Chapter 89 - Dragon Eggs

Dragonstone

POV of Domeric

Lord Stark's abrupt arrival in Dreadfort had forced Domeric to change his plans.

Unlike what the people in his small council had been told, he had not in fact gone to Braavos for some deal but he had instead gone to Dragonstone in search of any dragon eggs that might still survive in some hidden underground vault or at the crack of the Volcano where the Dragons once used to live.

The search had been long and had him for many days and a good deal of magical exhaustion before he finally stumbled upon a hidden cave some distance from Dragonstone castle which led him to an underground vault that held a few hundred thousand gold dragons, books, treasures and three dragon eggs.

He didn't care about the gold coins as much as he did for the dragon eggs, though still he took everything in the cave and put it inside his magical suitcase.

Adding to the dragon eggs that he'd previously stolen from the rich magisters of the various cities in Essos, he now had a grand total of 7 large Dragon eggs in his possession.

7 dragon eggs that his magical sense told him were not as dead as people thought them to be due to their petrified nature.

He just needed to find the right ritual to perform and then... well... he would have dragons.

But for now, he needed to return to Dreadfort and deal with Lord Stark as well as the lords in his nearby lands who had been whining about losing their 'precious' smallfolk to him.

Well, despite her dislike for the man, his aunt had told him that their situation was indeed a delicate one, and without the calming presence of Lord Stark, it was likely that a civil war would erupt if the smallfolk continued to flow to his lands.

This was why he had held a meeting with his small council via a magical mirror and they had decided to hold a tourney to call all the lords from the North.

This way, he wouldn't have to run from castle to castle in order to make deals with his neighbors to soothe any ruffled feathers and would be able to deal with them all at once, so he did not need to waste any more time on them than absolutely necessary.

With that said, he took his suitcase, and his suitcase vanished, turned another tattoo on his body, and faded slowly after that.

Till now, every magical object he got from the Symbol of Deathly Hallow was a soul-bound item. And just like his other soul-bond items, his magical suitcase also could turn a tattoo on his body. It was really convenient for him to bring his magical items anywhere he went without attracting attention.

The internal structure of his magical suitcase wasn't a small-world-type structure as he wished. But he knew that if it was a small-world-type magical suitcase, it wouldn't be just a level 3 reward.

Still, his magical suitcase's internal structure, albeit being an enclosed area, was as big as a soccer stadium from his past life. For now, it was enough for needs. Probably he couldn't raise a dragon until it was fully grown inside his suitcase, but it could still spend its first period of growth there.

It might be an enclosed structure and not a small world but still, it was a magical structure. Air ventilation, illumination, magic density, and many more details that were needed to sustain life were all covered by magic.

These were the main reasons why magical suitcases were much more difficult to make than other spatial items. Someone could easily expand the internal structure of a tent with a few charms, but it wasn't easy to do that in an independent enclosed internal structure that was stable and could sustain life.

And because of that, he still couldn't make a magical suitcase for himself and had to rely on his reward from the symbol. To make a new magical suitcase or improve the current one he needed to find magical materials that would help him to increase the stability of spatial structures and some supporting materials.

But the problem was that this world had far fewer magical ingredients than the old world. However, he still had hope. There were a lot of places in this world he still didn't visit and with time he would explore those lands and find new materials.

He already had some materials from his past quest to make a magical suitcase and when he found the other necessary ones he would improve his current magical suitcase.

With that thought, he gave one last look at the island where he had spent his past few weeks, and then with a password, a tug, and a twist, he was at his port town.

He told his people he was going to the Braavos so he should go back to Dreadfort from his port town so as not to arouse suspicion.

He looked forward to the day when he could openly tell everyone that he was a wizard. Then he wouldn't need to use these kinds of little misdirections.

But it wasn't the right time yet. He still needed more time to lay his foundation and increase magic density in his lands. If he revealed his identity as a wizard, a lot of people would use it to war against him.

He knew that some people disliked him, but he also knew that many more secretly coveted his wealth. Right now, they couldn't do anything about it except sit in their castles in jealousy.

But if he told them he was a wizard, then everything would change. They would have a valid reason to wage war against him, to seize his wealth and lands.

So, he couldn't do that at the moment. For now, he had to bide his time for the right moment. And when the right moment came, no one would dare stand against him.
