two person-high Mobius Strips with mercury-like substances flowing on them.
The most eye-catching feature, however, was a golden Light Pillar in the center. Li Yu followed Robbin to the Light Pillar, and a human face suddenly appeared above it.
The face struggled to break free from the Light Pillar but was firmly bound by an unknown force, unable to escape. As soon as it left the Light Pillar less than half a meter, it was drawn back in.
"This is the Soul Cage," Robbin explained, "Our experiments require using souls, and it's too troublesome to find them every time, so we collect them all at once and store them for gradual use."
"Where do these souls come from?" Li Yu asked.
"Mainly from executed criminals around the world, plus some homeless without identities or anyone to care for them. You acquired the 'Rebirth Bell' thanks to them."
"But the 'Rebirth Bell' alone is certainly not enough to take so many people to another dimension; we need a stronger vessel."
"—The Ark."
"The legendary Ark? You've even constructed Noah's Ark?" Li Yu raised an eyebrow, "Where is it?"
"Actually, you've already seen it," Robbin winked at Li Yu.
Li Yu looked around but saw nothing that could be described as a ship, and the legendary Ark, over 130 meters long and more than 70 meters wide, with three decks, couldn't possibly fit inside the laboratory.
Thinking of this, Li Yu's expression suddenly changed, "Wait a minute, not counting the basement, this building has three floors, and its length and width are close to the legendary Ark."
"That's right, this building is the Ark itself," Sara candidly admitted, "It will carry us to the new world."
