With My System, I Can Even Tame Gods-Chapter 1039: Traitor (3)
It wasn't all of the elders that had been in this experiment room during this time.
They had split up to search the base, so only a few of the elders had been with Lin Fan in the experiment room. The other elders had been walking around the base looking for other things of note.
And they had been able to find a few things during this time.
The first place that they led Lin Fan was actually a storage room.
But this was the place that Lin Fan was actually interested in.
That was because he could sense that the radiation energy that he felt before was coming from this storage room. That was also the reason why the elders had brought him here in the first place.
It was because they sensed this strange energy that they didn't recognize that they thought to call him.
They thought that this strange energy meant that something was special about this place.
But it turned out that they were wrong in the end.
That was because it didn't take Lin Fan long to find what was releasing that radiation energy.
He took his time searching this storage room since he didn't know if there was anything in this room that was like the creatures that he encountered before. But since there was that radiation energy being released, it wasn't hard for him to pinpoint the location that it was coming from.
What he found was some crates that were placed there.
These crates were still sealed, so it didn't seem like there was anything wrong with them. Well, other than the fact that they were leaking radiation energy.
So before opening them up, Lin Fan made sure to check the surrounding area as well just in case there was anything there.
Once he made sure that there wasn't anything around him, that was when he finally opened up the crate.
Inside of the crate were a few boxes, but these boxes weren't the same as the crate that was around it. These boxes had been destroyed by something and it was clear what had destroyed it since they were in the crate as well.
There were rats that were inside of this crate.
Not a single one of these rats was moving.
All of them were lying there on the ground, as if there wasn't a single trace of life in them.
When he looked closely, Lin Fan could also see that there was this strange swelling inside of these rats. It seemed like they had been affected by something, which caused these strange growths to appear on their bodies.
There was no need to guess to know that it must be the effects of the radiation energy on them.
Then when he used his Appraisal Eyes on the things leaking out of the boxes, he found that it was what he had expected from these things.
This was some kind of radioactive fuel that was used to power machines.
It wasn't a kind of fuel that he had ever heard of before, but it was something that his Appraisal Eyes apparently knew about. At the same time, it also said that this fuel came from where he had already guessed that it came from.
That meant that he had to have another talk with Kennedy.
After all, if he wasn't lying about this being related to the technologically advanced continent, that meant that there was another story behind this place.
As for the radioactive material, Lin Fan just waved his hand and created a ball of Clear Water around the crate. The moment that ball of Clear Water appeared, the radioactive energy that had been coming from the crate reduced.
It didn't completely make the radiation energy disappear since there was still some lingering in the air, but it was no longer dangerous for people to be around.
In the end, what happened was an accident.
It seemed that this base was completely abandoned with how there was a layer of dust on everything that was here. That meant that the rats must have gotten their way into the radioactive material by accident.
The radiation energy that leaked to the surface was also an accident.
If it wasn't for that, Lin Fan never would have found this place to begin with.
The only question now was why they had abandoned this place.
When he came out, the first thing that Lin Fan did was ask Kennedy in a serious voice, "Are you saying that you really don't know anything about this place?"
Kennedy had remained outside because he couldn't take the radiation energy that was coming from inside. Even with his battle suit, it was hard for him to resist that radiation energy.
As such, he didn't know what had happened inside and was confused why Lin Fan was asking him this question.
However, it didn't seem like Lin Fan would let this matter end unless he gave a proper answer.
After looking at Lin Fan with a strange look for a bit, as if he was trying to figure out what Lin Fan was thinking, Kennedy slowly shook his head and said, "I really don't know anything about this place."
Lin Fan didn't say anything as he continued looking at Kennedy with the same serious look in his eyes.
However, when he saw that Kennedy didn't turn away or back down, he eventually said, "Then you do know that this place is connected to the place you're from. Did you find any clues that would tell you what connection that is?"
Kennedy knitted his brows as if he was thinking about it, but eventually he gave a shake of his head.
This was the truth of the matter.
He had tried to figure out what this place was many times now, but there wasn't a single explanation that he could come up with that would explain what this place was. This place really seemed like it didn't follow any rules that he could think of.
So he couldn't make a connection at all.
"Alright, let's take a look at the rest of this place." Lin Fan said when he saw the look on Kennedy's face.
He knew that there was nothing to gain from continuing to push him, especially since it seemed like he really was stumped by all of this. Perhaps they would be able to find something from the rest of this place that would give them a clue.
"Sect master, we have something we need you to see."
This was the third group of elders that had split up to search the base, but Lin Fan didn't really expect anything from them. The rest of the elders hadn't found anything interesting, so he didn't think that they would as well.
But for the third time in a row, he was wrong.
What they found was much more important than anything that the others found.
This was a place that didn't seem that important, but the papers that were placed all around this place were very important. That was because this place was clearly some kind of office for this lab.
Since this was an office, these papers should give us the information that they wanted.
And it turned out that was indeed the case.
"This name…" Kennedy suddenly exclaimed, which made everyone turn their attention to him.
"What is it? Did you find something?" Lin Fan immediately came over to take a look at the piece of paper that Kennedy was holding, but it wasn't as if he could make anything out of it.
This was a report on some kind of experiment, but it didn't really mean anything to Lin Fan since he didn't understand the terms that were on it. He could understand a few of the simpler terms, but once they became more technical…
It actually made his eyes hurt to look at this report.
But it didn't seem like the case with Kennedy.
Seeing that Kennedy didn't say anything, Lin Fan snapped his fingers in front of Kennedy's face to snap him out of his daze.
When he saw this, he finally came out of his daze and said, "I recognize this name."
Lin Fan already knew this or else he wouldn't have said what he said earlier.
What he wanted to know was where he recognized this name from.
Kennedy of course realized this as well, but it didn't seem like he was ready to talk yet.
He started going through the different pieces of paper that were here, as if he was looking for something.
Eventually, the look on his face was as if he had come to some kind of conclusion.
But he still didn't say anything as he continued looking through the pieces of paper. It was as if he was trying to make sure that whatever he had figured out was correct.
Finally, it seemed like he had no choice but to accept what he had figured out.
Lin Fan had been silently waiting for Kennedy to speak.
After a moment of hesitation, Kennedy took a deep breath and said, "This name is the name of a person that I once knew, but I never thought that I would see this name again. After all, the person that this name belonged to was supposed to have been executed a long time ago."

"Executed?" Lin Fan repeated in a confused voice.
This certainly wasn't what he had been expecting to hear, but it seemed like Kennedy was very certain of this.
"That's right, this person was executed. It was discovered that he was a traitor, which was why he was executed."
