Chapter 37: <Chapter 36>

Felicien and the rest of Kail’s posse laughed at Silje and Jamal.

“Asian monkeys together at last! That’s hilarious.”

When Felicien mocked them, the rest of the group laughed loudly. Silje remained calm, but when she saw Kail’s group unexpectedly, she became furious.

What now?

They must’ve felt Silje’s anger, because Felicien and the others suddenly became quiet. Jamal seemed to be panicking because he was becoming visibly pale.

Felicien was far from done. He continued to snarl, “I can’t watch this ugly scene. Are we at a circus or something? Haha, when did that bitch switch to this Asian idiot?”

Although he didn’t mention Kail’s name, it was obvious what he meant. Felicien was implying that Silje was dating Kail, but now she was dating Jamal. It was an insult.

Silje murmured loudly, “Whatever.”

“What did you say, you bitch?”

Felicien suddenly grabbed her hair and Silje calmly contemplated what she should do.

Should she kick between his legs?

If she was alone, that is exactly what she would’ve done. But she wasn’t. Jamal was with her.

Jamal looked at her anxiously. It seemed like he wanted to help, but he was scared and unable to do anything useful.

Felicien glared at her coldly.

“Stupid Asian bitch. I don’t know why Kail was into you, but you better know this. If you do anything to annoy me again, I will make you disappear. This is a warning. Do you understand what I’m saying?”

When Silje glared back at him without a word, Felicien pulled her hair hard, which made her scream.

“Gyaa! Let me go!”

“Oh, does it hurt?!”

Felicien grinned and finally let her go. He added, “Do you think you are worthy of our king, Kail? Learn to know your place and get lost. If you bother me one more time, I will kill you. Get lost! Now!”

Felicien pushed her hard towards Jamal. When Silje and Jamal fell to the ground, the gang laughed at them.

“Haha, look at them!”

It hurt. And she was furious.

Silje glared at them. She wanted to fight back, but Jamal, who looked terrified, stopped her.

“No, Silje! Please, don’t! Let’s just go.”

She knew Jamal was right. This wasn’t the time to fight, especially with Jamal here. She couldn’t let him get hurt because of her rash anger. Silje had to think of Jamal’s safety. He was her priority.

Jamal helped her up and they quickly left the hallway.

“I hate that bitch. I know Kail told us not to touch her, but every time I see her, I can’t help but become murderous. She makes me so angry. The next time I see her, I won’t let her off so easily.”

Felicien looked deadly as he continued loudly, “I can’t be patient anymore. I will end this the next time I see her.”

As they walked away, Silje heard Felicien’s threat clearly. She pretended to be calm, but she couldn’t the creepy goosebumps rising all over her body. Although she pretended that she didn’t hear him, her instinct told her that he meant what he said. The next time they met, he wasn’t going to let her go.

Felicien’s threat was unpleasant, but she just had to forget about it. That was the best way to get on with her day.

This encounter especially was different because she had no choice. She didn’t walk away because she was afraid; she did it to save Jamal. Silje decided that this was by no means a defeat for her.

After lunch, Silje went to the gym for the next class.

She had to forget about it. That was the best thing to do. Dwelling on what had already happened was pointless.

Today’s gym class was about volleyball. When she was inside the gym, she met Irina who approached her.

“Hi, how are you, Silje?”

“…Irina? Oh hi. Nice seeing you.”

Silje murmured a greeting. She was so used to not talking to other students at school that whenever Silje saw Irina, she was genuinely happy to talk to her.

The kids kept glancing at them curiously. Irina studied Silje as she asked, “Did something happen recently, Silje?”

Silje shook her head, but Irina continued to look at her curiously. After a long pause, Silje replied, “Nothing new. Why?”

Irina seemed to hesitate before explaining.

“The thing is, some of the kids were talking about you and Kail.”

Irina glanced at Silje cautiously before continuing, “I thought that what they were saying about you was a bit too harsh.”

“What are the kids saying about me and Kail?”

After a short silence, Irina shrugged her shoulders.

“Some kids saw you leaving Kail’s storage a few days ago. I didn’t believe everything they said, but I wanted to confirm it with you anyway.”

Irina exhaled and asked seriously, “So? Are you going out with Kail, Silje?”

Silje became speechless at Irina’s unexpectedly blunt question. She was surprised that she was seen leaving Kail’s storage, but she supposed it made sense. This was a very small school.

When Irina continued to stare with curiosity, Silje replied, “No, it’s not like that.”

“Are you sure? I’m a bit disappointed then. To be honest, I thought it would be very interesting if you and Kail dated.”

Irina smiled innocently. She acted like she was watching an interesting movie and strangely, Silje liked her even more for it.

Silje wanted to talk to Irina a while longer, but one of her friends waved at her from far away.

Irina said to Silje, “I need to go now. Oh, I almost forgot to tell you…”

Irina leaned towards her and whispered, “Be careful today. I heard Brigit and her friends talking just now that they are planning something for you. You know why, right? Brigit had her eyes on Kail.”

With that, Irina walked away toward her friends.

Alone again, Silje started to practice with her volleyball when suddenly, she sensed something behind her. When she turned around, she saw Brigit and her friends glaring at her, just like Irina had warned.

Irina was right.

They looked angry, but Silje shrugged. It was Felicien this morning, and now this. Silje couldn’t help but feel uneasy.

Continuing to play with her volleyball, Silje smiled coldly. If she couldn’t avoid this, why not enjoy it?

Even if something horrible happened to her, she was going to make sure that it wasn’t going to be easy for them.

And unfortunately, it happened sooner than she expected.
