Witch, Fireball and the Evil God of Steam-Chapter 864 - 169: The New God Has Arrived
The fallen Golden Fleet, the Imperial Capital consumed by flames, corpses strewn everywhere in sight, the sky shattered, and finally, the residents of the Silver Radiance Empire were able to witness the truth hidden beyond the heavens.
Everyone paused momentarily due to this celestial phenomenon, and when that silvery-white "sun" opened its eyes, dancing digits and characters poured down like a torrential rain, dyeing the entire sky a ghostly green.
The smoke on the clouds had yet to dissipate, and the floating dust was pierced by these glowing digits, taking on a bizarre unnatural hue. The first to come into contact with the "raindrops" were the shattered airships, broken by slashes. As soon as the cold metal decks were touched by these dancing characters, they seemed to be endowed with some kind of malevolent life. The digits burrowed into the gaps of the steel like worms, where they went, the metal squirmed and reshaped like flesh, emitting a teeth-gritting metallic friction sound. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚
The damaged hulls were forcibly twisted and integrated into some incomprehensible alien structure, and the magical weapons upon them returned to their most original and pure form, transforming into grotesque organs bristling with sensors and spikes.
When the "raindrops" touched the cold corpses on the ground, those digits, upon contacting pale or blood-stained skin, seemed to find the most fertile soil, burrowing in madly, torsos twitching, limbs twisting and stretching in violation of their physiological structure, bones forcibly encased in a glowing alloy, emitting a crisp "click" sound.
Soon after, these prisoners and Imperial soldiers who died in battle crawled out from Hell once more. They no longer needed weapons, as their rewritten metal shells became weapons more powerful than swords or muskets.
Their enemies were no longer the rebels, but all the living.
The silver light swept over the unprepared Imperial Army array, instantly slicing the soldiers wielding shields in half at the waist. Severed limbs spun in the air, accompanied by clouds of blood mist. Before long, those mutilated limbs became the material for the parasitic digits and characters, which reassembled irregularly after hitting the ground.
Solan witnessed the arrival of this scene.
When that white "sun" first descended upon this world, the first generation hero also witnessed these half-human, half-metal creations. But compared to the metallic creations in the first generation's memory, those assembled before his eyes seemed to have evolved once again, becoming not only more destructive but also more brutal.
Creations beyond comprehension and indiscriminate methods of destruction threw the Imperial Army into complete chaos.
They attempted a counterattack, but swords and muskets could not penetrate the defenses of these metallic creations. Only the Holy Mage Ilya's magic barely managed to shatter a few creations advancing towards them, but those scattered "parts" were quickly absorbed by other creations.
This not only failed to halt their advance but instead created several towering "giants" several meters tall on the battlefield.
"Retreat, retreat!"
Someone, unbeknownst to whom, replaced Cedric in giving the order, and the terrified Imperial soldiers discarded their armor and fled towards the city.
The approaching footsteps and the screams of their comrades urged them to quicken their pace. No one dared to look back and lock eyes with those killing machines even once.
They had no idea what those things were.
But the despair did not stop there. When some people fled into nearby buildings in panic, the houses used as cover suddenly opened their eyes and grew limbs. They rose from the ground like giants, causing several tremors of varying scales in the city center.
"It's useless..."
Solan muttered to himself.
His gaze passed over the fleeing Imperial Army and the metal creations rampaging on the battlefield, looking towards the Golden Fleet once again assembled, shrouded like black clouds in the sky. Its structure had now completely changed, with dozens of airships bonded together by digits to become an airborne fortress.
The adventure of the first generation hero and Scarlet proved one thing—the metalized creations could never be completely destroyed.
No matter the attack, no matter the damage, even if reduced to dust, they would reassemble.
The only hope for victory was to defeat the "Commander" of these creations.
Though there was no evidence, Solan was certain that the "Commander" was currently within that airborne fortress.
It was enraged, having lost all reason, which is why it engaged in indiscriminate slaughter on the battlefield.
This immediately reminded Solan of Henry VI, who had ordered indiscriminate bombardment to all crew members before the Golden Fleet was annihilated by slashes.
These twisted creations were still faithfully executing Henry VI's orders at this moment.
"Miss Red Hair."
He quickly joined with the Other Shore, knowing full well that if the "Commander" couldn't be stopped, it wouldn't take long for the entire Imperial Capital to become a dead city. They would kill every living creature and then reuse their bodies as parts.
In the era when the "sun" first fell, it wasn't a city that was destroyed but a Kingdom occupying a third of the continent's territory.
"We must find a way to get onto the airship!"
"Hold tight."
The Other Shore pressed Solan's shoulder, her body crouching slightly, then leaped high. The aftershock from the leap tore the ground and flung the approaching creations surrounding them away. With a resounding boom that echoed through the clouds, a burst of golden light crashed open a breach in the airborne fortress.
