Witty Wife, Better Life-Chapter 789 - 779 Powerless
Chapter 789: Chapter 779 Powerless
Li Xianghe had a good plan, but Li Hongjun just happened to be one of the few who remembered everything clearly.
Of course, he remembered on the day he went home to settle accounts with Li Hongqi, there were only a few people in the house, and although Li Xianghe was at home, she was unaware of the incident.
But that wasn’t important, "Since you heard it from me, you should also know that your second sister-in-law was framed and reported by Shen Yingxue, which led to the suffering she endured. Now, knowing full well that woman has ill intentions, you still brought her into the military district. What were you thinking?"
Li Xianghe clucked her tongue, not expecting her little cunning ploy to be caught out by her second brother.
"Second brother, don’t wrong me. I just brought someone into the military district. I didn’t have any ulterior motives. You can’t just accuse me unjustly because of someone else’s instigation," Li Xianghe declared, refusing to admit to anything; no one could do anything about it.
Li Hongjun looked deeply at his sister and said, "Fine, since you put it that way, let’s leave the matter here. If you have nothing else, you can go back. I just got back and need to rest."
Li Xianghe smiled, hadn’t expected to get off so easily with this issue.
But Sun Chengbin, standing next to her, felt like crying. This wasn’t an apology visit at all; it felt more like they were here to provoke.
"Second brother, no matter what, this was all because Xianghe caused Pangpang to suffer an undeserved calamity. She’s a mess. Please don’t stoop to her level. We’re here to apologize to you and your wife," Sun Chengbin had no problems swallowing his pride and stood up to bow deeply to Li Hongjun and his wife.
Ring, ring, ring...
Just then, the sudden ringing of the phone interrupted Sun Chengbin’s act.
Shen Yunfang ignored them, slightly shifting her body to answer the phone next to her.
"Hello, you’ve reached Shen Yunfang."
"Sister-in-law, it’s Zhang Chunwang. I hope I’m not disturbing you," Zhang Chunwang’s voice came through the receiver.
"No problem, go ahead and speak."
Li Hongjun saw his wife on the phone mouthing "mm-hmm" and "ah-hah," with no intention to hang up. He directly issued a dismissal to Li Xianghe and her husband.
"If you’re done here, then that’s it; I won’t walk you out." Li Hongjun stood up to open the door for them. "Oh, and since you don’t get along with your sister-in-law, maybe you should visit less frequently. If there’s anything, just have Chengbin notify me."
Li Xianghe, upon hearing her second brother speak so bluntly, became upset and was about to retort, but Sun Chengbin stopped her.
"Second brother, let’s calm down. We were in the wrong, and it wasn’t a good time when we came today. We’ll leave for now, and when there’s a chance in the future, I’ll come over and apologize to your wife again." After saying this, Sun Chengbin pulled Li Xianghe away with him.
Just like that, Sun Chengbin and Li Xianghe made a trip and didn’t resolve anything; instead, they managed to offend someone.
"Didn’t I tell you not to talk at your second brother’s place, not to say a word, just listen to me, but you insist on offending everyone until you’re happy?" Sun Chengbin stepped out of the apartment building, saw no one around, and couldn’t help but erupt.
Li Xianghe, not happy with being silenced, retorted, "I didn’t really say much."
"Didn’t say much? What else did you want to say? It’s all because you don’t think before you speak that you’ve managed to offend your second brother and sister-in-law thoroughly. Now what do you expect?" Sun Chengbin fumed, his fists clenched so tightly that his veins bulged, "I’m warning you one last time, from now on, you sit tight at home, take good care of the children, and if you keep causing trouble for me everywhere, you might as well pack up and go back to your hometown."
Having said that, he didn’t wait for Li Xianghe and stormed off home in a rage.
Li Hongjun closed the door and put down the phone, then asked, "Everything alright?"
"It’s fine, it was Chunwang. I haven’t been to the farm for several days, and it’s almost time to plant the corn. He was asking if I am still planning to intercrop Lingzhi this year, and if so, I’d need to go to the school to get the seeds." This intercropping primarily relies on the production of Lingzhi mycelium, which for the time being, the farm can’t produce on its own, or rather, Shen Yunfang can’t produce on her own, so she must go to the school and get it from relevant professors.
"Is it easy to manage?" Li Hongjun knew that his wife had cultivated ten acres of Lingzhi last year and earned a significant income from it. So if Lingzhi was to be grown this year, he would support it. Yet the allure of wealth can stir the heart, and with the success of the first year witnessed by many at the Agricultural University, it wouldn’t be as easy to get the Lingzhi seedlings like last year.
"There shouldn’t be a problem, I have a good relationship with one of the older professors." Shen Yunfang had already made a conscious effort to get close to those professors last autumn. Indeed, she managed to build a connection with one of them, "I plan to talk to the school first. If the school still supports me and provides the spawn bags, then there’s nothing to discuss. But if someone at the school makes things difficult for me, I’ll find someone privately to do it. There’s always more solutions than problems." Shen Yunfang has an indomitable spirit when it comes to business, which is why in her previous life, she was able to go from an ordinary girl to a wealthy entrepreneur through mushroom cultivation.
"Alright, as long as you know what you’re doing," Li Hongjun nodded in support.
As they lay in bed that night, the couple spoke of Li Xianghe and her husband’s troubles, and naturally, the conversation turned to Niuniu.
Shen Yunfang sighed, "I do feel sorry for the child. Autism now seems just like not talking, ignoring people, but as the child grows older, other behaviors will emerge..."
"What kind of behaviors?" Li Hongjun was also unfamiliar with the condition.
"It’s hard to say, but generally, there might be hyperactivity, lack of concentration, temper tantrums, aggression towards others, or self-harm. Also, children with autism usually have delayed intelligence, although there are those with normal intelligence, but they can’t communicate or learn, so even if they are intelligent, it’s of no use." Shen Yunfang shared everything she knew about the symptoms of autism.
She also knew that a small percentage of children with autism could have extraordinary intelligence. In her last life, she had heard of many autistic children becoming painters, musicians, and so on. However, with current conditions and a mother like Li Xianghe, even if Niuniu had such talents, there would be no room for her to develop them. Simply put, the child’s potential was wasted.
"Ah, sometimes, even with money, there are things we can’t solve," said Shen Yunfang, sounding a bit downcast.
Although she harshly stated that she wouldn’t care about Li Xianghe taking Niuniu for treatment, she knew that if it really came down to a lack of money hindering the child’s medical care, she would ultimately extend her hand to help. She could ignore someone like Li Xianghe, but she couldn’t bear to watch a child suffer.
Li Hongjun listened, his brows deeply furrowed, but he was truly helpless regarding his niece’s condition. In the end, all he could do was hold his wife tight and say, "Don’t think about it anymore, we don’t have a better solution. We’ll just help out with Niuniu more in the future."
Shen Yunfang sighed, knowing that when Li Hongjun mentioned helping Niuniu, he meant occasionally making something tasty for the child. Other than that, there wasn’t much they could do. Alas, that was all they could do for now.
