Witch, Fireball and the Evil God of Steam-Chapter 859 - 67: Heart of Silver_2
On the first day of his adventure, he sincerely wished that everyone could find their own happy ending.
Too foolish.
Did someone actually think that after attacking the Imperial Royal Family, they could meet a good end?
The Eldest Prince's shoulders were propped up by prisoners, advancing as people dragged him along.
They left the fifth level, heading towards the prison's entrance.
The journey was utterly silent; when they reached the third level, they hadn't encountered even a single prison guard.
A tense atmosphere spread among the crowd.
Everyone felt the sudden drop in temperature. When they reached level 2, they found thin ice forming on the prison bars, with puddles of melted ice on the ground. Still, they didn't encounter any prison guards.
But everyone knew they were getting closer to the exit.
The prisoners never imagined they would see the day they could leave here. As they stepped onto the ice-paved road leading out of the prison, they were nearly in tears from excitement.
Then, they finally saw the sight outside the prison.
The evening wind brought with it the smell of burning, while lined-up lanterns illuminated the road before the prison.
Blocking their path was a massive crowd, clad in silver-white armor, holding up long shields, with countless muskets aimed at them, and among them stood a figure that filled them with dread.
His short red hair fluttered in the wind, and he leaned on a great sword, blocking the only way out of the prison.
That was the commander of the Imperial Army, Cedric Thorn.
In the night sky behind him were countless floating sky castles, with all magical weapons locked onto the prison. Perhaps the only reason they hadn't bombarded the prison was that the Prince was still inside.
Beyond the Imperial Army were the residents of the Imperial Capital, awakened from their sleep, following the crowd to the prison. When they saw the Eldest Prince held by the prisoners, their expressions changed.
These heinous criminals dared to lay hands on the Royal Family!
But soon, the civilians noticed a familiar figure at the forefront of the crowd.
"The Hero."
"It's the Hero!"
"Why is he mingling with the prisoners?!"
The crowd buzzed with discussion, as it was beyond everyone's understanding.
The Eldest Prince also saw Cedric Thorn and the heavily encircling Imperial Army. Finally, a slight victorious smile appeared on his face.
"Prince, it's time for you to fulfill your promise."
Solan's voice reached his ear once more.
"Yes, I did make a promise..."
But his gaze didn't linger on Solan; instead, he looked at Balmon, still unconscious on the cart.
What a pity, he didn't wish for this man, with blood tainted by sin, to miss what was about to happen.
Nothing is more despairing than falling from Heaven to Hell. Balmon's father had once experienced this moment. As a mortal, he was exceptional, the first to touch upon the secret of the "spark," and after that, true despair descended.
The Eldest Prince looked at Cedric Thorn.
Indeed, his promise was to let Balmon witness all those trying to help him being skinned alive before his final breath, and that promise still stood.
"Cedric—"
Kill them.
The words that had risen to his throat were silenced by a sudden sharp pain, coming from his other knee. The Eldest Prince incredulously turned his face, and without the prisoners' support, he lost his balance and fell onto his knees before everyone in the most humiliating way.
Facing the Imperial Army and the residents of the Imperial Capital behind them, who had come to watch.
In an instant, all discussions ceased, as if time had frozen at that moment.
Even Meiliya cast a shocked glance towards Solan. She wouldn't have spared the Eldest Prince, yet she hadn't expected Solan to be the first to take action.
Without any hesitation or reservation, he shattered the Eldest Prince's knee with his shield.
She met Solan's eyes.
Meiliya saw a sense of relief in them.
"Wouldn't it be too easy for him if he just died in a prison corner?"
She watched Solan raise his long sword high, a sword that had once been a testament to battling the Demon King, a symbol of justice in the eyes of the Imperial People.
"Your Highness, no, Edward Henry—"
In this moment where time seemed frozen, under the watchful eyes of the Imperial Army and all the civilians, that raised long sword cleanly and decisively fell towards the Eldest Prince's neck.
"Atone for your actions!"
Solan understood the consequences of his actions, but he no longer intended to concern himself with what lay ahead.
He listened carefully to Meiliya's "Divisions of Combat Power." What kind of waves could a mid-third-tier and a mid-fourth-tier Transcendent stir in such an empire?
To the royal family and nobles of the Empire, the Hero and the Demon King were merely part of a political game at the card table.
But now, they had overturned the table.
Piercing screams filled his ears.
Solan saw the Eldest Prince's face twisted in fear.
It seemed that, when facing death, the Prince of the Empire was no wiser than those mortals he so despised.
