Chapter 375: Chapter 358: Clash

After driving away the little ghost, Mu Yunchu no longer found it necessary to stay.

The two of them tacitly didn’t mention the incident just now. Although the hour was late, Mu Yunchu had things to do.

She silently returned to her room, fully aware that now was not a good time.

But if she missed this opportunity, who knows when the next chance would come, so she had to try.

...

In the pouring rain, above the mass grave south of the city, the sky was churned with purple-black clouds, like a giant shroud covering the horizon.

Mu Yunchu didn’t use an umbrella, but the rain above her head seemed to meet some resistance, naturally splitting to both sides. 𝐟𝐫𝕖𝗲𝘄𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝕧𝐞𝚕.𝕔𝕠𝐦

After walking for ten minutes, she was completely untouched by the rain, not even a speck of mud on her pants.

Mu Yunchu gripped the bronze compass tightly; the Eight Diagrams on its surface glowed faintly red, casting an eerie light on her pale face.

Until a slight vibration came from the compass’s edge, her expression grew even more serious.

Looking up, not far away, a man stood with his hands behind him under the Soul-guiding Banner. His black robe fluttered wildly in the wind. A faint smile hung at the corner of his mouth, and his gaze toward Mu Yunchu contained a subtle hint.

"You are indeed clever."

Though the two were not close, his voice easily reached Mu Yunchu’s ears.

"You knew using this chance would lead you to me."

The man’s tone wasn’t bad, with a hint of delight.

He seemed quite satisfied with Mu Yunchu’s effort to find him.

The man’s identity needed no introduction—it was Li Yunhe, with whom she had ’crossed paths’ several times before.

Today was their first face-to-face meeting, yet there was no sense of strangeness.

However, upon seeing Li Yunhe, Mu Yunchu immediately had a feeling—too young.

If one pieced together the timeline from the many stories she’d heard about Li Yunhe, it would be clear that Li Yunhe should not be the forty or fifty-year-old man standing here.

Suppressing her doubts, she focused all her attention on the present.

"Since you’ve come to find me today, you must have some confidence, huh?" As soon as Li Yunhe spoke, his horsetail whisk swung abruptly, and the densely packed talismans on the Soul-guiding Banner burst into ghostly blue flames, like thousands of ghostly eyes flickering in the darkness.

Mu Yunchu naturally wouldn’t accuse him of ’ambushing.’

After all, both appeared here with only this shared purpose.

Completely different from the little ghost seen in the hotel earlier, hundreds of fierce ghosts surged forth, kicking up a foul wind.

Though she knew that Li Yunhe had walked the path of an Evil Cultivator, witnessing this scene with her own eyes was still quite shocking.

These fierce ghosts took varied forms, some missing arms or legs, others with twisted faces. Their piercing screams made Mu Yunchu’s eardrums ache, nearly overwhelming her consciousness.

Quickly biting the tip of her tongue, she sprayed blood infused with Spiritual Power onto the "Kan" position of the compass and recited a spell: "Qian Three Unbroken, Kun Six Broken, Yin-Yang Reverse, Suppress!"

The compass immediately erupted with dazzling golden light, forming a Light Shield that blocked the first wave of the ghostly assault.

The clash of golden light and Ghost Energy made a piercing hissing sound and scorched the air with a burning smell.

Seeing this, Li Yunhe’s eyes flashed with surprise, and his demeanor became more earnest.

"Interesting."

He quickly formed a seal with his hands while chanting a spell: "Netherworld Guide, Ten Thousand Ghosts March, Break!"

As the spell concluded, the ghosts suddenly split into two groups, one continuing to assault the Light Shield wildly, their claws and teeth scratching scars onto the golden light.

The other group bypassed the defense, fanning out from the side and lunging at Mu Yunchu.

Her pupils contracted, sensing the sinister cold behind her, she quickly flicked out the Peach Wood Sword.

The Big Dipper symbols on the sword lit up; the sword transformed into countless golden Sword Qi, shooting like a meteor shower towards the ghosts attacking from the side.

Amidst the ghosts’ shrill cries, some were shattered into nothingness.

But overwhelmed by their vast numbers, the cracks on the Light Shield rapidly spread like a spiderweb under continuous impact.

Li Yunhe sneered, unsurprised by the outcome, and simultaneously summoned three Black Talismans.

The Black Talismans moved independently in the air, twisting and morphing into three massive Demon Wolves.

The Demon Wolves were mountain-like, their fangs gleamed with a chilling light, and they spewed a foul-smelling black mist from their mouths as they roared toward Mu Yunchu.

She flipped the compass, quickly drawing a Demon Trapping Array on the ground, its patterns shimmering with golden light, while forming a talisman into a rope.

The Demon Wolves charged into the array, bound by the golden light, yet still struggled desperately, their claws gouging deep furrows into the earth.

The rope silently climbed onto Li Yunhe’s wrist, binding one of his hands before he realized it.

Seizing the moment as the Demon Wolves were trapped, Mu Yunchu drove the Peach Wood Sword straight at the Soul-guiding Banner. The sword cut through the air with a sharp whistle, just as its tip was about to touch the banner, Li Yunhe suddenly vanished.

"Is that all you’ve got?" Li Yunhe mocked, reactivating the Soul-guiding Banner.

The ghosts stopped fighting individually, instead coalescing into a gigantic ghost hand. The skin of the ghost hand was bluish-purple, its nails jet black like ink, and each finger was as thick as a barrel, reaching for Mu Yunchu.

Her vision was limited, and Li Yunhe seemed aware of this, deliberately striking from tricky angles.

A careless mistake led to an attack on Mu Yunchu’s shoulder, blood instantly gushed out.

She endured the intense pain, pouring her Spiritual Power into the compass and shouted, "Reverse the Cosmos, Break!"

The compass erupted with unprecedented brilliance, with ancient Eight Diagrams vaguely appearing in the light. The ghost hand screamed painfully in the light, its skin peeling off in patches, but Li Yunhe took the chance to form a complex seal.

"Blood Sacrifice Netherworld, Ten Thousand Ghosts Perish!" Li Yunhe shouted, the skulls on the Soul-guiding Banner suddenly opened their eyes, spewing forth a pillar of black light. The pillar cracked the ground wherever it reached, with black miasma pouring from the fissures. The defenses Mu Yunchu maintained crumbled under the impact of the light pillar, she was thrown back by the powerful force, barely maintaining her balance.

Li Yunhe seemed to calculate the timing perfectly, and rushed forth, intending to deliver a fatal blow.

Just as Li Yunhe’s hand was about to reach Mu Yunchu’s throat, she suddenly erupted with action. A talisman hidden in her sleeve burst forth with dazzling light.

"Turn Yin Yang, Shift Cosmos!"

Li Yunhe had never seen such a spell, his pupils contracted, he saw the surrounding space fiercely distort, his meticulously arranged array even began to backfire. The talismans on the Soul-guiding Banner spontaneously combusted, the ghosts let out terrified screams and turned towards their master.

"What...what is this!?"

Although nearly harmed, his tone was extremely excited.

Yet naturally, there was no answer to his question.

Mu Yunchu seized the opportunity to drive the bronze compass, transforming the Eight Diagrams into tangible chains, which bound Li Yunhe tightly.

She ’watched’ him, her eyes blood-red, her voice dark as if clawing up from the underworld.

"It’s over."

Only she didn’t notice that the clouds above seemed to gather more densely.
