Why Am I a Priestess When I Reach the Maximum Level?-Chapter 90[Vol. 6] - Void
[Vol. 6] Chapter 90: Void
The mountains were lush and serene, with clear waters and the fragrance of flowers in the air. Compared to the harsh, snowy cold on the mountain path, this small village nestled in the hills, made up of simple wooden huts, seemed like a true paradise.
“Meow~ Meow meow~”
The white cat, Miaomiao, turned around and waved its paw at the group in a surprisingly human-like gesture, then pointed toward the golden barrier around them.
“What… is going on here?”
Bai’er muttered in surprise as Miaomiao meowed. Violet released the barrier, and the warm breeze from outside began to caress the group’s bodies.
“Just as I thought, this is the real Peach Blossom Peak, or rather, the place within Peach Blossom Peak where living beings reside,” Violet said, turning her head to look at the peach forest that stood like a guard around the small village in the distance, explaining with a half-smile.
“If I’m correct, these peach trees aren’t just ordinary plants that bloom year-round. The Peach Blossom Sage, must have used the peach trees to set up a massive spatial formation that covers the entire mountain, allowing her to control the weather and create that unusual cold environment we encountered outside.”
“And the peach forest itself seems to form a maze-like structure that automatically blocks the mountain path, isolating the area from the outside world.”
Hearing this, Murong Yun looked surprised.
“But… why would the Peach Blossom Sage do this? Shouldn’t she be in favor of communication between the creatures of Cangyun Mountain and the outside world? Didn’t she open the Peach Blossom Peak to tourism?”
“Yes, she values free interaction between living beings, but it seems this doesn’t include the Peach Blossom Sage herself,” Violet said thoughtfully.
“You probably noticed that the weather was quite mild during the initial part of the climb, but it wasn’t until we reached the middle of the mountain that the environment suddenly worsened.”
“It’s obvious,” Violet continued, “that what she meant was, ‘this is as far as you can go,’ stopping visitors from going further up in a relatively subtle way. In other words, the Peach Blossom Sage doesn’t want anyone to actually reach the summit. When you came here for the mission, didn’t you also never meet her in person?”
“Besides, this method seems to be a way of protecting the creatures here. Those willing to interact with outsiders can go to the lower areas of the mountain and choose their companions. Meanwhile, the spirit beasts and yokai who want a peaceful life can stay here, in this isolated and comfortable environment, away from the outside world.”
“As for why she does this… I’m not entirely sure. Little cat, you can understand what we’re saying, right?”
“Meow~”
The white cat, Miaomiao, turned around. Its eyes, clear like gemstones, showed a moment of surprise that seemed almost human. It nodded slightly, flicking its tail as if signaling the group to continue following.
Under the white cat’s lead, the group of five continued along the stream flowing down from the higher mountain. As they walked, they observed the natural beauty of the small village. In the distance, small creatures, still showing traces of their beast forms, ran past in simple clothes, while spirit beasts and birds played, flapping their wings from afar. The atmosphere was peaceful and harmonious.
Even when they encountered the unfamiliar visitors, the local creatures didn’t seem scared. Instead, they stared curiously from a distance. Some of the bolder little animals even approached, rubbing against the girls’ pants as a way of showing friendliness.
It was clear that the white cat held a leadership position in the village. Even larger spirit beasts, ones capable of real combat, showed it great respect. They didn’t question or attack the humans the cat had brought, merely observing quietly from afar.
Despite her tough exterior, Bai’er seemed to have the least resistance to these fluffy creatures. She quickly squatted down and hugged a cute little white fluffball that had been rubbing against her leg like a rabbit.
She smiled with satisfaction as she petted it, listening to its purring sounds. With a curious expression, she asked, “By the way, if there’s such a peaceful place here, why did Miaomiao end up alone on the mountain path, injured like that?”
Ling Feng stared at the little white fluffball in Bai’er’s arms for a few moments, then turned his gaze away, shaking his head after a brief silence.
“As for this, I’m afraid we’ll only know once we reach the place she really wants to take us.”
Soon, the little white cat led them to the end of the stream, where the clear water cascaded down a waterfall and gathered into a clear pool. In the center of the pool was a large stone, and on top of it sat a young girl with short black hair and two silver cat ears on her head, her eyes closed in a meditative pose.
She was an odd-looking girl from every angle. She was beautiful, with an elegant, noble charm mixed with a hint of wildness. Her limbs were long and well-proportioned, yet she was wearing a cute, fluffy cat-themed crop top and shorts, exposing large areas of smooth, pale skin.
What was even more strange was that the girl’s arms and legs were adorned with fluffy paw-like covers, but she didn’t have the tail that a cat would usually have. Although she looked incredibly cute, like something out of a cosplay, it was hard to describe her as a “catgirl” in the usual sense.
“Meow meow~”
It wasn’t the girl speaking, but the actual cat. Miaomiao swiftly crossed the water, leaping over several meters to reach the girl, and then licked her finger with a pink tongue, letting out a light mewing sound.
Only then did the girl open her eyes, which were silver and gem-like with vertical pupils. She looked down at the white cat beside her.
“Back already? Miaomiao, did you find something today?”
The girl’s senses seemed incredibly sharp. Almost as soon as she spoke, she noticed the group of strangers standing by the pool. Her eyes instinctively swept over them with a sharp gaze, but then, in a brief moment, they suddenly froze and contracted violently.
“Meow?”
Noticing the girl’s hesitation, Miaomiao looked up at her, confused. The white cat rubbed its face against the girl’s palm, purring softly.
Sensing Miaomiao’s affectionate gesture, the girl quickly regained her composure, gathered the cat into her arms, and stood up. Despite her curvy figure, she moved with graceful elegance.
“Oh… so you have guests. Miaomiao brought you here, right? If she approves of you, it shows you’re kind-hearted people. I’m glad to meet you all.”
As soon as the words left her mouth, the cat-girl suddenly vanished. In the blink of an eye, she appeared in front of Violet and the others, nodding slightly in greeting.
“My name is… Kong. You can call me Xiao Kong. I suppose I’m the guardian of this place. May I ask how you all are called?”
“Senior, please.” Murong Yun spoke up. “I am Murong Yun.”
“Such skill…” Ling Feng added. “I am Ling Feng.”
“Bai’er,” came the soft reply.
“Uh… Little Mole, I guess that’s my name?” the last person introduced himself awkwardly.
As the group was still recovering from the cat-girl’s sudden appearance and getting used to her mysterious methods, or giving their self-introductions, Violet furrowed her brow in thought.
This cat-girl, who didn’t have a tail and didn’t meow… why was she staring at her?
The girl might think her gaze was subtle enough, but Violet was particularly sensitive to being observed. Even if it wasn’t through direct eye contact but through some more subtle means, it was hard to escape the perception of the priestess.
Furthermore, Violet had clearly noticed the moment of hesitation in the girl’s expression when she first saw them. That too hadn’t escaped her sharp observation.
In addition…
“I’m Violet. By the way, have we met before?”
A sense of déjà vu.
A strong sense of déjà vu made the black-haired girl ask the question. It wasn’t just a casual opening line, and while she couldn’t deny being slightly charmed by the girl’s cute appearance…
Well, maybe there was a little bit of that feeling, but more than that…

In that instant when their eyes met, she couldn’t suppress the feeling that she had seen her before.
For a divine being with a perfect memory, this kind of oddity was almost impossible.
However, the girl named Kong simply smiled, shaking her head lightly.
“No, this is our first meeting… Violet. Hmm, Violet, that’s a name that suits you very well~”
“Everyone, welcome to Peach Blossom Peak.”
