Who Let Him Cultivate?! (WX)-Chapter 542: Five-Elements Spell Combination
Meng Jingzhou and the other two watched while eating roasted lamb, applauding Li Haoran’s ingenious move.
“Brilliant idea! You can’t use conventional methods against Lu Yang!” Meng Jingzhou praised heartily. As Lu Yang’s long-time rival, he knew ordinary means wouldn’t work; only unorthodox strategies with the element of surprise stood a chance.
“The skin tastes pretty good; it’s even more flavorful than the meat.” Meng Jingzhou smacked his lips. He had been eating the crispy and fragrant lamb skin, which crackled between his teeth and left a lingering aroma. Paired with chives to alleviate the greasiness, the flavor was perfection. The meat beneath the skin pales a tiny bit in comparison.
Meng Jingzhou’s gaze inadvertently fell on the blazing Three Flavor True Fire, and he punched his palm. “I’ve got an idea!”
He flicked a wisp of Nirvana True Fire into the Three Flavor True Fire. The two true fires merged with a crackle.
Under the Nirvana True Fire’s influence, the lamb carcass gradually regrew its skin. As the regeneration was slow, the Three Flavor True Fire could sear it meticulously, making the flavor even more incredible.
Man Gu’s eyes lit up at this scene. I never imagined the Nirvana True Fire could be used this way.
As he hadn’t encountered the Three Flavor True Fire in the past, it was understandable that he hadn’t associated it with barbecue. However, every cultivator knew of the famed Nirvana True Fire.
How could I have failed to realize it could be used in barbecue? This is totally unacceptable!
I’m an utter disgrace as the successor to the Barbarian Clan’s barbecue legacy!
I knew I could learn real skills by following Brother Lu and Brother Meng!
As a Confucian cultivator, Man Gu adhered to the sages’ teachings: “In a company of three, all are my teachers” and “One should reflect on themselves three times daily.” He constantly engaged in introspection to compensate for his shortcomings.
While Man Gu was learning, Lu Yang was still battling the four-armed Li Haoran.
The legendary Three-Heads Six-Arms lived up to its reputation. Even Li Haoran’s inferior four-armed version put significant pressure on Lu Yang.
“Palm Lightning!”
“Six Ding Divine Fire!”
“Extreme Calculation True Fire!”
“One-Zhang Bamboo!”
With four hands forming seals, four different spells bombarded Lu Yang simultaneously.
The golden birds cried and ignited Three Flavor True Fire as they spread their wings, every feather as sharp as a sword and slicing through the air.
Although the Six Ding True Fire and the Great Calculation True Fire were true fires, they lacked explosive power and couldn’t withstand the attack from Lu Yang’s two true fires and sword qi.
The Palm Lightning likewise dissipated upon impact.
Only the emerald bamboo that Li Haoran had sharpened remained. It broke the sound barrier as it shot toward Lu Yang.
With his spiritual consciousness extended, Lu Yang had already detected the bamboo, but his body reacted a beat slower, and the bamboo grazed his arm.
“Impressive, Junior Brother Li. You actually smeared poison on the bamboo.” Lu Yang deployed the Golden Bird True Flame to restrain Li Haoran while retrieving a detoxifying pill from his identity jade tablet.
“I have no other choice. You’re too strong, Senior Brother Lu. I won’t win unless I use some methods. Besides, you haven’t even shown your true capabilities yet, have you?”
Suddenly, Lu Yang and Li Haoran attacked simultaneously. Both had tried to launch a sneak attack on the other party during their conversation, only to realize their opponent had thought the same.
“Arhat Fist!”
Lu Yang no longer held back and delivered a brutal punch. As Li Haoran was an artifact cultivator, he couldn’t compete in close quarters with Lu Yang. When it came to close combat, only top-notch physique cultivators like Meng Jingzhou or Confucian cultivators like Man Gu could suppress Lu Yang.
Li Haoran reacted swiftly. He knew he couldn’t face the Arhat Fist head-on, so he immediately ripped the two arms off his armpits and hastily refined them into magical treasures to hurl at Lu Yang.
Crash! Crash! Crash!
Dozens of exchanges occurred in the blink of an eye, but the makeshift flesh artifacts ultimately proved inferior to the Arhat Fist, and Li Haoran was sent flying.
The silver lining for Li Haoran was that he was wearing a wig, so he wouldn’t suffer hair loss.
“Sixteen-Foot Golden Body!”
Lu Yang summoned a golden body resembling himself, which descended from the sky and encased Li Haoran.
“Tree-Planting Mantra!”
Lu Yang burrowed into the ground, and seeds sprouted, producing two Lu Yangs.
“I’ll leave the rest to you.” Lu Yang did a high-five with his clone; the clone nodded and tunneled underground like an earth dragon, rapidly closing in on Li Haoran.
“Earth Escape!” Li Haoran remained unflustered. While I can’t do Shrinking Earth, I can still perform the Earth Escape Technique.
This was the Sixteen-Foot Golden Body’s flaw—its base was unsealed. One could flee with the Earth Escape Technique.
Just then, Lu Yang’s clone arrived underground, tracing a circle around the golden body’s base.
“Draw Underground Prison.”
The ground beneath the golden body became an underground prison, blocking off Li Haoran’s escape route and forcing him back to the surface.
Henceforth, the Sixteen-Foot Golden Body would have no more weakness.
Li Haoran sneered. “I’d like to see what a clone can do to me!”
Lu Yang’s clone emerged from the soil and entered the interior of the golden body.
Li Haoran’s arms turned jade-white, piercing clean through Lu Yang’s clone with a squelch.
The clone was completely unaffected, as if the body wasn’t its own.
“Sleeve Cosmos.”
An endless stream of lake water gushed out from the clone’s right hand, flooding the golden body instantly.
“Impossible! Your Sleeve Cosmos stores water but isn’t linked to lakes. You’re just a newly created clone. When could you have absorbed water...” Li Haoran paused mid-sentence as he suddenly remembered Lu Yang high-fiving the clone.
Lu Yang must have stored water in his palm before the battle began and transferred it to his clone during the high-five.
I was careless!
“Water-Splitting Technique!”
Within three breaths, the water that filled the Sixteen-Foot Golden Body disappeared, decomposing into hydrogen and oxygen.
Along with a bird’s cry, golden flames flashed inside the golden body, and the massive explosion cracked even the golden body’s interior.
“Damn, Lu Yang’s moves sure pack a punch.” Meng Jingzhou was shocked, though he understood that the smaller the space, the greater the explosion.
Tao Yaoye analyzed earnestly, “It’s not just that. Senior Brother Lu split the water into two gases that seemed to have amplified the explosion.” The Golden Bird True Flame alone shouldn’t have caused such a huge blast; there must be other factors at play.
“This must be the five-elements spell combination the transmission elder mentioned,” Man Gu marveled. Sixteen-Foot Golden Body, wooden clone, Water-Splitting Technique, true fire, and Shrinking Earth—all five elements are present.
Lu Yang dispelled the Sixteen-Foot Golden Body and found only two charred corpses.
“Junior Brother Li, stop acting. I saw you escape with a spell.” Lu Yang chuckled. He had monitored the Sixteen-Foot Golden Body all this time.
In the split second before the explosion, Li Haoran had performed a teleportation-like technique to swap places with his clone.
Lu Yang’s spiritual consciousness had long detected Li Haoran’s clone buried underground. He surmised it was originally meant for an ambush. Though it went unused, it ended up saving his life.
Pop! Li Haoran emerged from the ground behind Lu Yang.
“What terrifying power.” Li Haoran shuddered, yet to recover from the fright. He knew Lu Yang had held, else multiple Golden Bird True Flames and Three Flavor True Fires would have greeted him instead.
“Wanna continue fighting?” Lu Yang turned around and grinned.
“Of course I want to con—” Li Haoran was not ready to admit defeat, but his vision suddenly blurred, causing him to stagger and nearly collapse.
“Poisoned...? No, what is this?” Li Haoran realized something had gone wrong with his body, preventing him from continuing to battle. But I don’t remember breathing in any poison though.
What’s going on?
“Junior Brother Li, do you know that while active gas is essential for living beings to survive, inhaling it in excessive amounts would instead result in symptoms like dizziness and chest tightness.
“From the start of the battle, I’ve been casting the Water-Splitting Technique to break down the water in the air into light gas and active gas. As the concentration of active gas rose, you naturally couldn’t keep up.
“Junior Brother Li, if you had paid closer attention, you would have noticed that I was holding my breath the entire time.
“Well, do you still want to continue fighting?”
“I admit defeat.”
