Wife of The Demon Prince-Chapter 161: Confession (part 2)
There was silence between them with only the sound of the spring breeze bustling the tress leaves and making the dried leaves fall to the ground and on the mat they sat on.
For the first time ever Merek decided to start a conversation, he cleared his throat, "I noticed you quite like it here..." π§πππππ«π·π€πΏππ‘.ππ€πΆ
Anne turned towards him with a smile, "Yes, donβt you?"
"There is nothing to like in a place like this, itβs full of plants and nothing else."
Anne couldnβt help but chuckle softly, "Are you serious? Look, there is a lot to like. The beautiful scenery from up here, and the cooling breeze, the birds singing...It brings peace to ones soul, itβs so peaceful out here I could live here forever." She remarked with a distant look and added, "You should come here often to relax."
"..."
Merek had never properly relaxed ever before, and he really didnβt understand it well enough to know how good it felt. This was his first time in his life heβd come to a place like this to sit and eat. If not for Anne, he would never have come to such a place. But then, he actually found it quite peaceful sitting under the shade and gazing out into the horizon.
"Do you come here often?" He asked.
Anne shook her head, "No, this is my second time actually...I brought you here to relax and feel free from all the stress in the mansion. I also... want to tell you something..." She admitted with her cheeks turning slightly pink.
Anne glanced up at his expressionlessly cold face, in a nature filled place like the mountain side, he looked like an aloof angel of darkness standing amidst the splendor of life and green nature, his handsome face was the same as usual, seeming to entrap her each time she looked at him.
These past few days sheβd been feeling like she was carrying a huge burden stuffing up all her feelings for him inside, it was frustrating to feel all of these overwhelming emotions for someone and be unable to say it to them, he had been acting indifferent towards her, it had hurt her, yet her heart wasnβt willing to give up on him, with the peaceful surroundings and the spur of the moment, Anne felt this was the perfect time to tell Merek about her feelings for him.
She didnβt know how heβd react, nor did she know what to expect, if her feelings turned out to be one sided she didnβt know how she would handle it, but she was willing to take a chance, at least it was best she let it out than keep it all stuffed up inside.
Merek gave Anne a curious look, "What do you want to tell me?"
Anne nervously clenched tightly to her dress as she didnβt know where to even start her confession in the first place. This was a good opportunity, she couldnβt miss it now. She began, "You see...ever since I met you_"
"Miss Anne, I think itβs going to rain."
"Huh?" Anne was a bit stumped since her confession was suddenly interrupted when sheβd barely said it but recovered a second later and glanced heavenwards and saw how the clouds began to gather in the sky, up until now, the sky had been fine, but it was changing. The beautiful cocktail-blue shade was beginning to darken into grave-grey, large pillows of clouds were forming, blotting out the old-gold colors of the sun.
A thin bolt of lightning started to flash in the sky. Anne couldnβt help but think; it seemed even the heavens were against her confession today. Why now rain?!
First splatters of rain fell, droplets of the moisture began to drop from the leaves, they were sprinkling onto the mat, then came the intense gust of wind blowing over the trees fiercely.
"Miss Anne, we have to leave. Itβs going to be a heavy rain. You can tell me what you wanted to say at the mansion." Merek said as he stood up quickly, their carriage was parked at the far side of the road beside the mountain side and if they didnβt hurry, theyβd get caught in the rain.
Anne was taken aback as Merek didnβt waste any time and grabbed her hand while holding the basket in the other hand. Anne, who wasnβt feeling well felt the cold wind bite her skin sharply like piercing needles. The pair started to run down the hills. Unfortunately, they werenβt even half way when the rain became more intense falling heavily upon them.
Anneβs dress became wet and heavy, it was raining intensely and also windy at the same time. She started trembling as her pace slowed down, her teeth began to chatter.
Merek felt Anne clenched tightly to his hand, he then turned back at her and saw how she was shivering, his eyebrows furrowed. She doesnβt look alright, he halted and quickly removed his jacket then placed it around her shoulders.
Anne managed to say, "Th-thank you."
"Can you make it down the hill in your condition?" He asked concerned.
Anne managed to nod even though her teeth were chattering together. Merekβs frown deepened, he then tossed the basket away and quickly bent over and gathered her body in his arms.
"Merek, what are_"
"Hush, You look sick, we need to get you back to the mansion as soon as possible."

I love you
The words "I love you"
The words "Wait for me"
They just linger in my ears
The words I couldnβt say put me in pain
In my hurt heart
In my heart thatβs crying on the inside
I couldnβt say anything and my memories ride the wind
As I hide behind my tears, I wait for you
Iβll wait for you
I couldnβt say those words
So again today, I linger around you until my affection is confessed
