Chapter 128: 003: Abundant Harvest

At dawn the next morning, the morning bell rang.

Lynch woke up from his bed.

He looked around: the soft wooden bed, the carved wardrobe, the polished wooden floor, and the ceiling.

An owl was hooting from the tree outside, and dim light poured in through the cross-shaped window.

Peaceful and serene, yet infused with a hint of mystery.

"Sleeping in the Tower is truly the best!" Lynch praised as he got out of bed.

He got dressed, washed up, and headed to the kitchen to prepare breakfast—a plate of honey-white bread paired with a fried egg and a cup of hot milk. These had been kept in the cabinet, which was equipped with a special space technique, ensuring they remained unspoiled despite being left for months.

Sitting at the dining table with his food, Lynch savored his meal while opening his system panel to check his current status.

There hadn’t been much change in his attribute values; he still retained the spiritual power of a Mid-level Apprentice and the three-dimensional attributes of a Mid-level Knight. After all, a few short months wouldn’t result in any significant advancements.

"Time to get back to cultivation starting today..." Though he’d only been away for a few months, to Lynch, it felt unusually long, as if more drawn out than the years he had spent in the Tower. Such is the peculiar sensation of time perception.

While his attribute growth was modest, the knowledge he gained—especially in magic—had grown considerably.

[Earth Sinking Spell lv1: 1286/1500.]

[Thunder Strike Spell Max.]

Several spells had reached lv2, with Elemental Voidification, Multi-element Shield, and Thunder Strike Spell attaining Max level.

It’s worth noting that these were bona fide Mid-level Apprentice-level spells. Typically, wizards focus on strength first, with spells following later; after all, the corresponding power is necessary before one can begin learning advanced spells.

From the time Lynch advanced to Mid-level Apprentice until now, only a few months had passed. For most apprentices, achieving entry-level proficiency with one or two Mid-level Apprentice-level spells during this period is already considered exceptional. For Lynch to master many—and specialize in several—is outright extraordinary.

However, compared to what came next, Lynch deemed progress in spell mastery to be negligible. That is—

Knowledge.

For Lynch, the greatest gain from this trip was undoubtedly in the realm of knowledge, particularly necromancy—subjects rarely accessible within the Tower. These gave his prior level of understanding a tremendous boost.

After breakfast, Lynch headed to his laboratory. The haul from his trip was extensive, and there was much to sort out.

Within the spacious laboratory stood Frankenstein, dazed in a corner.

He had suffered damage during the battle. Avery’s subordinates eventually boxed him up and shipped him back. Lynch had spent a good portion of the previous night repairing him. Though some visible injuries remained, they posed no major issues.

"Come here."

Lynch beckoned to Frankenstein, then proceeded to empty all the space pockets he had collected during his journey, categorizing their contents meticulously.

The haul could be divided into three parts: Ghost Island, the Undead Castle, and finally the Forest of the Dead.

Most items from Ghost Island originated from the Blood Origin Cult and parts of the Shadow Swamp. The former specialized in bloodline-focused spells, yielding knowledge and corresponding materials related to bloodline magic.

Lynch took particular interest in several bloodline spells—like the one wherein three Mid-level Apprentices fused themselves with the Ausen Giant Python.

This spell, named [Blood Beast], was a bloodline sacrificial ritual enabling fusion with cultivated Transcendent beings to enhance their power. It was a rare combination of bloodline refinement and Transcendent cultivation.

Lynch had no intention of fusing himself with his magic pet, but the bloodline refinement knowledge intrigued him, as it might prove useful for modifying Transcendent life forms in the future.

The Shadow Swamp had little worth mentioning. The few apprentices encountered there were unimpressive; most of their knowledge was already within Lynch’s grasp. The only remotely valuable finds were a few thousand Magic Stones unearthed from space pockets.

Next was William Heim’s Undead Castle.

Judging by the Necromancy Army rallied during the Forest of the Dead showdown, the spoils from here were remarkably abundant!

Though William Heim was only a Mid-level Apprentice, his wealth was astounding. A few massive chests of knowledge were excavated from his castle, most of which Lynch hadn’t encountered before. Beyond that, numerous precious undead materials, Magic Stones, and resources were collected, making this by far the most lucrative part of the journey.

And that’s not even counting the ten thousand Magic Stones Avery had promised him.

The only conclusion to draw:

The true mark of a pureblood from a Wizard Family.

Lastly, there was the Forest of the Dead.

As the victor of this battle—the sole triumphant survivor—Lynch meticulously scavenged the battlefield post-fight, from knights to apprentices, from Rolf to Barton.

Anything of value was claimed, including several well-preserved corpses brought back as future magical materials.

"A bountiful harvest, truly a bountiful harvest!"

It wasn’t until he systematically inventoried everything that Lynch found himself unable to suppress the joy on his face.

Let’s put it this way: the Magic Stones alone totaled over twenty thousand.

Other equipment, materials, and knowledge were too numerous to count.

From Lynch’s preliminary estimate, if everything were converted into Magic Stones—excluding knowledge—it would likely approach one million Magic Stones.

A million Magic Stones!!!

Having been in the Wizard World for several years, Lynch had worked diligently. Even so, he had only managed to accumulate a few thousand Magic Stones. One million Magic Stones was an astronomical figure he never dared imagine before.

But now, after a mere stroll outside, he returned laden with wealth.

"Is this the legendary luck outweighing effort?"

Suddenly, Lynch felt that his years of hard work and sacrifice might have been somewhat undervalued.

Quickly, however, he shook his head. freewebnøvel.com

"No."

"It is precisely effort before luck that brings good fortune."

Luck is undoubtedly significant, but it was Lynch himself who enabled this stroke of luck. Without years of relentless dedication to improving himself, how could he be fortunate enough to claim a million Magic Stones?

If not for the strength accumulated through hard work, this messy ordeal wouldn’t have brought good fortune—instead, it might have spelled disaster...

Effort enabled him to grasp luck, and luck, in turn, validated his efforts over the years.

They complemented each other perfectly.

Returning his wandering thoughts to the present, Lynch directed Frankenstein to organize the various materials, categorizing them as needed: boxed items, shelved items, and valuable materials kept available. The rest were stored in space pockets for later sale.

After labeling all the materials appropriately, the sorting task was finally complete.

Next, Lynch approached the experiment table to begin today’s research.

"Shhhh!"

He picked up a space pocket and emptied its contents—a heap of mangled body parts, bloodied and indistinguishable. It was barely recognizable as a human corpse, with one notably grotesque mouth—

Barton.

This High-level Apprentice was no ordinary one. His body, inside and out, had undergone nearly complete cellular transformation, infused with First-tier and Second-tier magical life forms.

For any apprentice working in biological transformation, such a body was an invaluable treasure!

Thus, after the battle ended, Lynch had promptly collected Barton’s shattered corpse. Such a fine specimen demanded thorough study back at the lab.

"Step one, let’s put him back together..."
